    . Introduction

    1. SNU in the World Seoul National University has achieved a great deal in its over sixty-year history. As an indisputable leader of tertiary education in Korea, it is known for its quality graduates. The University has made its reputation by maintaining a high standard of education and research. The foundation of SNU in 1946 marked the first national university in modern Korean history. Originally, the university was composed of one graduate school and nine colleges, with 491 faculty members and 4,500 students. Today, the university is comprised of 16 colleges, 10 specialized graduate schools, 1 graduate school, and 137 research institutes and other supporting facilities with 3,956 faculty members and 28,490 students. The mission of Seoul National University in the current era is to create a vibrant intellectual community between students and scholars. As Korea's leading university, Seoul National University is committed to diversifying its student body and faculty, fostering global exchange programs, and promoting outstanding research in all fields of studies. SNU was ranked 31th in 2014 QS World University Rankings. Also, it ranked 5th in terms of the number of CEOs in the worlds 500 leading companies, according to the research conducted by the Ecole des Mines de Paris (Mines Paris Tech). SNU now works towards becoming one of the top ten universities in the world by 2025.

    3) Number of SCI publications 17th in the world 2009 World University Ranking (by the Number of SCI Publications) - SNU has made numerous contributions to scientific research, especially in IT, BT, and NT technologies. As of 2009, it was ranked 17th in the Science Citation Index, the worldwide standard to assess research capacity.

    4) Producing Leaders in Global Business Seoul National University has produced many leaders in international business. According to the Professional Ranking of World Universities, conducted by the Ecole des Mines de Paris - MINES Paris Tech, it was ranked 5th in terms of the number of CEO-position alumni in the worlds 500 leading companies, testifying the efficiency of SNUs professional training programs.

    3. Admissions Criteria Admissions decisions are based on an overall evaluation of the applicants academic prospects, taking a holistic approach. The basis of such an evaluation is the documents submitted by the applicant, which are used to assess the applicants academic achievements, relevant extracurricular activities, interest in the applied course, language proficiency, performance competency, and other relevant factors. Depending on the policy of specific college or department, the applicant may be asked to undertake interviews, examinations, and/or a performance test. In such a case, the applicant will be individually notified of these details by the corresponding department or college. The following documents are to be examined as the admissions criteria;

    1) Academic Transcript

    2) Personal Statement and Study Plan

    3) Letters of Recommendation

    4) Proof of language proficiency: TOPIK, KLAT, TEPS, TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, HSK, JLPT, DELF/DALF, DELE , ZD, or other approved type.

    5) Official school introduction/profile(s) published by the applicants high school or the Ministry of Education; such documents may include information on the high schools curriculum, the availability of advanced coursework, the student body size, the grade distribution of enrolled students, standardized test performance distributions, the student selection process, admissions requirements, and the ratio of students pursuing tertiary education.

    6) Supplementary materials will be taken into consideration for admissions decisions, if submitted. The following documents are examples of supplementary materials, though this is not an exhaustive list.

    . Important Notes for All Applicants1. All documents should be in English or Korean. Documents in any other

    language should be accompanied with a notarized English or Korean translation.

    2. Submitted documents should be original. Should they be unavailable, however, certified copies must be recognized as being authentic by the issuing authority prior to the submission.

    3. Be sure to make and keep photocopies of all the completed forms. Submitted documents become the property of SNU and will not be returned to the applicants.

    4. If any of the submitted materials contains false information, admission may be rescinded.

    5. Detailed account of individual admission decision for each applicant cannot be disclosed.

    6. Please be sure that, in principle, any modification or cancellation will not be accepted after submitting the application. Hence applicants should take a full responsibility for any disadvantages resulting from the mistakes or omissions in the application.
