Check all oil levels, coolant levels, and fuel levels.

NOTICEAccumulated grease and oil on a machine is a fire haz-ard. Remove this debris with steam cleaning or highpressure water, at least every 1000 hours or each timeany significant quantity of oil is spilled on a machine.
Perform the following procedures on a daily basis.

Inspection points for hydraulic cylinders
Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks. Inspect thehydraulic cylinders and inspect the cylinder rods andseals for damage or for excessive wear. Inspect thelinkage and the work tool for damage or for excessivewear. Make any necessary repairs.

Inspect the following additional components:
the hydraulic tank
the hoses
the tubes
the plugs
the connecting joints
the hydraulic fittings
Correct any leaks in the hydraulic system.
Inspect the final drives for leaks. Make any necessaryrepairs. Check the oil level if you see leakage.
Inspect the swing drive for leaks. Make anynecessary repairs.

Inspection points for lights
Inspect the lights for broken bulbs and for brokenlenses. Replace any broken components.

Inspect the engine compartment for any trashbuildup. Remove any trash buildup from the enginecompartment.
Inspect the cooling system for any leaks, for faultyhoses, and for any trash buildup. Correct any leaks,
and remove any trash from the radiator.
Inspect all of the belts for the engine attachments.Replace any belts that are worn, frayed, or broken.
Make sure that all covers and guards are securelyattached. Inspect the covers and the guards fordamage.

Inspection points for steps, covers, guards, and walkways
Inspect the steps, the walkways, and the handholds.Clean the steps, the walkways, and the handholds.
Make any necessary repairs.
Inspect the Falling Object Protective Structure fordamage. Tighten any loose bolts. If repairs areneeded, consult your Caterpillar dealer.
Inspect the operator compartment for trash buildup.Check for trash buildup under the floorplate. Keepthese areas clean.
Adjust the rearview mirrors for the best operatorvision.

Mounting and Dismounting

Use steps and handholds whenever you mountthe machine. Use steps and handholds wheneveryou dismount the machine. Before you mount themachine, clean the step and the handholds. Inspectthe step and handholds. Make all necessary repairs.
Face the machine whenever you mount the machineand whenever you dismount the machine. Maintain athree-point contact with the step and with handholds.
Note: Three-point contact can be two feet and onehand. Three-point contact can also be one foot and
two hands.
Do not mount a moving machine. Do not dismount amoving machine. Never jump off the machine. Donot try to mount the machine when you carry toolsor supplies. Do not try to dismount the machinewhen you are carrying tools or supplies. Use a handline to pull equipment onto the platform. Do notuse any controls as handholds when you enter theoperator compartment or when you exit the operatorcompartment.
