Sep. – Dec. 2011 CLC Newsletter 2011-2012 Term1 Dear parents, During the last two months, we are pleasant to see our students proceeding further in learning Mandarin. Thank you for your ongoing support and trust to us! Your follow-up study after class and active support to our activities really do us a great favor! In this term, we held teachers’ meetings regularly to discuss how to enhance the students’ learning interests. We made our teaching plans for every class and arranged our teaching activity according to that. Thanks to our teachers’ hard work and commitment, our students have learned more Chinese in an easy and fun way. January 22th is Chinese New Year — the Spring Festival -- the biggest festival for Chinese. Thus, in recent classes, our teachers will teach some Chinese culture and also will have some activities such as art handwork. We are going to hold a student show around New Year time to show what we have learnt. We are also pleased to be interviewed by Xpress in November. There are a few things that should be noted by the end of this term: 1. This term ends: Monday class: Dec. 12th; Saturday class: Dec. 10th. 2. CLC Newsletter 2011-2012 Term1Dear parents,

During the last two months, we are pleasant to see our students proceeding further in learning Mandarin. Thank you for your ongoing support and trust to us! Your follow-up study after class and active support to our activities really do us a great favor!

In this term, we held teachers’ meetings regularly to discuss how to enhance the students’ learning interests. We made our teaching plans for every class and arranged our teaching activity according to that. Thanks to our teachers’ hard work and commitment, our students have learned more Chinese in an easy and fun way.

January 22th is Chinese New Year — the Spring Festival -- the biggest festival for Chinese. Thus, in recent classes, our teachers will teach some Chinese culture and also will have some activities such as art handwork. We are going to hold a student show around New Year time to show what we have learnt.

We are also pleased to be interviewed by Xpress in November.

There are a few things that should be noted by the end of this term:1. This term ends:    Monday class: Dec. 12th;    Saturday class: Dec. 10th.2. 尊敬的家长,

您好!

在过去的两个月里,我们很高兴看到我们的学生在汉语学习方面又有了新的进步。感谢您一直一来对我们中心的支持与信任。无论是您的课后辅导还是对活动的积极支持都给我们莫大的助益。

在本学期里,我们照常举行了教室会议,着重讨论了如何提高学生的学习兴趣。我们为每个班制定了教学计划并根据计划开展了教学活动。通过老师们的不懈努力,学生们在轻松、有趣的氛围下掌握了更多的汉语知识。

明年 1 月 22 日是农历新年,春节是中国人最大的节日,所以,在最近的几节课中,老师们会陆续教孩子们一些中国传统文化知识并组织了一些课堂活动。明年新年的时候各个班会举行学生表演的活动,展示一下学习成果。

在 11 月,我们也非常荣幸能得到 Xpress 报纸的采访。

一些重要日期及信息在本学期即将结束之际,有几点需要提醒大家注意:1. 本学期结束时间:周一班是 12月 12日,周六班是 12月 10日。2. 下学期开始时间:周一班是 1月 9日,周六班是 1月 14日。

3. 下学期的学费是 AED1000。4. 下学期的报名截止日期是周一班的最后一节课,即 12月 12日。每一位想要在下学期

继续学习的学生需要提前缴纳押金 AED100。未按期缴纳押金的学生会被放入排队名单并不能确保下学期有位置,因为各班的学生人数不能超过 12 人。新学生需要交AED150 的报名费

Saturday Beginning class&Monday Beginning A class

Dear parents;I am very happy that I have been teaching the cute children for nearly one term. In this

term I taught them the single vowel and the pronunciation of its four accents. How to read the initialswith the single vowel and to knowits meaning with colorful pictures. I taught them 24 simple Chinese characters and four songs. For them to understand and sing it properly, each song I spent three weeks to teach and practice the key words many times. Because I know if the

children once really know a song,they will sing it everywhere and will never forget it.

Beginning class children ages are between 3 – 6. Their attention is very easy to be disturbed. It is very difficult to let themsit for two 40 minutes with full attention. So I practice their class language. These languages are used and understand in the real environment. Most of them already know how to say: “how are you teacher?”,“I want to go out to play”,“I want to play game”, “I want to go to the toilet”,“stand up”, “sit down”, “I want a balloon”, “I want pencil”, I drink water, juice, milk”, I eat biscuit, grapes, watermelon.” When I see them using all these in the class I am so happy from deep of my heart.

When I prepare for every lesson and homework ,70 % are new knowledge ,30 % are

revision, because they are too youngand couldn’t remember the new knowledge very well. Most of the parents do not know Chinese, so they cannot help them at home. The lesson is only once a week. Soaccept every time’s revision. I do a complete revision once in three weeks. By this way,they can fully absorb the basic Chinese language.

To let the children study in my class happily and comfortably,I design different games. During the game,they also can practice the useful sentences. For example:“Are you ready? “, “I am ready”, “boy group”, and “girl group”. The children had too much fun from the games.

Through the comments of children’s behavior, I am able to control their attention. Under happy face and sad face, everyone’s marks are clear. At the end of the lesson,according to everyone’s marks,I give them gifts. This way it helps me to control the children very well and also attract their interest.

亲爱的家长朋友们;

你们好,我非常高兴的已和可爱的孩子们相处了近一个学期。这学期我主要给他们教了单韵母及其四声读法和部分声母。教过了的声母和单韵母相拼读,掌握拼读出来的事物并配以图片帮助孩子们记忆。在汉字方面我总共教了 24个常用的笔画简单的独体字。我还教了四首儿歌,为了让孩子们完全会唱,会理解儿歌的具体内容,我每首儿歌花三周的时间来教,并反复练习理解儿歌中一些关键词的意思。因为孩子们一旦真正学会一首儿歌,就会随意去唱,永远不会忘了它。

针对 level one 的孩子年龄在 3到 6岁之间。他们注意力容易分散,学习随意性强的特点,我也加强他们的课堂用语的练习,这些语言是在班里特定的环境里最能理解和运用的,而且每个学生都会用到的。他们都已经会说;”老师好。我想玩游戏。我想出去玩。我想去厕所。起来。坐下。我要气球。我要笔。我喝水。我喝果汁。我喝牛奶。我吃饼干。我吃葡萄。我吃西瓜”等。看到孩子们在我的精心引导下把学过的词汇用在课堂中,我由衷的感到欣慰。

为了让孩子们在我的课堂上感受到轻松和愉快,我每次都设计了不同的游戏,游戏中也有一些课堂语的渗透,比如;”准备好了吗?谁赢了?男孩组,女孩组”.等。孩子们确实参与和享受了游戏的快乐,练习了情景对话。

我在每次的课堂讲解和作业设计中,70%是新知识,30%是对旧知识的复习,因为孩子们

太小学习主动性差,学过的知识容易忘了。家里大部分父母都不懂汉语无法帮助他们,而且又是一周只有一次汉语课,所以每次课堂有旧知识的复习环节外,我还每三周做一次总复习,这样让他们及时温习学过的知识,以便更扎实牢固的掌握汉语基础知识。

我通过及时点评每个孩子的学习态度和状况,吸引孩子们的注意力,给与他们明显的赏罚并及时记录在板上的笑脸和悲伤脸下面。每次课后根据点评记录结果,发小奖品。确实非常有效的掌控了课堂记律,激发了孩子们的学习积极性。

非常感谢家长们的支持,我会继续努力用我所有的爱心和耐心让可爱的孩子们爱上汉语课堂,学好汉语。谢谢。

Because the children in Level 1 are too young to absorb everything they have been

taught before, so I did some revise and practices. In order to maintain their passion,

I designed some games to encourage them to learn Chinese in every class. And ask

them to repeat the words or sentences appeared during the games.

After practice, I am glad that most of children can handle the reading between

similar words.

Before every class, I will let them to play games first in order to review the last

class and smoothly concentrate on new content. During the 30 minutes study, the

children who do well will play games again.

各位家长好,

转眼 2011年第一学期即将结束,基于均为初学者的实际情况,我调整了教学内容以及方式。 由于初级班的小孩年纪较小,不易吸收已经学过的内容,因此做了教学方法和内容的调整并实施新的方法。为了保持他们的学习热情,在课堂上设计了一些游戏,通过游戏学习和练习语言。 课堂上,首先安排大家做一个游戏,以此来复习已经学过的内容,并逐步引导到新的内容上。半小时的学习后,再通过游戏来练习。 令人欣慰的时,通过新的方式,大多数小孩可以较好的掌握已经学到的内容,取得了进步。

CLC Newsletter (Monday Elementary)

Dear parents,

How time flies! This term is about to come to an end. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you for your cooperation and support.

During this term we have learned five topics (city, weather, place, shopping, how much is…). We are going to learn the topic of date in the following week. For the last lesson we are going to do review and revision followed by an end of term assessment.

In this term, we not only learned new knowledge but also consolidated the knowledge we learned before. For example: when learning the topic of “buying fruits”, we at the same time reviewed the topic of "What is your favorite fruit?” Moreover, when learning the topic of “what is the date today?” we also reviewed the topic of “what day is today?” and so on. By answering these questions, students can enlarge their vocabulary and recall the sentences they have studied.

In this term, besides the continuous study of new words, new sentences, speaking and listening practice and Chinese songs singing, we also reached a higher stage of our Chinese learning, because we started to learn how to write Chinese sentences.

I added two new parts in the class to help students to remember the new words and sentences. First, every time when we learned new words and sentences, I gave students more chance to practice and encourage them to practice. Every student had the chance to write on the whiteboard and they always in high spirits and racing to show themselves. Second, I added a writing test in every class to review the learned knowledge and the students who write well can win a prize. Now all students do very well in the writing test. Some students make progress every time and some of them can always get full marks. Writing sentences can help us to remember well the words and sentences we have learned.

Our homework includes reading learned words and sentences, singing Chinese songs, writing learned words and sentences. I’m happy to find that the children finish their homework better and better. They did even better in reading and singing and made great progress in writing too. I hereby thank you very much for your support and cooperation. I sincerely hope you can give me more advice and suggestions so that we can improve our teaching program to make students learn more knowledge with fun.

致家长的一封信(周一二班)亲爱的家长:

时间过得真快,一转眼,第一学期的学习快要结束了。我衷心地感谢你们的配合和支持。

在这段时间里,我们主要学习了五个主题(城市/天气/地方/购物/多少钱),接下来的这个星期我们会学习日期,最后还会进行复习和学期考试。

在这个学期,我们不仅学习了新的知识还加强和巩固曾经学过的内容。例如:在通过学习买水果的内容时我们复习了曾经学过的“你最喜欢什么水果?”;还有在学习“今天几月几号?”时,我们又复习了“今天星期几?”等等。学生在回答这些问题时就会扩展他们的词汇量和记起曾经学过的句子。

在这个学期,我们除了继续学习新词汇,新句型,进行听说练习和学唱中文儿歌,我们的汉语学习还上了一个新台阶,因为我们开始学习写句子了。

为了能让孩子们更好地记住学过的词语和句子,我在课堂上增加了两个新的环节。一是,课堂上每次学习完新的词汇和句子时,我都给孩子们更多的练习机会,让他们每个人都有机会在白板上练习写,并给予鼓励。孩子们兴致很高,每次都争先恐后地要出来写,抢着表现。二是,在每次课,我们都增加了一个小小的拼写测试,把上一次课学写过的词语和句子进行听写重温,并奖励写得好的孩子。现在每次的拼写测试,孩子们都取得了不

于 2011年 11月AssessmentStudents are regularly observed on their oral abilities (Listening and Speaking) during classroom interactions and written abilities (Reading and Writing) through their reading aloud, role play, spelling test, guided writing and their weekly homework. spoken level. We require student to review daily what we have learnt in the class, so please

assist and supervise your child to complete the homework because parents play a very

important part in ensuring that homework is a valuable, purposeful and worthwhile activity. By

the way, we have provided reading books for after class activity, please return the books once

you finished it. As parents you are your child most influential teacher with an important part to

lay in helping your child to love to read. Little and often is always the best.

的知识,每月不忘自己已掌握的知识,这样就可以说是好学的了。” 在这个学期里,同学们通过

不断的努力学习,中文水平有了很大的进步!尤其是大多数同学已经能够游刃有余的用汉语进行

会话了,其中信嘉、信恩、信希三姐妹的中文水平尤为突出,而 Luis、Divya、Natalia还有瑞琪是

班里进步最快的!

我们每堂课不仅学习新的词汇和句子,我们还用所学习过的词汇造句和会话,从而更加巩固同学

们的词汇量和提高口语水平。课堂上所学到的知识需要同学们每天复习,因此请家长们督促孩子

完成家庭作业。我们还增加了课外小读物,如果已经读完请返还给我们。父母是孩子最有影响力

的老师,父母在培养孩子爱读书的好习惯中起到绝对的作用。滴水成河、铁杵成针,家长的点滴

付出会成就孩子的一生!

一、实际情况因材施教是汉语教育的基本思路之一。本班学生水平较高,听、说、读、写均相对高于没有汉语语言环境的学生,同时基本功相对不足,即头脑中有一些静态的知识资料,但无法较好地运用。因此,特提出以下教学思路。

二、教学思路本班学生年龄在八到十三岁之间,他们与成年人学习汉语的不同之处在于内部的学习目的,思考方式,注意力集中时长,等等;而外部的环境则相对轻松。因此,如何让他们较好地在实际学习中运用已经学到的知识,把过去所学巩固,在学会对语言的同时,浅层次地涉及到用汉语发现、分析和解决问题,就成为教学过程中的主要目的之一。因此,对本班的教学中,有以下具体实施步骤。首先,听和说为先,汉字教学成为教学内容的“兴奋剂”。其次,动静结合,充分关注“情景”教学。第三,时刻注意淡化语法知识,而是通过反复练习让学生了解语法知识并进行交际

三、教学实施首先,充分注意课堂上的习惯用语。其次,尽量用汉语解释汉语,但同时对于关键部分予以英文解释,以避免学生出现烦躁心理。第三,多多使用体态语言。正因为本班学生基础较好,所以在用肢体语言进行一些关键词的解释时,其领悟能力会超乎想象,甚至比言语解释达到的效果更理想。例如,一些动词如“推”等。第四,鼓励学生用汉语交流。第五,鼓励学生在课后拓展汉语学习如上网查中国传统文化艺术等。

四、教学内容本班本期内容以《轻松学中文》第五册及其练习册、三项基本功(读音、汉字及基本句子基本结构)为主,在时间安排上并未遵循原有课程设置,而是把不同内容穿插进行,如在

They all have very strong desire to learn, but all freshmen for Chinese, and learning objectives and focus are different. In view of this situation, the following teaching ideas offered.2. Teaching ideasFirst, breaking the normal curricula sequenceIn order to encourage them, I broke the routine of teaching content.I didn't begin our course from the alphabet, but the characters first. By the special structure of Chinese characters and the evolution of the shallow culture of materials, I want to stimulate their enthusiasm and confidence.Second, breaking the logical order of difficulty, in another words, difficult and easy content are interval.Based on the first step, more difficult sentence structure and grammars are guided by simple ones, so that they can grasp more. As many people know of the "Hello", very good and easy greeting words, I expanded it for third tone and more complex sentence structure.3. Teaching content and its implementation First, the main contents includes first volume “Conversational Chinese 301" (basic words and sentence structure), pinyin, basic words (fifty or so), the most commonly used strokes and radicals, Chinese partials, and so on... Second, pay more attention to master numbers, location (direction), time and color (until third, December, 2011, the basic content is not finished yet).The purpose is to make students master "survival Chinese” based on the formal curricula. Third, in the late course, students will perform more practice on the real situation. It is urgent as to twelve classes of twenty four hours to give the freshman a whole basic course. But more practices will make learners get more in late course. Because they will become the main actors in learning Chinese stage. And I will become a coach who is not focus in activities.

Saturday Adult class

一、实际情况本班共有五名学生,年龄均较轻,学习欲望非常强烈,但都没有中文基础,且学习目的侧重点有所不同。针对这种情况,有以下教学思路。

二、教学思路第一,打破常规教学内容顺序。针对学生无基础的实际情况,为了克服他们的畏难心理,打破一般教学顺序,即不从拼音学起,而是以汉字为先,通过汉字的特殊结构与演变过程,把浅层次的文化性的材料,贯穿于文字教学中。以此激发他们学习汉语的热情与信心。第二,打破常规教学难易逻辑顺序,将难易内容相间。在第一项的基础上,把较难掌握的句子结构和语法等,以非常简单的句子结构引入,由此拓展,使其掌握更多、更难内容。如很多人都知道的“你好”,非常好记,而其背后所蕴含的发音和句子结构,则更易使人掌握更多的汉语知识。

三、教学内容及其实施第一,以《汉语会话 301》上册(基本字词及句子结构)、汉语拼音、基本字(五十个左右)、笔画笔顺以及最常用的偏旁部首,等等为主。第二,强调学生掌握数字、位置(方向)、时间及色彩(“色彩”部分内容至 2011年 12

月 3 日止,其基本内容没有讲完)这四个主要部分,重点放在“生存汉语”的掌握上。第三,课程中后期,将以学生练习为主。由于本期课程共有十二课(二十四个小时),时间上比较紧促,对于内容的实施并不有利,为了让学生学有所得,前五到六课左右,以老师讲解为主、学生练习为辅,将逐步改变为以学生练习为主、老师讲解为辅。
