(Xian and Aldara walking through the forest)

Xian- Come on, Aldara. Let’s go for a walk. Being in the castle the whole day makes me bored. I need some adventure in my life.

I am a young, courageous knight. Unfortunately there are no wars in the neighbourhood at the moment.

Aldara-Oh, Xian. I don’t think it’s a good idea to go too far from our castle. It’s getting dark and there are wild animals in this forest. Don’t you hear strange noises?(… noises from wolves, owls…)

Xian- Don’t be afraid sister, those howlings are common in a forest , but you don’t have to worry because I’m here to protect you as I promised to our father in his dying bed.

(…they go on walking, suddendly Xian stops and stares at something white and round lying on the ground…)

Aldara- what are you looking at ? Xian- I must be dreaming because I’ve just seen a skull on the ground by those bushes over there. Look!

Aldara- What a crazy idea!.It can’t be that. It looks like a white stone, marble or rock crystal.

Xian- No, it’s not, Aldara. A white stone doesn’t have two holes for eyes and an open mouth full of rotten teeth. Let’s get closer and see.

Aldara- Well, I’ve just remembered that I’ve left a cake in the oven for tonight’s dinner so it’s time we went back to the castle. Xian- Go on your own. I’ll stay and prove to you that there is nothing to fear. Bones are just bones. I’ll kick the skull and play with it.

Aldara (horrified and shaking)- Xian, please. I beg you to come back with me and be more respectful to the dead.You’re not being funny.Xian- (laughing) You, fearful girl. You don’t deserve to be my sister with all that shaking . It is only a skull, some bones from a human body who died a long time ago. It cannot move or hurt anybody. Aldara- and so what is it doing in the middle of a forest? Xian -Obviously an animal dragged it from the cemetery that’s behind those trees.

Aldara- I don’t like this place anymore, I don’t like your ideas and I don’t like that skull either.

I’ll go back to the castle right now. (…she leaves and Xian is left alone with the skull…) Xian (…talking to himself… and to the skull…) Well, well. As Hamlet said:”to be or not to be, that’s the question”, ha ha ha (laughs at his own joke…)/

Well, well. Here I am on my own but as Shakespeare said: ”Cowards die many times before their death” and fortunately I’m not a coward, ha ha ha.

Dear skull , you look as bored as me. May I invite you for dinner tonight? My sister will love your visit… ha ha ha… but you know.. her cakes are disgusting UGH..!

(In that moment, the skeleton stands up and looks at the knight, he is so scared that jumps back and screams….)

Xian -Uuuuuuuugh..

Skeleton- Good evening , Honorable knight. I do not desire to reject your invitation for tonight but you should know that we skeletons cannot eat. (Xian runs away , crying for help)

Xian - Aldara …. Aldara…. Open the gate …. Aldaraaaa

( the skeleton looks at the audience and says…) Skeleton’s monologue- Why is it that young ladies are so cautious and sensible and young men are so reckless and foolish?

In my before-life I used to be a young man who never cared about the dangers of the world and one day I decided to cross the sea in search of adventure.

But the adventure turned into a nightmare when I came across a poor old man who asked me for help.

I didn’t help him and then he cursed me for eternity without eating. So look at me now. I am hungry, dead and alone.

(whispering in a rough voice) Would you like to share your life with me??

This puppet show is our second project of 'Enjoying Europe 2010-2012'. Our first one was European Olympics, Germany -there we played European traditional games.We are students and teachers of seven schools from seven European countries -Estonia, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Russia and Spain.Representatives from all the schools are taking part in this meeting in Vigo (unfortunately Russia could not come, but they are in our hearts and in the video they have sent!)The projects will last until April 2012. We have four more projects to do: Places for Youngsters (Estonia, coordinator), National Costumes (Finland, coord.), Comparing Laws (Netherlands, coord.) and Art Gallery (Poland, coord.)
