Abstract

he subject of this paper is resource capacity bottlenecks involved in a business process (and chain of value), way(s) of their removal and managing the process of this removal of bottlenecks. The idea is to point towards the possibility of bottlenecks within different resources of one operation of a certain business process as well as in different operations (phases) of a business process, as well as towards the possibility and the means to manage those types of bottlenecks in cases of maintenance and growth of the capacity of (business) processes as well as within the value chain. It is the intention to show different models of bottlenecks (of one operation as well as the whole business process), by looking at the business process of an organizational system (an enterprise) and the remaining (adjacent to it) participants links in the value chain (its procurers and buyers), as well as to point to the specific types of managing different types of bottlenecks. This paper is intended for those who are making the projects and managing the process so that they can, in balancing the flow of the work at hand, have insight into all the relevant resources, in all operations of the business process, as well as in interacting with procurers and buyers. Verbal, graphical and mathematical models are shown, and certain bottleneck removal management methods are pointed out.

Keywords: processes management, resources/operations/processes cappacities, bottlenecks, bottlenecks removal.
