Constitution Day

Required by law to recognize this day at school

September 17, 2007 is the national holiday “Constitution Day”. Today the nation honors the writing and adoption of the constitution by which each American has been given their rights and freedoms by the most democratic government in the world. On September 17, 1787, government officials met with one item on their agenda. That item was to sign the Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution, signed in Philadelphia, represents the greatest expression of statesmanship and compromise ever written. In just four hand-written pages, the Constitution gives us no less than the owners' manual to the greatest form of government the world has ever known. So, take time today to honor your country in the celebration of “Constitution Day”.
