蘭加拉學院的英語作為第二語言(簡稱

ESL)課程採用綜合式語言學習方法。我們

採用全方位的教學模式，而非單純的傳授

技能。我們結合語言的聽、說、讀、寫的技

巧，並著重教授各種與實際生活相關的有

趣主題。我們設計的課程以內容為主，引導

學生參與多項活動，讓他們應用各種能增

進實際溝通的技巧和策略。

我們以此創造了一個充滿活力、以學生為

中心的學習環境，讓學生以自然而有意義

的方式獲得語言能力。循序漸進地，學生

便能使用和加拿大以英語為母語的學生相

同的方式來學習課堂內容。

蘭加拉學院學術英語課程（簡稱LEAP）英語技巧能力提升課程 (簡稱STEP)

蘭加拉學院學術英語課程（LEAP）是蘭加拉學院密集式進階的英

語語言課程，其設計旨在幫助母語非英語的國際學生或加拿大學

生，為就讀英語授課的全日制大專院校作好準備。LEAP課程內

容取材自許多不同學科。在本課程任何一級別的教學之中，都重

點培訓學術技能。學生的批判性思考能力及學術策略運用會透過

就讀這課程而進步。每期課程為期7週，每年有6期課程。學生們

每週在教室學習20小時，並需要完成每週約20個小時的家庭作

業。LEAP課程提供從中級班到高級共6個等級。平均每班16個

學生。若要進入LEAP課程學習，學生必須達到最低的英語語言要

求。

LEAP課程通過以下方式鼓勵學生融入蘭加拉學院的學術及社交

團體：

· 增進語言能力

· 提高學習表現

· 鼓勵學生成為優秀的獨立學習者

· 提供能讓學生在發揮全部潛能的同時感覺到自己是學院的一

份子並為學院做出貢獻的環境。

從LEAP課程成功結業的學生可直接入讀大學轉學課程。

LEAP的教師們均持有ESL教育(TESL)的高等學位。所有教師都經

過嚴格篩選。篩選的標準包括教師在教授學術英語方面的經驗、跨

文化意識、以及對幫助年輕學生獲得學術成功的承諾。大部分教師

均有在加拿大以外地區教授ESL課程的經驗。

英語技巧能力提升課程(簡稱STEP)歡迎母語非英語的國際學

生以及加拿大學生就讀。STEP是一個内容精彩的全日制密集式

初級英語語言課程，側重溫哥華和加拿大的環境與文化。

STEP課程是專為提高學生口語、聽力、閱讀、和寫作技能而設置

的。豐富多元的課題、教材和活動，創造學生實用的語言環境。在

練習英語能力的同時，學生們也增進了對溫哥華、加拿大以及世

界各國的了解。每期課程為期7週，每年有6期課程。學生們每

週在教室學習20小時，並需要完成每週約10個小時的家庭作

業。STEP課程分為三個等級。每班平均14個學生。

STEP幫助學生：

· 提高英語水平

· 在課內課外的互動活動中，能夠自然使用英語進行交流

· 透過學習與加拿大社會相關課題來進一步瞭解加拿大的文

化

· 進階到蘭加拉學院的LEAP與其他學術課程

STEP課程的教師均持有ESL教育(TESL）的高級學位，並有多年

ESL的教學經驗。大部分教師均有在加拿大以外地區教授ESL

課程的經驗。所有教師都經過嚴格篩選，篩選的標準包括教師在

教授學術英語方面的經驗、跨文化意識以及對幫助年輕學生獲
