tandard Style brings you Issue #05. This issue emphasizes the trends for fall/winter 2011 for women. Straight from the runways, you will find the best options from top designers

and ideas on how to wear these trends.

Standard Style opened its first store in October 2003 at Town Center Plaza in Leawood, Kansas. The second location on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri opened in November 2006. With a variety of price points and product mix, the styling teams in both stores aspire to find each individual’s personal style regardless of size, age, or budget.

Standard Style is pleased to announce its relocation from Town Center Plaza to One Nineteen in Leawood, KS, behind Crate and Barrel and between North and Habitat Shoes. Standard Style is exclusively carrying women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, gifting, and kids. Standard Style will continue to carry classic designers and upcoming labels for women of all ages. Mens designer clothing as well as the Baldwin brand will be carried at the new mens shop, Baldwin, located next door to Standard Style-and at the Country Club Plaza location.

hange can be overwhelming and challenging, and yet it brings about a sense of newness, fresh beginnings, and a clean slate. This theme is very apparent in my life as we move our original Leawood store after

8 years to the shops at One Nineteen. This change brings up a flurry of old memories, familiarity, and rooted history. This change also brings the vision of a new concept, a polished look, creative expression, and a new identity. Change can be a process, a learning curve, a test of commitment. Enduring the process of change brings about new growth, freshness, and vitality.

Change happens twice a year in fashion as we wait in anticipation to see what designers will project as the latest trends. Couture designers present their interpretation of the season, and we then react and analyze the main themes. Change definitely happened in a great way for Fall 2011 through a maturing of fashion. The silhouettes, textures, and hemlines have a new elegance and sophistication. Changes also occurred in color stories with a return to rich hues in emeralds, reds, burgundy, and golds. An abundant theme on the fashion scene is the emphasis on fur. Whether faux or real fur it graced every designer’s collection. From vests, to coats, to accessories, fur is at the forefront of fashion trends for fall.

Another consistent theme is animal print, but it changes in that it is no longer just for coats and belts. This print is painted across every piece of clothing from shirts to sweaters, denim, dresses, and shoes. Everyone should put one piece with an animal print in their wardrobe.

Continuing to set the bar high for sophistication and on-trend looks are designers Diane Von Furstenberg, Haute Hippie, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Rebecca Taylor.

A change for us will be the introduction of new collections that are on the forefront of expressing these trends: L’Agence, Tucker, Notte by Marchesa, Karen Walker, and Rebecca Minkoff collection, to name a few. Another change will be the reintroduction of the kids department to our Leawood location, as well as an expansion of the gifting and lingerie collections.

As the season changes over to Fall/Holiday 2011, it will be time to return to elegance, to dress up, to wear a party dress, to include sequins, to say yes to skirts, and to adding layers. Change your wardrobe. Change your mindset. Change something in your own personal life to move into a better arena. Although change is difficult, there is a reward.

Style come to you. Whether at work or at home, our

stylists provide the same great shopping experience in

the setting that is convenient for you. Add this to a closet

consultation for a season refresher without the hassle of

shopping all over town.

Fee: $75/ hour

CLOSET CONSULTATIONS

This service is provided by one of our seasoned stylists

and is done at the client’s home. The stylist will go through

your closet to remove any outdated or ill -fitting pieces and

organize your items in a way to optimize your wardrobe.

They will then make a personalized shopping list of what

you need to buy to complete your wardrobe needs. The

stylist will put outfits together using your own clothes, then

photograph them for a quick reference guide.

Fee: $75/ hour

PERSONAL STYLING

Home Service-This is a personalized service that will assist

you with any fashion need that you may have. If you have

an event or need help getting a look together, one of

our stylists is able to come to you with the appropriate

options and assemble the look for your big event. An

upcoming trip you need help packing for? We can

help with that too. We will work with your clothes and

put together a wardrobe itinerary that is perfect your

upcoming get away.
