Menentukan potensi tumbuh maksimum dari suatu lot benih dalam kondisi optimal untuk menduga mutu benih sebagai bahan tanam.

Prinsip

Dilakukan terhadap benih murni

Persyaratan, lihat tabel 5 A

Substrat :

•Kertas filter, blotter atau towel

•Pasir, 90% lolos saringan 0,8 mm dan tertahan saringan 0,05 mm.

•Tanah, kualitas baik, bukan tanah liat dan bebas partikel besar

Metoda:

• Top of Paper (TP) / pada kertas

• Between Paper (BP) / antar kertas

• Sand (S) / pada pasir

Merangsang perkecambahan

Biasanya untuk benih jika sampai akhir pengujian terdapat benih keras atau segar
