AQUATICS

Lap SwimmingSalmo Pool

This is a structured swim for continuous lap swimming or water walking. Must be comfortable in deep water and able to swim 50m. Pools are divided into double lanes to allow for a circular pattern while swimming. Lane division will be based on the pace of the swimmers.

AquafitSalmo Pool

Join us at the Salmo Pool for Aquafit! Improve your cardio-vascular fitness, endurance and flexibility in this low impact class that will get you moving and grooving in the water. Options will be provided for deep and shallow water. Participants should be comfortable in deep water. Flotation belts can be provided

This is an opportunity to get in and play in the water. All physical distancing measures and restrictions will be adhered to. This swim is on a first come first served basis and the lifeguard staff will regulate entrance to the pool based on our maximum capacity.

Bronze Medallion13+ yrs or completion of Bronze Star Salmo Pool

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodies in the four components of water rescue education; Judgement, Knowledge, Skills and Fitness. Rescuers learn advanced lifesaving techniques for challenging rescues of increased risk, involving conscious and unconscious victims in varying water depths. Participants develop stroke efficiency and endurance in timed swims. Price includes the Canadian Lifesaving Manual and a Pocket Mask.

• All Preschool levels, and Swim Kids 1, 2, 3, 4 will require one (1) active adult in the water per child for the duration of the lesson, as the instructor will teach from the edge of the pool or at a distance.

• All swimmers are asked to arrive swim ready

• Participants can leave all personal items in the designated locations provided on the deck

Standard First Aid15+ yrs | SDRD – Multipurpose Room

Standard First Aid is the most comprehensive first aid program for the general public and a prerequisite for the National Lifeguard program. Learn how to assess and treat airway, breathing and circulatory emergencies; and management of medical, musculoskeletal and environmental emergencies. Certification includes CPR-C/AED, and is considered an equivalent to OFA level 1.

Red Cross Stay Safe9-13 yrs | SDRD – Multipurpose Room

Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The Stay Safe! program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations.

Kevin Hearne Memorial Soccer Camp Skills and Drills!6-12 yrs | Salmo Valley Youth and Community Centre

Returning for it’s 15th year, Kevin Hearne’s past teammates, friends and family bring you this popular Soccer Camp! Due to COVID -19 this years program will be run in a different format in order to maintain the safety of our staff, volunteers and participants. With a focus on skills and drills kids will have the chance to practice and refine their soccer technique. Games and scrimmages will not be played and a focus on physical distancing and safety will be in place. Please note that masks may be required during portions of this program.

Don’t forget your water bottle, shin guards and outdoor shoes.

Please Note: Jerseys and snacks will not be provided and certificates will be sent by email. Spectators are discouraged for the 6 – 9 age range and not permitted for the 10 – 12 age range.
