Day 1

Activity/Craft: Name tags ** example- Pass out A4 paper is either white or light colors (easily readable)- demonstrate while saying instructions

Instructions:- Fold paper in half like a hamburger- Write English name on one side

Part II: Color GameTime: ~ 15 minutes

Vocabulary (for the game):Go- 走Stop- 停Slow- 慢Light- 登Traffic Lights- Red Light, Green LightHold a picture of the traffic light as an example.**

What do you do when you see a green light?如果你看到綠登你會怎麼做?Go! 走。What do you do when you see a red light?如果你看到紅登你會怎麼做?Stop!停。What do you do when you see a yellow light? 如果你看到黃登你會怎麼做?Slow Down慢下來。Instructions:The students line up on one side of the classroom. The goal is to be the first one to touch the wall on the other side of the classroom. When I say green, you run.如果我說綠,你要跑。When I say red, you stop.如果我說綠,你要停。When I say yellow, you slow down. 如果我說綠,你要慢下來。If students do it wrong, they start from the beginning.

The teacher puts up colored paper around the classroom. When the teacher says a color, the students have to run up to the right color and touch the paper. The last person who touches it loses. If a student loses 3 times, there is a “punishment” (sizzling bacon, needs to say the names of all the other students, etc.)

III. Review: Colors & ABC’sTotal Time: ~20 minutes

Lesson: Review colors (and grammar) from the day before. Emphasize:Blue- 藍色Green- 綠色Red- 紅色White- 白色Black- 黑色Vocabulary:Fish- 漁for your knowledge: Magnet- 磁铁Fishing rod- 魚竿Fishing- 釣魚

There are different colored fish with the different letters and a magnet on each one. The fishing rod is a chopstick with a magnet. To go “fishing”, place the magnet from the rod on the magnet from the fish.

Activities:1. Tell the students to race to pick up a certain letter. Once the person picks it up, have them tell you the color of the fish.

2. Write a word on the board (a vocab word they have learned) and have the class spell out the word by fishing for the correct letters. Have them sound out the word, tell you what it means, and list out the colors of each fish in the word.

The class is divided into two teams. There will be a pile of animal names in a hat/jar. One student from each team has to act out the animal (with sounds). The first team that guesses the correct animal in English wins.

The Heart and Emotions Lesson of the Day:David’s story, God looks not at our physical/outward appearance but what is on the inside. God chose David because of his big heart, even though he was the youngest son in his family . 上帝不是看我們的外表, 而是看我們的心. 上帝選了 David 是因為他的好心, 雖然他是他家最小的兒子. God Chooses DavidGod said, “The Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

God wanted to choose a new king.God would choose a king who loved him.

And God would choose a king who was strong and wise –no matter his size!

So God sent Samuel to Jesse’s family to choose the king.There were eight brothers that God could use.

Only one would be king –who would God choose?

The tall one with the wavy red hair?

Or the big, BIG brother who was standing there?Would God choose the brother who was the oldest?Or would he pick the thinnest or bravest or boldest?

Maybe the brother with new leather shoes?Only one would be king –who would God choose?

God chose David, the littlest brother!

God picked David becauseDavid was wise and strong, and he loved God.

God didn’t look at how small David was.God looked at David’s heart.And David’s heart was BIG!
