Queridos amigos, Con la Cuaresma ahora en pleno apogeo, tenemos la capacidad de ver la nueva libertad que poseemos co-mo resultado de los sacrificios significativos que ha-cemos. Sin las comodidades y distracciones habitua-les, nos encontramos en la sencillez del desierto. En lugar de consuelo, tenemos claridad y así reconocer la presencia de Jesús en nosotros. Nos volvemos a Él con nuestras necesidades, encontramos en Él una nueva paz. A medida que avanzamos con la novena a Nuestra Señora Desatadora de Nudos, mantenemos nuestro enfoque en la importante tarea de pedirle y permitirle a Ella que le lleve nuestras necesidades a Jesús. Ten-gan en mente que la meditación de esta semana está enfocada en perdonar a los demás. El darle más aten-ción a Jesús, desatará cualquier nudo que pudiéramos tener a causa de un sufrimiento del pasado. Este año, nuestra experiencia cuaresmal incluirá un momento especial de gratitud y renovación -- el 50 aniversario de la consagración de nuestra Iglesia. Una forma especial de participar será dedicar Cua-renta Horas de Adoración Eucarística. Planeen pasar un tiempo en Adoración entre el jueves 19 de marzo por la noche, hasta el sábado 21 a las 8:15 am. Dear Friends, With Lent now in full swing we can begin to see the new freedom we have because of the meaningful sacrifices we make. Without the usual comforts and distractions we find ourselves in the simplicity of the desert. Instead of comfort we can have clarity, we can recognize Jesus’ presence to us. We turn to Him with our needs, we find in Him a new peace. As we continue our Novena to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, we keep our focus on the important task of asking and allowing Our Lady to bring our needs to Jesus. Notice this week that the meditation focuses on forgiving others. More attention to Jesus will loosen the hold that any past hurts have on us. This year our Lenten experience will include a spe-
cial time of gratitude and renewal -- the 50th Anni-versary of the Dedication of our church. A special way of participating will be our Forty Hours of Eu-charistic Adoration. Plan to spend time in Adoration sometime beginning Thursday evening, March 19, all the way through Saturday morning at 8:15 am. There will be parishioners assigned to keep watch during the nights so that we can pray without inter-ruption or worry. The virtue of the month in our school is Cheerful-ness. Be cheerful this Lent! Celebración del 50 aniversario La fecha del 50 Aniversario de la consagración de nuestra igle-sia está a solo tres semanas. Después de las Misas de las 11:00 am los días sábado 21 y domingo 22 de marzo, habrá una recepción en el gimnasio de la escuela. Para organizar los dos eventos, estamos solicitando el apoyo de personas que puedan donarnos bocadillos dulces y salados, galletas, etc. También necesitamos voluntarios para ayudar a organizar las dos recepciones en las fechas antes indicadas. Lenten Regulations on Fasting and Abstinence Abstinence-Everyone older than 14 years of age is bound to observe the law of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent and on Ash Wednes-day.
Fasting-On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, everyone over 18 and up to the beginning of their 60th year also is bound to observe the law of fast. On these two days only one full meat-less meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, therefore, are the only days of both fast and abstinence.
Senior Luncheon The Senior Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, March 6, fol-lowing the noon Mass in Room 4 at the parish.

50th Anniversary Celebration Our 50th anniversary of the dedication of the church is only three weeks away. Both 11:00 am Masses on March 21 and March 22 will be followed by receptions in the school gym. In order to host both receptions, we are asking for your sup-port in the way of appetizers, finger foods, cookies, etc. Vol-unteers are also needed to help host the receptions on Satur-day and Sunday. Regulaciones cuaresmales sobre el ayuno y la abstinencia Abstinencia-La ley de abstinencia exige a un católico de 14 años de edad, respetar la ley de la abstinencia de comer carne. Dear St. Anthony Families, Summer will be here before we know it. Even though school is still in session, we are already planning our summer camp program which will include special activities for our preschoolers this year. Our campers will enjoy weekly themes with real learning and outside fun. Last year we offered Spy Week with a scavenger hunt, message deciphering and a trip to the Spy Museum. We had two weeks of sports (camps) that included flag football, soccer and basketball. Mixed in with the weekly themes were computer labs, arts and crafts, field trips, and more. Registration will be available soon . Camp starts June 15 through August 7. Full day camp will be offered with the flexibility for half days or weeks as well. Prudence During These Times of Risk Because of the higher than usual risks of catching or spreading communicable illnesses, and because of heightened fears, we make these recommendations and changes based on advice from our Diocesan office of risk management:
Employees exhibiting symptoms of a communicable dis-ease should remain at home, stay away from work, and avoid others for the duration of the illness and for 24 hours after symptoms abate.
Parishioners with known symptoms of influenza should refrain from attending Mass and other parish activities for the duration of their illness and up to 24 hours after the symptoms abate.
We will temporarily suspend Holy Communion from the chalice at the Masses where it has been offered.
At the Sign of Peace during Mass parishioners are wel-come to convey their greeting of peace by a simple bow toward each other if they prefer not to shake hands.

Meditation for the Third Week
Meditating Mother, Queen of heaven, in whose hands the treasures of the King are found, turn your merciful eyes upon me today. I entrust into your holy hands this knot in my life:
[Mention your request here] and all the rancor and resentment it has caused in me. I ask Your forgiveness, God the Father, for my sin. Help me now to forgive all the persons who consciously or unconsciously pro-voked this knot. Give me, also, the grace to forgive me for having provoked this knot. Only in this way can You undo it. Before You, dearest Mother, and in the name of Your Son Je-sus, my Savior, who has suffered so many offenses, having been granted forgiveness, I now forgive these persons:

Los feligreses con síntomas conocidos de in-fluenza, deben abstenerse de asistir a Misa y a otras actividades parroquiales durante la dura-ción de su enfermedad, y hasta 24 horas después de que los síntomas disminuyan.
Suspenderemos temporalmente la Sagrada Comunión del cáliz en las Misas donde se ha ofrecido.
En la señal de la paz durante la Misa, los feli-greses pueden transmitir su saludo de paz con una simple reverencia, si prefieren no estrechar la mano.
