Es un honor y un privilegio el presentarles un reporte de los éxitos y logros que nuestros estudiantes y personal obtuvieron durante el año escolar 2010-2011. Siendo un distrito Reconocido por la Agencia de Educación de Texas, y finalista por dos años consecutivos del Premio Broad para la Educación Urbana, el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Socorro se enorgullece al ser reconocido en todo el estado de Texas como un líder innovador en el campo educativo.

La expectativa del Distrito que ahora cuenta con más de 43,000 estudiantes sigue creciendo y a pesar de cambios a nivel estatal de estándardes educativos, los resultados de la administración de las pruebas de TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge Skills) indican que los estudiantes del Distrito de Socorro siguen alcanzando metas y una vez más han sobresalido en comparación a los otros distritos y del estado en todas las cinco (5) áreas del examen. La Agencia de Educación de Texas prepara este reporte a petición de la Legislatura de Texas, el cual es enviado a los padres de familia de todos los niños y jóvenes inscritos en las escuelas públicas. Schoolaccountabilityratingsarebasedonthepercentofstudentspassingthe TAKS, high school completion rate, the annual dropout rate andtwo new indicators: Commended Performance and English LanguageLearnersProgress Indicator. Student Success Initiative (SSI): Iniciativa para el Éxito Estudiantil.-Estudiantesen5oy8ogradodebenpasarelTAKSenlecturaymatemáticasparapasaral6oy9ogrado.Selesdantresoportunidadesparapasar.Dependiendodesuescuela,elreportemuestra4medidas:(1)EstudiantesqueRequierenInstrucciónAcelerada(Students Requiring Accelerated Instruction) – por materia y por grado, los estudiantesquienesnopasaronelTAKSdurantelaprimeraadministración.Aestosestudiantesse les debe proveer con instrucción acelerada; (2) Estándar Cumplido del TAKSCumulativo (TAKS Cumulative Met Standard) – el porcentaje de estudiantes (noduplicados)quienestomaronyaprobaronelTAKSyasealaprimeraylasegundaadministración combinadas; (3) Reprobados del TAKS y Pasados por el ComitédeColocacióndeGradosEscolares (TAKS Failers Promoted by Grade Placement Committee)–elporcentajedeestudiantesquienesreprobarontodaslasvecesquefueronexaminadosenelTAKSdelecturayfueronavanzadosalpróximogradoporelcomitédecolocación.(4)EstudiantesquienescumplieronconelestándardelTAKS(reprobaronenelprevio)(TAKS Met Standard (Failed in previous year))—presentados cálculos para estudiantes quienes reprobaron todas las administracionesdel examen de lectura (omatemáticas) en 2010. Para aquellos quienes fueronavanzados. Attendance Rate: Tasa de Asistencia.-Estereportemuestralatasadeasistenciaestudiantildel1eral12ogradoparaelañoescolarentero.

Annual Dropout Rate: Índice Anual de Deserción Escolar.- Dependiendo delaescuela,unaodosde las siguientes tasaspuedenser reportadas: Tasadedeserciónanual (7oy8o) (Annual Dropout Rate (Gr. 7-8)); Tasadedeserciónanual(7o-12o)(Annual Dropout Rate (Gr 7-12));y(3)Tasadedeserciónanual(9o-12o)(Annual Dropout Rate (Gr 9-12))muestraelporcentajedeestudiantesenesosgradosqueabandonaronsusestudios.

Completion rate: Tasas de finalización escolar.-Estosíndicesmuestranelestatusdeestudiantesdespuesde4añosenhighschool (4-Year Completion Rate),odespuesde5añosenhighschool(5-Year Extended Completion Rate).Elíndicede4añosincluyeestudiantesqueempezaronel9ogradoen2006-07ymuestrasuestatusen2010.Elíndicede5añosincluyeestudiantesqueempezaronel9ogradoen2005-06ymuestrasuestatusen2010.Cadapresentaelporcentajedeestudiantesquienessegraduaron,recibieronunGED,continuaronenlaescuela,odesertaronsusestudios.LaTasadeFinalizaciónI(Completion Rate I)agregaelporcentajedeestudiantesquienessegraduaronocontinúanenlapreparatoria.Lamismainformaciónhasidoreportadaparalosgraduadosenel2010.TasadeFinalizaciónII(Completion Rate II)sepresentaparaescuelasalternativas.

Recommended HS and Distinguished Achievement Program Graduates: Programa Recomendado de Preparatoria y Logros Distinguidos.-Enestereportesepuedehallar el porcentaje de estudiantes que se graduaron en el 2010 y el 2009quienescumplieron los requisitosdelProgramaRecomendadodePreparatoria(Recommended High School Program)de laMesaDirectivadeEducacióndelEstadodeTexas(SBOE)oelprogramadeLogrosDistinguidos(DAP).

Texas Success Initiative (TSI): Iniciativa de Éxito para Texas.-Estainiciativa(The Texas Success Initiative)esunprogramadiseñadoparamejorarloslogrosdelosestudiantesenelámbitouniversitario. Este índicemuestraelporcentajedeestudiantescuyodesempeñoenelTAKSameritaqueselesexentedelosrequisitosdelTSI.

SAT/ACT Results: Resultados de las Pruebas SAT/ACT.- Esta tasa tiene cuatromedidas:(1)Examinados(Tested)indicaelporcentajedeestudiantesgraduadosquetomaronyaseaelexamenSAToelACT;(2)Obtuvieronpuntuaciónanivel“calificación criterio” o superior (At/Above Criterion) indica el porcentaje deestudiantes graduados quienes obtuvieron la puntuación para “calificacióncriterio”(olasuperaron)enelSAToelACT(la“calificacióncriterio”enelSATesde1,110puntosyde24puntosenelACT);y(3)&(4)PromediodecalificacionesenelSAT(Average SAT Score)yelACT(Average ACT Score)reportalospromediosenelSATyelACT.Estossereportanparalasgeneracionesdelaño2010y2009.

Instructional Staff Percent: Porcentaje del Personal de Instrucción.-Estamedidaindica el porcentaje del total de empleados de tiempo completo cuyadescripcióndesusfuncionesdetrabajoesladeproveerinstruccióndirectaenelsalóndeclasesaestudiantesduranteelañoescolar2010-11.

Instructional Expenditure Ratio: Tasa de Gastos de Instrucción.- Esta medidamuestraelporcentajedeltotalactualdelosgastosdeldistritoparaelañofiscal2009-10 que fueron utilizados para pagar actividades de instrucción directa(direct instructional activities).

Expenditures per Student: Gastos por Estudiante.-Estamedidamuestralosgastosactualesduranteelañoescolar2009-10paravariosgruposdefuncionesdivididaporelnúmerodeestudiantesen2009-10.Noteque losgastos reportadosnosonlacantidadquesegastóenactualidadparacadaestudiante,peroesunpromediodeltotal(per-pupil average of the total).Estosgastosporestudianteson reportados por gastos totales en cada unade las seis agrupaciones decategoríasdeoperaciones.
