堂區通訊

主仍活著！

耶穌死後，仍然活著。每年的復活節，是重要的節期，聖教會藉此節期，來提醒我們，基督信仰的核心。就如聖父本篤十六世所言，沒有十字架和復活，基督徒之崇拜，是虛無和空洞的。

主仍活著，因衪就是厄瑪奴耳，天主與我們同在。基督的復活，就是喜樂的時期。因為藉主的苦難，我們得罪之赦；又藉主的復活，我們得新生命。今年，堂區有127名弟兄姊妹，回應天主的召叫，接受了洗禮，成為天主的子女，加入教會的大家庭。

這過百位的兄弟姊妹，死於舊我，藉著水和聖神，獲得新的生命；這新生命，是充滿恩寵和喜樂的。不過，接受聖洗聖事，並非最終之目的，而是生命旅程的開始。我們要努力奮鬥，去延續和保持這新生命。

我們的信德，要教我們進一步與主交談，並將我們的信仰，融合在我們的生活中。在禱告中、在聖言中、在衪的體血中，讓天主掌管我們每天的生活，這才是真正的基督徒生活。求主增加我們的信德，以追求天主的事，而非地上的事，「你們既然與基督一同復活了，就該追求天上的事，在那裡有基督坐在天主的右邊。」（哥3:1）

為已領洗的教友，讓我們懷念聖洗的大恩，切勿失落此新生命，要好好的把這新生命，生活出來。同時，也要讓復活的喜樂，永遠洋溢在我們的心中，這就是真正的福傳。

最後，我們要在這節期中，滿懷基督復活的喜樂，好好準備自己，迎接「升天節」、「五旬期」及「聖體聖血節」。

一年一度的堂區長者聯歡午宴已於2017年1月14日（星期六）中午12時至下午2時，在窩打老道富臨皇宮舉行。參加人數共144位，包括成博華神父、孟一仁神父、梅杰神父、梁成玨執事、朱念祖執事及王彬彬修女；善會團體和工作人員。聖德肋撒醫院長者包括林志遠神父、陸達初神父及修女們。

聚會由大會司儀潘太致歡迎詞，堂區議會副會長曾楚薇致詞。席間有神父派利是，幸運大抽獎，詠唱「常歡笑」、「祝福這一天」及「知足常樂」。

在誦唱聖母經及致送禮物予神長和善會代表後，午宴便完滿結束；大家便懷著愉快及感恩的心情離去。相信與會者都有堂區是我家的溫暖感覺！祈望在聖神的帶領下，堂區善會團體及教友能同心同德，為服務及建設堂區這個大家庭而努力。

善別組於3月19日下午三時半在堂區會議中心C102室舉行第十三屆週年大會。神師成博華神父，組長張燦仲兄弟，12位幹事成員及組員共30人出席。

組長除了匯報整年的善別服務外，還鼓勵組員要以信、望、愛三德，履行這職務；因為在協助亡者及其家屬時，既體現信仰，實踐愛德，宣示永生的希望，也能體驗天主的救恩。

善別組組員在參與晚上六時的感恩祭後，便一起到明愛餐廳享用自助晚宴。參加者除了組員及親友外，還有神父、執事、修女、堂區職員、議會幹事和善會代表。當晚約有50位兄弟姊妹一起以歌聲讚美天主。大會司儀潘太更花盡心思，以遊戲及抽獎節目增添大家團結友愛之情。

組長感謝組員不單只勞心勞力，不懼風雨，更犧牲自己許多時間，服務堂區已亡的兄弟姊妹。在今次會慶中，組員更贊助禮品及禮金抽獎，大大增加當晚歡樂的氣氛。

歡樂時光過得很快，晚宴後，各人均懷著感恩的心情，盡興而歸。

今年復活節我們堂區共有百多位兄弟姐妹領洗加入了公教的大家庭，在此我們向他們表示衷心地歡迎。

領洗是踏上信仰道路上一個重要的起點。「凡是領了洗歸於基督的，就是穿上基督」(迦3:27)。這表示從此以後我們在日常生活上要以活出基督的肖像為目標，在跟從自我的本性或耶穌所指示的真理中，選擇跟隨基督。

行走這條永生之路並不容易。不過，耶穌完全明白我們人性的軟弱，所以賜予我們入門之後各種聖事，幫助我們透過參與每周感恩祭，恭領聖體和忠誠的辦修和聖事而獲得力量。在這條信仰生活的旅程上，每個人也都需要同行者的支持和鼓勵。我們堂區有各種不同性質的服務團體和善會，為每位領洗後的教友提供團體生活及靈修共融的機會。此外，我們堂區大家庭更經常舉辦各種活動，期待新教友們熱烈的參與。

最後，讓我們為這些新領洗的教友們獻上我們的祝福和祈禱，願仁慈的天主帶領我們全體教友在彼此身上看見復活的基督。

還記得在新加坡讀書時，聽過代父（他是澳門人），和青年組神師溫國光神父說過，每年四旬期的第一主日，澳門教區都會舉行苦難善耶穌出巡，又俗稱「大耶穌出遊」。這個遊行在澳門享負盛名，吸引很多來自世界各地的旅客，及港澳兩地的教友參與。

今年三月四日至五日，我和青年組的成員一起到澳門參加出遊，順道到澳門朝聖。行程中我們要多謝在澳門工作的青年組組員，以及她在澳門的朋友相助，帶我們到當地具特色的聖堂朝聖，例如：聖母誕辰主教座堂、聖母雪地殿（東望洋）、氹仔嘉模聖母堂、聖母玫瑰堂等等。

重頭戲當然是苦難善耶穌出巡，巡遊為期兩日，（即四旬期第一主日前夕及正日）在晚上舉行。今年的路線與以往不同，傳統的路線都會從崗頂聖奧斯定堂出發遊行到主教座堂，再由主教座堂遊回到崗頂聖奧斯定堂。由於聖奧斯定堂裝修，所以今年的起點及回程則改為聖母玫瑰堂。

這兩天的遊行，要分開說才能說明我的感受。首先在星期六，我們一行人在出遊時站在較後的地方。當耶穌苦像蓋起來時，讓我自己感受到，自己是在聖經裡的其中一個僕役，看到耶穌因我們的背叛，而被捕押到大司祭的家中，然後被橫押到家裏的監獄裏，不能出聲。此刻心中很想說：「主耶穌，我們對不起你，我們出賣你。」

至於第二天，當我們站在主教座堂外、緊貼在澳門警察銀樂隊後等候，就如猶太人到了比拉多的總督府外等候審判結果，頓時覺得自己也是那群猶太人的一份子，要看看耶穌被押到加爾瓦略山、目睹祂釘死在十字架上為止。當時心裡想起逢聖週五必唱的歌曲——《基督譴責》，心裡不禁悲痛起來。

但這個旅程也是一個很好的經歷，感謝天主給了我這一次的體驗，感謝天父的寬仁和慈悲，藉主耶穌基督的救贖工程，讓我們得到永生。在大耶穌出遊中，警察樂隊演奏、貞女唱悲歌、耶穌背負十字架、街上旁人的圍觀⋯⋯彷如真實地走著主耶穌準備被釘十字架的路。每一處都是天主對我們無限的愛，所以，同樣地，我們都要努力做好自己，以回應衪對我們的愛，並時常醒悟、定改、皈依，透過生活工作，將耶穌基督這份愛帶給身邊的人。

2017年逾越節三日慶典

禮儀由梁達材神父主禮，禮儀為紀念耶穌基督為門徒洗腳及建立聖體聖事。當中，主祭為12位堂區男士代表舉行濯足禮。禮儀後，主祭恭移聖體，聖體安放於祭台上直至午夜，讓教友在聖體前陪伴耶穌，同時耶穌也在此夜陪伴大家。

梁神父在講道中，強調福音中耶穌提醒我們要彼此相愛。透過建立聖體聖事，耶穌改變了我們的生命，使它充滿基督的愛。主耶穌希望眾人都能合而為一，跟隨主，活出耶穌基督的教導，多愛身邊的人。縱使困難，只要對天主保持信賴，及聖神所賜予的力量，終能使耶穌生活在我們的生命裡，活出衪的愛德。

聖週四：主的晚餐

當日禮儀氣氛嚴肅，主禮溫國光神父靜默進堂。聖道禮中內容圍繞耶穌的死亡及其所帶來的救恩。朝拜十字聖木的過程最為莊重，神父親吻十字聖木，眾信友排隊走到十字架前虔誠鞠躬或單膝下跪。

如早上的拜苦路一樣，在默想耶穌基督的苦難時，也要同時記起衪戰勝死亡並復活的奧蹟。救主的復活是我們信仰的中心，我們要為此喜樂及感恩。主基督為我們犧牲了性命，使我們獲得救贖。那我們在信仰生活中，可有決心為天主放棄自我，令自己肖似基督呢？

聖週六：復活前夕逾越慶典

這一天是逾越節三日慶典的高峰，禮儀也是一年內最隆重的。特別透過入門聖事，以水靜化人的心靈，使他們獲得救贖。今年，本堂有127人領洗，值得感恩。禮儀中，主祭燃點復活蠟燭，代表復活基督的光榮。領唱員三次領唱「亞肋路亞」，為隆重讚揚上主，氣氛濃厚。候洗者及教友，一同宣認信仰，活出教會「唯一至聖、至公」的真道。

2017年新教友感想

感謝主賜給我在聖德肋撒堂跟隨導師們學習道理的機會。一直在基督教中學成長的，曾經嘗試跟著同學們返基督教所稱的「教會」，但是一直都沒有機會成為他們的一份子，我信福音精神、道理，但因為純粹返「教會」，不太能令我認識祂，信德欠奉，然後到上大學、出來工作，再也沒有機會再次接觸基督教了，但是我心裡還有一股想追隨信仰的心，可幸的事，直到上年在丈夫的朋友鼓勵下，和丈夫一齊參加慕道班。我是一個慢熱的人，而慕道班的漸進卻令我比起中學時期更容易接受，許多故事、道理再一次聽，已有不同的感受。我深深感受到祂的無私、偉大、慈愛等等，學習道理的過程，令我有一大反省，平時在日常生活中的一些不好的事，我都會時刻提醒自己要效法基督精神。我是一個幸運的人，從小到現在，都一帆風順，而我信這是主的安排。這信仰對我來說很重要，每天繁忙的工作、家庭的事令我很大的壓力，但透過祈禱令我覺得平安，心靈得到滿足。我希望我能影響我的家人，兒子一起效法基督精神，互相扶持，直到永遠。

回想起當初曾經擔心，這約一年半的慕道課程會否沒有信心完成之際，現在自己已經在聖堂領洗了。能夠加入天主耶穌基督這個大家庭而成為新教友，心裡確實感到萬分榮幸及感恩。

「羅馬天主教」這個名字對於我來說並不陌生，我從小學至中學的學校都是由天主教會創辦的，對於天主經、玫瑰經、聖母經等等，已是每天都要誦念的。但這些都只是學校要求，自己並非信主的人，直到自己投入社會工作了一段時間，便開始思考為甚麼我會出生、成為人，這個世界為何天地萬物都安排得非常巧合呢？突然令我回想起在學校時聖經班的老師提及過有關於聖經《創世記》中的一些事情，但當時的我只是當作神話故事的精彩內容便而已，並沒有刻意深入研究。

世事往往就是這樣的，其實上主已經為我安排了一切，只是自己不察覺的⋯⋯當自己認真想了解多一點有關於天主的事情時，突然在朋友介紹之下比我認識到我現在的太太，她本人及其家人都是天主教徒。當我和她一起後便有時候，也會跟她一起去感恩祭。每次步入聖堂坐下時，感覺很舒服，氣氛很莊嚴⋯⋯漸漸地便開始想了解多一點有關於天主教的事情，於是便加入了慕道班。

透過導師的教導及分享，我開始學習祈禱及將自己生活上遇到的困難交托 天主耶穌，為我分擔，在領洗後自己在信仰上才是剛剛開始的及透過初次領聖體感受和天主耶穌一起的親切感。

最後，本人在此再次感謝慕道班的所有導師及陪談員，為我們這班慕道者所作出的努力及貢獻。

燭光徐徐飄蕩，輕烟緩緩上升。在神父帶領下，我們從黑暗走向光明，接受了聖洗、堅振和聖體三種聖事。在神聖的教堂裡，我終於受洗成為天主的兒女。那一刻感到非常奇妙，身心靈被洗滌，像新生命的開始，頓時享受到平安喜樂。在此，我由衷讚美、感謝天主聖神降臨，使我蒙受恩寵。我感謝慕道班的同行者、陪談員、代母帶領我，繼續指導我以後的信仰路程。

「我是教友，頂大光榮，領洗以後，做耶穌兵。現在唱歌，發顯愛情。我是基督徒，我是基督徒。」輕快的歌聲縈繞着⋯⋯

我自小在基督教學校就讀，對基督教有基本認識，但一直都沒有認真的信仰。隨著家人開始成為天主教徒，加上生活上自己經歷的一個重大困難，我開始想到天

父，希望深入認識祂的道理。感謝妹妹的幫助，我開始上慕道班，使我不知從何時開始，由最初不相信天主是唯一的天

主，到現在很自然地深信天主是唯一的神。每次當我遇到挫折或困難時，總是能透過祈禱令心境平靜下來，令自己有勇氣去面對前路。我相信祈禱是能夠與天主維持密切關係的最好方法，天父及主耶穌是我最可靠的依賴；同時我亦希望從今以後，我的一言一行都能遵從天主的教誨。

距離領洗的日子還有四個月，我認為對天主的認識仍不夠深，所以希望能不斷學習，認識自己的不足，改善不好的習慣及不要犯重複的罪過，最終可以成為天主的女兒。

在聖母內的袍澤情懷

戰爭當然是心靈與肉體上的折騰與痛苦；然而，卻不時聽見退伍軍人道出：「我懷念那裡的一切。」

他們的懷念是一種特殊的情懷，那種軍人間的同袍之情，有別於友情。友情是指當你發現與他人談得來、越來越喜歡他，進而願意為他付出的情誼。但同袍之情無關你對另一個人的感情，那是一種被註定要生死與共的群體共識，是與整個軍旅及其他士兵之間的情感聯繫，所有人會把團體的價值放在自我之上，甘願接受約束，放輕自我，願意犧牲的表現。

這種特殊情感在聖母軍生活上都可感受到的，大家對同一對象效忠⋯⋯聖母；抗擊同一敵人⋯⋯魔鬼；都在艱難的環境中背負重擔，互相照應，為人靈服務。例如，兩個兩個在街頭遭受拒絕，來不及嘆氣，又再上征途；當看著活動中的團體照，會珍惜每刻相聚，共沐主恩；幾許在奔赴工作途中，遇上素未謀面的同袍，一個眼神，一絲微笑，已道盡千言。

常聽見「一日聖母軍，一生聖母軍」，這絕不是一句生硬的承諾，而是一種由衷的情懷，把所有活動的、輔助的、現世的、天上的團員永遠的聯繫到聖母無玷聖心當中。這或許解釋到為甚麼過往因種種問題離開了的活動團員，大多數都在一段時期後又再回來這個屬於聖母的軍旅服役了。

相信處於現實社會罪惡的圍堵當中，每個團員因「成聖亅的使命，也會道出一句：「我懷念聖母軍那裡的一切。」

The resurrection of Christ is the core of our faith. Yet, if we mentionthe message of the resurrection, we have to mention the passion and crucifixionof  Christ  as  well,  which  is  a  whole  set  of  “formula”.  The  passion  of  Christbasically  means  Jesus’s  love  for  human.  Because  of  this  love,  he  choosessuffering and death. We should always meditate on this, by looking at the crucifix.

Humanly  speaking,  this  “method” of  saving people  is  very  ironic  andunreal; but when things are more ironic, there is more room for meditating andunderstanding to see things. Supernaturally speaking, the way Christ saves soulsis the most perfect and realistic way, because God lowered Himself by using ahuman way to teach us how to bear suffering, how to listen to God’s will, andhow to reach heaven.

Our Lord Jesus is perfect God and perfect man. Jesus has his own weakness, and it can be seen in hisconversation with God, “Father, if thou art willing, remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will, butthine, be done” (Lk 22:42). As God, he knows he is going to suffer; as man, he fears. But the fear doesn’t causehim to deny the cup that God the Father has prepared. In fact, “he humbled himself, becoming obedient tothe point of death, even death on a cross” (Phil  2:8). From this passion,  Jesus  teaches us a deep  lesson onobedience to God’s will.

What is God’s will? Everyone has a different answer, but it also depends on the person’s relationshipwith God, as well as our love towards God. Many times, especially when we live in this materialized world,what we usually ask God for are some very external things, such as friendship, relationships, wealth, careeretc. But God’s will never stays at this level: it’s more on a supernatural level. There is only one ultimate purposeof God’s will, that is wanting us to sanctify ourselves, as well as sanctifying others, so that we can enter heavento be with Him. There is no end in the work of sanctification. No matter how old we are, we have to struggleto sanctify ourselves. This is a lifetime mission that God has entrusted to us.

We usually see God’s will clearly whenever we encounter different challenges and sufferings, maybesome  critical  illnesses,  death,  relationship  failure  etc.  Life  brings many  “problems,”  and  they  can  be  oursuffering at any time. When these challenges come, we usually ask why we have to bear them. Why does Godallow us to encounter these sufferings, and then (hopefully not) we complain and question God.

We have to see things from a supernatural standpoint, and deeply understand that these sufferingsare one of the ways of God’s love. God wants us to see things with a supernatural outlook. He wants us to bestrong, to struggle and to have a deeper conversion, in order to get closer to Him. If we allow God to guideus and walk with us in these sufferings, we are walking the way to holiness. Therefore, when we pray, weshould always pray “Thy will be done,” always remembering that we have to live according to God’s will.

I remember a priest saying that God usually has three answers upon our requests, he said “God onlyhas these three possible answers: The first is “Yes,” the second is “Not now,” and the third, “I have somethingbetter for you.” Even when God does not give us what we want, it is definitely for our own good, and thisdepends a lot on our faith and hope in God, we just have to follow God’s pace.

When we keep this frame of mind in our suffering, we can understand that suffering is also the will ofGod, and is definitely for our own good. It  is a way of purifying our  imperfect souls. Everyone encounterssuffering and pain, a necessary way to heaven, because “whoever does not take up his cross and follow afterme is not worthy of me” (Mt 10:38).

Suffering is a training on the way for a soul to reach God, to reach heaven. Suffering maybe also a wayto train us not to fear the cross. However, if we would like to follow Christ, we should take up these sufferingsand follow Him (cf Mt 16:24). But we can choose how to carry it, either joyfully or painfully. But most importantly,behind these sufferings that God has willed, God’s grace is always there, and we are never alone. St JohnVianney reminds us, “Our greatest cross is the fear of crosses.” Let us, therefore, ask our Lord  to give us moregraces, and deliver us from our fear of the cross, of these sufferings.

Personal Sharing on the Easter Vigil

The Easter Vigil Mass  is one of the most  importantmasses in the Catholic Church. Catholics throughout the entireworld celebrate it as the holiest mass during the evening, inunion with Jesus Christ and with all of the brothers and sisters.

We welcome also the new members into the Catholicchurch as well during the Mass. Above all, the vigil mass fieldsa great spiritual solidarity with the community and Jesus.  Wepray for them as they consecrate their lives to Jesus Christ.  Itis a very holy and unifying experience to attend the Easter VigilMass.

The Easter Vigil Mass always takes place after nightfall,as the church lights are switched off in pit‐darkness waiting.The light of Christ has gone out of the world and darkness hascovered the earth as  the Easter Vigil Mass  takes place.    ''Amatch  is then struck  in the darkness and the Easter fires  litoutside of the church''.  This phrase is according to the Bibleverse of our Lord Jesus Christ when it is depicted that the lightthat dispels the darkness of our world is lit up by a match andcandle imitating the candlelight of eternal flame. In memoryof attending the Easter Vigil Mass, it gives Catholics a senseof peace and connection with Jesus when carrying the candleor  flame. Through observation,  the gentle  flame that nightresembles a lot about how life can personally spark personalfaith during the evening and a brand new fire that has begunto burn amidst the city noises and a small blow of wind bringsus  a  new  paschal  candle  light  to  the  church  during  thedarkness night in prayer.  The priest acts in the place of JesusChrist, as he leads the people who are gathered there withhim at the empty church, and carrying the newly lit paschalcandle into the church that awaits his return in total darkness.It is Jesus Christ alone who dispels the darkness of our lives.''And for all that we do, and all that we are, it seems nothingwithout  him;  for  he  is  the  source  of  all  the  love,  light  andgoodness in our lives''.

In  Conclusion,  I wish  to  remind  other  Catholics,  thatattending  the  Easter  Vigil  Mass  is  only  the  beginning  torealizing  the  meaning  about  personal  reconciliation.  AndSecond matter in advice is for our community to continuallypray  the  rosary,  and  also  pray  the  Magnificat  and  prayconstantly for Mother Mary to ask for steadfast guidance inlife.

STFCC LENT RECOLLECTION

The St. Teresa’s Filipino Group organized a Lent Recollection with the theme Here I am, Lordon 19 March, 2017 held at St. Teresa’s parish gym. We are blessed to have invited Fr. Miriyala Bala Kishoreas our speaker. Fr. Kishore is from the SDB Congregation (Salesian of Don Bosco)  

The event started with the Bible Enthronement, and was well attended by all members.

“Here I am, Lord” is the answer to God’s call. If we follow God’s call, we must surrender everythingwithout  second  thought. Give our  trust  fully  to Him, no matter what  trials and difficulties we mayencounter especially in serving Him we must have faith. In serving God there is no looking back on ourpast, for they will just serve as hindrance to the growth of ourlittle faith. Instead keep moving and keep believing so that, thatlittle faith may flourish. Father, remind all of us that Lent is thetime of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

The day finished with Stations of the Cross and Holy Hourof Adoration presided by our parish priest Fr. Peter Leung, whereeveryone had the chance to thank the Lord for the wonderfulexperience of praising Him.

As we enter May, which is the month of Our Lady, it is always go toour mother  in Heaven, pray  to her  and  seek her  intercession. Below  is  anintroduction on explaining the devotions to Our Lady in May.

"God wills that all his gifts should come to us through Mary"   (St. Bernard)

It was  in Rome, towards the end of the eighteenth century, one fineevening in May. A child of the poor gathered his companions around him andled  them to a  statue of Mary, before which a  lamp was burning, as  is  thecustom in that holy city. There, these fresh young voices sang the Litany ofour Lady. The next day,  the  little group,  followed by other children, againgathered at the feet of the Mother of God. Next came their mothers, to jointhe little assembly. Soon, other groups were formed, and the devotion rapidlybecame popular. Holy souls, troubled by the disorderly conduct which always

increases and becomes graver at the return of the pleasant springtime, saw in these growing practicesthe hand of God, and they cooperated with the designs of Providence by approving and promoting thisnew devotion, as a public and solemn act of reparation. The Month of Mary was founded.

"This is the month in which, in the churches and individual homes, the most affectionate and ferventhomage of prayers and devotions from the hearts of Christians are raised to Mary. It is also the monthin which from his throne descend upon us the most generous and abundant gifts of the Divine Mercy."

In our own times, we Catholics, wanting to be close to her always, offer her special presents in May:pilgrimages,  visits  to  churches  dedicated  to  her,  little  sacrifices  in  her  honor,  periods  of  study  andwell‐finished work offered up to her, and a more attentive recitation of the rosary.

Editor’s Message / Parish Group Activities

This Easter, more than a hundred catechumens received baptism in our Parish. We wholeheartedly welcome them to join our large Catholic family.

Baptism marks  a  new beginning of  one's  journey of  faith. As Paul  says  in  his  letter  to  theGalatians: " All of you who were given to Christ through baptism, have put on Christ." (Ga3:27) Itmeans we have chosen to follow the way Jesus leads and abandon our human inclination. Thus,non‐believers can see the image of God through Christians.

The way to the cross  isn't easy. Thanks to Jesus, He knows our weakness and gives us thesacraments  to  strengthen our bodies  and  souls by  taking part  in  Sunday Masses,  receiving HisEucharist and making honest confessions. It is also good to know that we can have the support andencouragement from other faithful companions along our journey.

Our parish offers various groups and committees of different natures to help parishioners getinvolved with community lives and grow spiritually. There are also many activities and events foreveryone to join.

Let's offer our prayers and blessings to the new members of our parish. May the grace of ourLord help us see the risen Christ through one another.

A Spirit-filled Confirmation Retreat

Away from phones, laptops, tablets ‐ even clocks,the  students  of  Level  8  enjoyed  a  relaxing  yet  spirituallycleansing  Confirmation  Retreat  at  the Wellspring  RetreatCentre.

At first, many of the confirmandi were nervous and shyto be spending the weekend with the serving team, most ofwhich  belonged  to  STAY  (St  Teresa’s  Awesome  Youth).However,  as  time  passed,  so  the  bond  between  theconfirmandi  and  the  youth  group members  deepened.    Itseems  strange  how  a  one‐and‐a‐half‐day  retreat  couldchange a group of teenagers so significantly; watching theconfirmandi grow closer to God – and to each other – wastruly a magical experience.

The confirmandi explored a large number of different ways to have a closer relationship withGod, while simultaneously learning more about their faith.  STAY members gave talks about theirown retreats, songs were composed, poems were written, posters were produced… the list goeson.  These activities all took place to help the confirmandi fee  l ready to say ‘yes’ to God and hischurch.

It is often said that the confirmandi never forget their own Confirmation Retreat.  This year’sretreat  will  be  no  different  and  will  doubtless  be  remembered  in  fondness  by  everyone  whoparticipated.

God  is  still  alive!  After  the  death  of  Our  Lord  JesusChrist, he  is  still  alive. Every year’s Easter  is  the most  importantperiod  in  the  Holy  Catholic  Church,  since  it  commemorates  theresurrection of Jesus to remind the core message of our faith. Justas in words of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, “If there is no crucifix‐ion and resurrection, the Christian’s adoration is empty and mean‐ingless.”

God is still alive, since he is Emmanuel, meaning “God is withus”. Christ’s resurrection is our joy, because through the passionof Christ, sins are forgiven; and through the risen Christ, lives arerenewed. There are 127 brothers and sisters being baptised in ourparish this year,  they answered the call  from God to receive thebaptismal gift, to join  the Catholic Church; this family of our parish.

These brothers and sisters die to their own self, and gain anew life through water and the Holy Spirit. This new life is full ofblessings  and  graces,  making  us  feel  the  actual  joy  of  being  aChristian. However, this baptism is not an end, but a new begin‐ning of life; we have to strive, to keep this life anew.

Our faith should enable us to communicate and draw closerto God, so that we can apply it to our everyday life. We must letGod lead our life,  through prayers, His Word, as well as His Bodyand Blood;  this  is  the  true meaning of  a  Christian  life. May Godincrease our faith, so that we may pursue Divine things, but notearthly things, “If then you have been raised to life with Christ, soset your hearts on the things that are  in heaven, where Christ  isseated at the right hand of God.” (Col 3:1)

For those who have already been baptised for years, let usremember our baptismal graces, and never abandon this new lifethat God has given us. At the same time, the joy of Christ’s resur‐rection will fill every Christian’s heart. May we live Christ throughprayers, which  is  the  true  essence  of  evangelization.  Living  outfaith in our lives; we evangelize, and vice versa, in evangelizing, welive out our faith.

After ascension, Our Lord is still alive. He sent forth the HolySpirit, to guide us all the way.

After ascension, He allows Himself to remain in the form ofbread and wine.

May we fill our hearts with joy especially during this Easterseason, so as to prepare ourselves for Pentecost and Corpus Chris‐ti. May God bless every one of us!
