SCHOOL PRAYER SONG

The Namokara Mantra (Namaskar Mantra)

In this Prayer there is no mention of any names, nor does this prayer is to seek any favours or material

benefits from anyone. This mantra simply serves as a gesture of deep respect towards being; we believe ,

are more spiritually advanced and hence worthy of worship.

The Namokara Mantra

Namo arihantaGaA I bow to the Arihants (One who has defeated anger, ego deception and greed)

Namo siddhaGaA I bow to the Siddhas (one who are

liberated souls, who have destroyed all

universal boundings, whose soul is at its purest from.)

Namo ayariyaGaA I bow to the Acharyas (any monk who

is the highest leader of his order, who

is worthy of worship)

Namo uvajjhayaGaA I bow to the Teachers.

Namo loe savva SahuGaA I bow to all the Saddhus.

EsopancaGamokkaro This five-fold bow (mantra)

SavvapavappaGasaGo Destroys all sins and obstacles,

MaEgala GaA ca SavvesiA, and of all auspicious mantras,

Padamama havai maEgalaA is the first and foremost one.

School Houses

Ahimsa House

(Meaning – Non Violence)

To cause “no harm” to living beings (on the lines of “live” and “let live”). The vow involves “Minimizing”

intentional as well as unintentional harm to another living creature. There should even be no room for any

thought of conjuring injury to others, let alone talking about it or performing such an act.

Asteya House

(Meaning – Non Stealing)

Not to take into possession, anything that is not willingly offered. It is the strict adherence to one’s own

possessions without desiring for the one that belong to others. One should remain satisfied by whatever is

earned through honest labour. Any attempt to squeeze material wealth from other and/or exploit the week is

considered as theft.

Anekantavad House

(Meaning – Pluralism)

It is one of the most important and fundamental doctrines of life. It refers to the principles’ of pluralism and

multiplicity of viewpoints, the notion that truth and reality are perceived differently from diverse points of

view, and that no single point of view is the complete truth. Any man is capable of partial knowledge

consequently, no single, specific, human view can claim to represent absolute truth, hence it encourage its

adherents to consider the views and beliefs of their rivals and opposing parties.

Page 9: Student Calendar 2016-17

Aparigraha House

(Meaning – Non –Possession / Non- materialism)

To observe detachment from material things. Ownership of an object itself is not possessiveness; however,

attachment to the owned object is possessiveness. For householders, non-possession is owning basic principle

behind observance of this vow lies in the fact that life change. What you own today may not be rightfully yours

tomorrow. Hence the householder is encouraged to discharge his or her duties to related people and object as a
