carpafter years of testing and deVeloPing with astounding results we are now ready to launCh Code red. it is the first boilie of its kind whiCh we belieVe will Change CarP angling foreVer, it Certainly has done for the likes of ian russell and Chris lowe who haVe had their most ProduCtiVe years eVer and they both Put it down to Code red.

haVing owned a Very suCCessful CarP bait ComPany, i was eCstatiC when daVid Preston and ian day asked me to be inVolVed with the Creation of a new range of CarP baits for sonubaits.

From day one, david and ian had a clear idea of what they wanted to create. The idea was to design a boilie that would work straight away and begin releasing attractors as soon as it hit the water. due to the demands of modern-day carp anglers, the bait needed to be successful on every lake in the country and catch carp quickly. as well as this, it needed to be a long-term food bait which the carp would associate as a top-quality food source if it were introduced over a prolonged period.

now it’s all well and good creating a bait that catches loads of fish, but the bait also needed to meet the requirements of the modern-day angler. The boilies needed to be convenient and easy to store because we don’t all have access to

a freezer. For this reason, the decision was made to create a shelf-life boilie but this would be a shelf-life bait with a difference.

although frozen boilies do catch carp and they are undoubtedly popular with carp anglers, they do have their downsides. Frozen bait stored inside a sealed bag will turn mouldy very quickly, especially during the warmer months. To combat this anglers store their frozen boilies in air-dry bags, but these can cause problems too. an air-dry bag changes the hardness of the bait, i generally believe the harder a boilie is the less effective it can be. a hard boilie cannot take on the lake water as quickly as a softer boilie, which means that it cannot release its active ingredients to attract the carp.

have you ever been fishing and found yourself running out of frozen baits because you didn’t take enough with you because you didn’t want to waste them if the fish weren’t feeding? if frozen baits aren’t used once they have been taken on the bank, it’s common for anglers to put them back in the freezer until their next session. Would you consider taking a food item out of the freezer for a few days, drying it out and then refreezing it? although doing this with boilies wouldn’t harm the carp in any way, they certainly wouldn’t be as appealing as when they were fresh.

So what’s the answer to this? Well, i genuinely believe that the new Sonubaits Code red boilies have solved an age-old problem faced by lots of carp anglers. From now on, there’s no need to compromise between freshness and convenience. We have designed a boilie from scratch, taking all the best features from freezer baits and shelf-life boilies. The high levels of liquid food attractors in Code red boilies means that they have the same texture as a frozen bait and therefore the attractants and food signals start releasing straight away when the boilies are in the water. The levels of highly digestible ingredients, including pre-digested fishmeal and liquid liver means the carp will recognise Code red as a valuable food source and keep coming back for more.

With the inclusion of natural preservatives such as salt, sugar and oil along with modern tasteless and odourless preservatives used in the food industry, we have created a fantastic bait that stays fresh, therefore there’s no need for freezers, air drying, rehydrating and you’ll never have to throw any mouldy boilies away. They can be left in cool and dark conditions all-year round ready to be used instantly when needed.

as soon as i started using Code red, i knew we were onto something very special. To begin with i tested it on a variety of different pressured day-ticket venues to see how quick the carp responded to it. i started catching carp instantly and more noticeably the bait seemed to single out the larger specimens. Over the space of a year i spent my time flitting from venue to venue, each time i found myself catching more than the other anglers around me. it really did bring results fast!

everything fell into place when, in just 48 hours,

i landed 22 carpian ruSSeLL

Once we’d established that the bait would work instantly for those anglers that fish a variety of different venues, we needed to make sure that it would work well for those that like to prebait and establish a proven food source. even though i knew the bait contained the correct credentials, i still wanted to test it in a campaign-type scenario, so i headed down to unity Lake in Oxford. unity is an extremely pressured syndicate lake at Linear Fisheries that is fished by some of the best anglers in the country. The fish have seen it all before and i knew it wasn’t going to be an easy prospect. i opted for 15mm and 18mm boilies and decided to use either 15mm boilies or pop ups as hookbaits that had been soaked in Code red glug to increase attraction.

The campaign started well and as expected i started catching from the off. i was fishing a nice clear area in open water and introducing a couple of kilos of boilies after every session to encourage the carp to feed confidently on Code red. as a general rule of thumb i was fishing three days at a time, similar to the amount of time most weekend anglers get on the bank. everything fell into place on only my fourth session of the campaign when in just 48 hours i landed 22 carp, including numerous twenties, a 36lb mirror, 37lb ghostie and the lake’s largest common at 43lb 12oz. The pressured fish in the lake really took a liking to Code red and over the course of the year i went on to bag several more thirties and another forty.

i wasn’t the only angler who was having remarkable results on Code red. The bait was being thoroughly tested by the Sonubaits and avid Carp Teams and to say the results have been astounding really would be an understatement. Since using the bait both teams have noticed dramatic increases in the amount of carp they have caught and most have smashed their long-standing pbs. Chris Lowe has absolutely dominated the day-ticket venues on the Linear complex bagging numerous large carp, including The Small plated and The box Common from St johns. avid brand manager jon ‘Shoes’ jones also had one of best braces of the year from acton burnell bottom Lake, when he landed two incredible 40lb-plus carp in one session.

Code red has been used exclusively by our pool of talented anglers for two years, and to be fair, this is an unusually long term test for any bait, but we had to be sure the range was going to make the difference. We wanted to create a bait that would catch carp, but also catch them quicker than other boilies on the market. i can honestly say that this is the best bait i have ever used and over the last two years i’ve caught more carp than ever before. i put this down to one thing and one thing only – Code red. it really is the best bait i’ve ever used. now you guys can use it too.

you will not be disappointed.

Oozing Pop Ups

a TOTaLLy neW COnCepT in pOp upS

during manufacturing, Oozing pop ups are made with very high levels of highly water soluble ingredients including flavours and colours, because of this once they are in water they begin to leak off their attractants into the water and you can actually see the colour and flavour oozing out of the pop up into the water column. not only does this create a visual attraction it also leads a flavour trail to the pop up which increases in concentration the closer a carp gets to the bait.

This flavour trail oozes from the pop up for over 24 hours due to the high levels which are put in at manufacturing level so the ingredients do not wash off and away quickly.

The flavour is slightly heavier than water so will ooze down or be carried away from the from the pop up depending on the underwater currents making it perfect for Chod or zig rigs as well as all other pop up rigs.

There are 4 flavours in the range, all in ultra buoyant 15mm.
