The local topography allows a visitor to par-
ticipate in an adventure of discovery of the variety
of beaches and bays that lie within our munici-
pality. with its 8 kms of coastline, decorated with
the blue flag of the european community, and
with the many services of life guards and first
aid, attention to the environment, showers, safe
storage for personal items, games for children,
maintenance of the beach… Teulada-Moraira has
deserved its achievement of the certificate for
the systems of quality iso 9001 and environment
management iso 14001.
A good route could be to start from a small
hidden and clean rocky beach known as La Cala.
skirting the spectacular Cap D’Or we come to a
shell-shaped bay , the beach of El Portet. From
here we could explore the watchtower of Cap
D’Or on the clifftop.

At the foot of the castle we come
across L’Ampolla, the most popular, cos-
mopolitan and extensive of the sandy
beaches of the area.
Platgetes, Cala L’Andrago and Cala Cap

tacular cliffs and magnificent views of the
mediterranean countryside.

ment caring for the coastline of this mu-
nicipality of the Costa Blanca invites a

Teulada-Moraira has the good fortune of the
distinctive feature of two separate town centres
with their own histories, traditions and customs.
The conqueror Jaime First came to Teulada
in 1244 and in 1386 the municipality was legally
created.
Very well known are the wines and mistelas
of Teulada as well as the village of Moraira with
its background of fishing. The mediterranean tra-
ditions and regional customs have moulded the
appearance of the municipality over the centu-
ries. Some of these have stood the test of time
while others remain merely as a distant memory.
One gets to know Teulada-Moraira by visiting its
monuments and streets, but also by taking note
of the tales that can be found in books or stories
passed on by word of mouth from those who re-
call past times….

Know MorairaAyuntamiento, the modern Townhall
inaugurated in 1991. From here to Plaza de
la Creu, and then to the Iglesia de Santa
Catalina, adjoining the hermitage of the
Divina Pastora and the Casa Abadia, re-
stored in 1986.
The Iglesia de Santa Catalina was
built at the end of the XVI century. The
fortress-church of renaissance style with
gothic touches has an abse decorated with
Byzantine painting. Note too that one of the
organs is of the romantic style and is one of
the oldest in the province.
Torre- Campanario. The belltower is
hexagonal, 30 metres in height, from the
XIX century.
The Chapel of Divina Pastora along-
side the church is a quaint building with the
main doorway in renaissance style while
the rest is in baroque style.
Along the route we will come across the
Sala de Jurats I Justicies, the court room,
an antique civil building constructed in 1620
from tosca stone, containing a sundial from
1639. It is attached to the old dwelling of
Constanza, sister of San Vicente Ferrer.
Via calle Colón, we come to San Vice-
nte Ferrer´s hermitage of neoclassic-bar-
roque style from the end of the XVIII century.
The construction of tosca stone and the cu-
pula of blue roof tiles stand out. Preserved is
an XVI century image of the saint.
Know TeuladaIn the main street known as Dr.
Calatayud, we come to the Parish
Church of Virgen de los Desa-
mparados. Originally constructed
between 1875 and 1878 with the
most recent restoration in1989. Its
gateway evokes the style of rius-raus
(typical architecture of the region).
On the façade is an image of the
patron saint of fishermen, the only
example in the area of a chapel with
such a sculpture.
From here to Calle Almacenes,
Calle Playas y Calle Mar the old-
est and most picturesque part and
the Margenot, the ancient retain-
ing wall, being protection from the
open sea.
We head via the Placeta de la
Sort towards the hermitage of
the Virgen del Carmen, opposite
the castle.

On the South-East slope of the Cap
d’Or is the Cova de les Cendres, an
archaeological discovery of the
Higher Paleolithic period.

Walks Teulada-Moraira offers the possibility to wander the sign-
posted walks that permit nature lovers to get to know the beau-ties of the area from a different perspective.
With benign temperatures through most of the year one can really enjoy this alternative activity.
Starting from Avenida de Mediterráneo, via the camino de San Miguel, we will pass the Creueta del Ave Maria ( a cast iron cross with an inscription in ceramic). The cross indicates the spot where , ac-cording to tradition, St Vicente Ferrer halted and blessed the area to prevent the plague from over-coming the population.
Taking the lane to the right, we will come to the Font de L’Horta with its two water outlets. Closeby we can join the road to Benimarco which is a typical rural hamlet shared by both Teulada and Benisa. Along this walk we will see many old fam-ily houses and stores, typical of this region.
02 La Font de l ‘Hortai Benimarco
Calle Calvo Sotelo will take us to the cami-no dels Castellons. We pass the Moli del Castel-lons, one of the five remaining windmills in this area. We head to the urbanisation Castellons Vida, the highest point of our walk, offering spectacular views.
01 Castellons
This route runs through one of the most beautiful and striking areas of the municipality ending at the beach of La Cala. We have to start this walk from Cami de la Viuda towards Calle Canario, the path then being signposted. Half way we must take the right fork, the path becoming more difficult and care should be taken. A recommended alternative is to the left just before the beach, a steep climb to the flat plateau from which we can reach the beach of Moraig of Benitachell.

of El Portet from the Hermitage San Juan Bautis-ta probably built at the middle of the nineteenth century.
From the avenida del Portet on our left we will take the calle Puerto Lápice to calle Puerto de Alcudia, at the end of which we start on foot. Signs will mark the path to the watch tower. On clear days it is possible to see Moraira bay and as far as the Peñon Ifach, Albir, Sierra Aitana and Ibiza to make the walk well worthwhile.

From Teulada, along the Camino del Pas, we can enjoy a pleasant drive or stroll on foot discovering the architectural characteristics of this region, the Marina Alta, the riuraus as well as the perfectly constructed bancales or terraces that used to be cultivated to produce the main wealth of the area, wine and almonds.
On arriving at calle Benimarfull, we are amazed to dis-cover a plateau that opens up some of the best views of the area. To the right along calle Benigànim, also offers us great views. Via camino Fanadix towards the sea we arrive at Cala Andrago.
04 Benimeit
From Teulada, on the main road to Moraira, after only a few metres we can turn to the right to the Cami de les Rotgetes. This peaceful route will take us eventually back to the main road, which we will have to cross to reach La Font Santa. This font owes its miraculous origin to the hand of Vicente Ferrer, who brought forth drinking water for the first time to relieve the thirst of his sister Constanza. Be there drought or heavy rain, water always flows. This pecularity has made it a point of pilgrimage.
