ot Isostatic Pressingot Isostatic PressingHHot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), able to apply pressure and temperature simultaneously under gas, is an extremely useful technology for performing diffusion bonding for different materials.

We continued to provide total service with HIP equipment since 1984 introducing our first HIP equipment, and now having total 16 HIP equipment challenging for sophisticated technical innovation.

The process of HIP diffusion bonding

The joint surfaces of the completed shape of the part and the work method for the capsule assembly are examined, and part manufacture is executed under consideration of the shape of each part and the finishing allowance.

Part ManufactureDirt, oxide layers, etc., are removed completely from all parts, and then all the connection parts are sealed by welding with capsule material with good weldability to prevent oxidation.

Capsule AssemblyThe capsule is checked for leakage, and then the inside is evacuated for vacuum sealing. At this time, heating is done during the evacuation in order to obtain a higher vacuum. This step is not required when capsule assembly is done by EB welding.

Finishing machining to the final shape is performed.

FinishingThe capsule is removed by machining and the joint is examined for soundness (UT, PT, etc.).

Bonding can be done by brazing; diffusion bonding, friction pressure welding, etc., and each method can be used to produce products making good use of the respective features of these different types of bonding.

●Diffusion bondingDiffusion bonding uses the bonding forces operating between the atoms at the metal surface to effect metal bonding. This also can be used to bond different materials, and it is a useful method to transform new materials into products.

High-quality low-cost products can be produced with a high-vacuum hot press permitting 24 axis pressurization, the largest in the country.

●Brazing of large partsOn the basis of abundant data, bonding is performed under consideration of soaking properties, atmosphere control for prevention of distortion from heating to cooling, etc.

The largest brazing equipment in the country can be used for brazing of large parts.

●Friction pressure weldingThe friction heat generated at the connection part is used to heat the joint parts, and then bonding is done by applying pressure for plastic deformation.

We introduced military specifications early on in the fields of defense-related equipment as well as equipment related to aviation and space exploration, and on the basis of these specifications, we have contributed positively to the application of the specifications of aircraft manufacturers. The management system that cleared these extremely strict specifications is applied not only to products related to aviation and space, but to all of our products, and it has been appraised highly by various quarters.The transition from military specifications to ISO 9000 was also started rather early on, and efforts to raise the standards of the management system by acquisition of certification for special machining in fields such as aviation and space continue.

Acquisition of ISO 9000 certification did not end simply with acquisition of the certification, but the conventional quality assurance system was revised from the bottom up and an original system was established aiming for even further improvement. This has unified the ISO requirements with the immense amount of expertise acquired by the Company over many years, and a total quality assurance system has been realized.Our ISO 9001 accredited plants are Himeji, Gunma, Shiga, Ibaraki, Kanagawa, and Chiba. With our new Toki Plant scheduled to acquire accreditation by September 2017.Our JIS Q 9100 accredited plants are Himeji, Shiga, Chiba, and Kanagawa. With our new Toki Plant scheduled toacquire accreditation by September 2017.

We are accredited for environment management system ISO14001 as one of our environmental activities.We are positively tackling environmental issues in order to protect nature. We also continue to contribute to environmental preservation through energy saving, recycling, and environmentally friendly material through our sophisticated metal technology practices.Our ISO 14001 accredited plants are Himeji, Gunma, Shiga, Ibaraki, Kanagawa, and our Technical Center.

In regard to temperature control, which is considered vital to special processes with heat treatment equipment, HIP equipment, etc., we have developed a system for fully automatic temperature distribution measuring/measuring equipment calibration, and strict verification executed periodically. In addition, all product parameters are registered and stored in a computer, enabling manufacturing of many products in small lots.

Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) is the world’s only unified accreditation program for special manufacturing processes for parts in the aerospace industry. Nadcap accreditation is a requirement for special manufacturing processes for parts in aerospace industries, as very strict quality control and audit system is mandatory in order to receive accreditation. Our Shiga and Himeji plant are Nadcap-accredited for heat treatment.

Quality Control

●Sintering by hot pressThe vacuum hot press permits direct sintering with temperature, pressure, time, and atmosphere under the control.

We have hot press that enables heating up to 2000℃.Correspondence is possible also to products requiring high-temperature sintering like ceramics, cermet, etc.

●HIP consolidationWe would manufacture metals difficult to cast, near-net shape with high purity, new materials, composites, and alloyed material.

We have the HIP equipment having the largest workzone (Giga-HIP), and established the backup system, responding for large volume of production with variety of other HIP equipments.
