I was inspired by my father, who volunteered and within a year he became a Scout Master for Troop 512. He served in the same position for 30 years. Scouting boosted my esteem and confidence in the ability to handle any problem. Before my father passed away, we had a chance to recognise his contribution to Scouting. He served in many posts of leadership and development, including the Wood badge. He was also a Jamboree Program Director thrice. As I grew older, I realised that each person can make a difference. Having worked in Kibera the past six summers, I have seen all things I learnt in Scouting bearing fruit. It brings me great joy to be a small part of the Jamboree witnessing troops camped at Rowallan. This is a site I will not forget it soon. Swimming, hiking, chess, ludo, scrabble, touring and much more is happening. Music is playing loud and Scouts are dancing ‘  paka chini’. The question is, are you involved? Do not be left out. Find some activity, mingle and have fun as you celebrate a Century of Scouting. 1 Scouting for leadership Scouting is talent and action SURE SECURITY: Kenya Army is providing transport, water and above all security at the Jamboree. Diplomats:  Polish Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Wojciech Jasinski and his wife at the Nairobi Centenary Jamboree. Mr. J asinski said he has been a Scout since childhood. “Scouting can shape lives of young people. Young people if given the right training in Scouting can become whatever they want to be in life.” So Scouts, reflect on what you want to become and use the your Scouting experience and values to be what you want to be.
