Winner Certificate Global University Challenge 2016 - Enabling the Digital Twin - siemens.com/power-gas Avinash Misra (IE Business School) successfully participated as a finalist in the Siemens Global University Challenge 2016 and was selected as one of the twelve winning teams worldwide. The Global University Challenge is an open innovation project organized by Siemens Power & Gas, Siemens Digital Factory, Corporate Technology and Human Resources involving students of eight universities worldwide: RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, University of Potsdam (Germany), IE Business School (Madrid, Spain), Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Central Florida (USA), Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). The topic of the Global University Challenge 2016 is “Enabling the digital twin”. A key aspect in future industry is the availability of a digital representation of machines, components or manufacturing processes. That is the so called 'digital twin'. With a digital twin, manufacturers are able to use the power of digitalization to achieve improved efficiency and quality. The participant handed in an innovative idea regarding the mentioned topic, further developed the idea with Siemens Experts on an online innovation platform and uploaded a visualization of the idea. Additionally the participant gained knowledge of Tecnomatix Plant Simulation Software v13 in a one-day training executed by Siemens Digital Factory. selected as one of the twelve winning teams worldwide. The Global University Challenge is an

open innovation project organized by Siemens Power & Gas, Siemens Digital Factory, Corporate
