所長的話

「力學變動所」由國立臺北藝術大學新媒體藝術學系學生組成，其宗旨為使用新媒體藝術的形式，以行動車為載體，研究並宣言「未來

藝術」的概念，藉由「行動」、「介入民眾」、「田野」及「調查」的方式，走出被動、既定的展覽空間，主動走入人群，呈現另一種

嶄新、移動的城市風景。

此項研究為台灣史前無例的計劃，耗時一年並挹注龐大經費，並於今年四月完成了幾乎不可能的任務，所有研究成果也已公佈及分享在

專屬網站及相關公開平台上，使成果繼續發酵及撼動相關領域。

儘管本次計劃圓滿結束，研究員回到各自的專業領域，但不久的將來，大家將會集結、重啓第二次的變動，甚至變動自身，因「力學變

動所」是個持續及變動的概念，也是現在及未來的進行式。

謹此，對於所上每位成員致上最高的敬意。

President 's Words

The New Media Cruiser is composed of students from the Department of New Media Art in Taipei National University of the Arts. In the form of new media art, supported by the moving lab, it aims at researching and declaring the concept of “future art.” By means of “action, participation, field, and research,” the students walk out of the museum and step into the crowd, presenting a brand-new, moving city sights.This unprecedented research, taking up one year and massive spending budget, has completed an almost impossible mission. All research findings are already made public and shared on the official site and related public platform, in hope to spread it out and influence the relevant fields.Researchers go on with their professional fields after the project ends in a satisfactory way. But in the near future, everyone will get together and make changes again, even changing the self. Because “New Media Cruiser” is a concept of continuously changing, and is in progress both in the present and the future.

本所宗旨

我們發現藝術是極具能量的文明產物。在人類的城市生活中，藝術展示於純白寧靜的美術館被瀏覽著，有些人被愉悅、有些人被激發，

然而這個場域像夢境，離走後漸漸忘卻一切美好，繼續水泥叢林的繁忙之中找尋慰藉。對於這個異象，變動所所員們皆深感惋惜、對藝

術的歉疚在腦海裡徘徊不去。

我們亟欲追求藝術力量的最大效應值，決定於 2015 年開始一場計畫，以「速度」——這個世代的核心思維為研究精神，以「藝術能不

能跳脫美術館的空間限制」為研究主題，「藝術」究竟是否，能夠以行動直接介入城市的街牆磚瓦中？能夠與人群面對面——在此時、

此地、此緣分主宰之下——碰撞交錯彼此語彙？

We realize that art is a powerful product of civilization. In cities, art is usually displayed in quiet and peaceful galleries for appreciation. Some people are pleased while some people are inspired. However, this experience fades away like a dream with people gradually disremember the peaceful moment they have had with art after leaving. They continue going on with the hustle and bustle of city life and searching for comfort in the concrete jungle.As members of the New Media Cruiser Institute, we feel regretful for this city phenomenon and that there is something we should do about it.In order to pursue the most effective form of art, we decided to start a series of projects in 2015. Using "Speed", a core value of this generation, as the motif of our research, we studied the potential of art to exceed the limitations of presentation in galleries. Could art be brought into the city walls through actions? Could it face the crowds, get involved, or even communicate with the city?

力學變動所是由四十位來自物理學、人類行為學、心理學、文字學、科技知能、都市考究等各個領域中的權威自發性組成的研究機構！

所在實驗室的外觀是一台巨型卡車，載著進行天馬行空實驗的四十位研究員在各地奔馳，當每一個階段性研究結案時，便會將成果展現

於車體上，而研究員們也不時在街上進行田野調查與人群接觸！

此次計畫，則是在「速度」、「空間」與「人群」間的相互作用概念之下延伸出四大研究主題。經研究員詳盡分析搜集的樣本、套入研

究後，力學變動所再度將四大研究成果安裝於實驗室外牆，展開為期七天的巡迴實驗。

組織形象

The New Media Cruiser is an institute founded spontaneously by forty authorit ies from various fields such as physiology, praxeology, psychology, grammatology, technology & information, and urban development. Exciting experiments are performed every day inside a moving lab built in a huge truck. Also, researchers conduct fieldworks from time to time, interacting with the public. Each time a periodical study ends, the results are displayed on the walls of our moving-lab.This time, a project based on the concept of “the interaction between speed, space and people” leads to four research themes. After thoroughly analyzing the collected samples and applying them into research, the New Media Cruiser once again presents our results on our lab walls, launching a seven day experiment tour.

Based on the research point and the image of The New Media Cruiser, the Image Advertising video is an announcement of the city cruising. From the beginning stage of the initial idea to the final result of the moving-lab, it represents the research spirit of the institute.

移動實驗室這裏是力學變動所所員們的日常研究空間，裝載著各式精密感測器，在實驗室行進過程所造成的位移及

速度，將觸發儀器感官、投射其解讀成果於外牆，右牆為 6mx2m 影像發送平面儀，左牆為巨型都市檢視

裝置。

Moving-lab is a daily research room for the researchers of the New Media Cruiser, and it’s loaded with many delicate instruments, detecting movement of the Moving-lab during the cruise. The movement detected further triggers the sensor and projects the result on the wall of the Moving-lab. The wall on the right side is a screen of launching device, which sized 6mx2m, and the left side one is a giant city scanner.

為了取得藝術、速度與人群三者之間的異常數據，研究員帶著儀器與研究所研發出的 IPAD 人，踏出實驗室來到街上，執行

田野調查採樣作業。

首先，研究員悄悄來到台北捷運上。捷運帶來的速度感使研究員得以展現微型模擬作品，同時也藉著進行數場行為藝術，來

抓取在捷運空間中與人群的微妙數值。接著研究員走遍大街小巷，除了持續地進行表演藝術與微型實驗外，IPAD 人也在一

旁傳達著研究員的研究理念。

To obtain data caused by the unusual relationship between art, speed and public, researchers come to streets with their research equipment and their invention, iPad Men, for field research. Our researchers first quietly appeared in Taipei MRT. The speed from the MRT allowed them to execute small-scale simulations of their project. Researchers also presented several performance art to collect data from the relation between the people and environment. Then they cruised the city to do more performance art and simulation experiments with iPad Men aside spreading the institute’s concept.

【研究動機】

在這個資訊越來越多的世界裡，速度加劇不止，導致真實的距離被刪除及自身體感消失，缺乏生活意義的體認：人們不斷追求、追求，

直至恍惚、直至空白、直至扁平。我們試圖將速度及時間之對應影像化，使觀者在此地此刻感知、接受其共構過程。

【研究內容】

螢幕的運動似幽靈一般——每一個當下立即就地成為記憶，真實時、地空間卻虛擬化的螢幕畫面，像一卷時間／速度之橫幅，持續地推

移、展露及收起，帶給觀者「歷地共時」之體驗。

【研究方法】

以攝錄鏡頭即時抓取景觀至螢幕、配合 Processing 程式呈現畫⾯：螢幕中⼀線切割出右向的此刻，線的左向則是速度中的微觀——提

取其中一單位將其延遲放⼤、彷彿慢速快門效果般地，拉長至扁平的單色塊狀態，⽽在此凝結住且同時正在逝去中的過往片段，受速度

快慢影響產生縱向地相對延伸或壓縮的視覺。

[Motivation]In the age of information explosion, our awareness towards physical length and consciousness are decreasing due to intensifying speed, making us unable to recognize the meaning of life. We attempt to visualize the correspondence of speed and time, and let the audience be aware of every present moment which they being part of.

[Research Content]The displayed images are like phantoms on the screen. Every present becomes a memory of the next instant. Images of every moment reveal, pass then vanish in the scroll of time and speed on a virtual screen, letting the audience experience changes of time and space in the same time.

[Methods]The Velociscope uses a webcam to capture real-time videos processed by Processing to show on the screen. The screen is divided into two sections by an invisible line in the center. The right side shows the unprocessed and processed video of the present. The left side shows macros of every captured moment. Pixels are extracted from the center line, being extended and enlarged into monotone patches, resembling the effect caused by a slow camera shutter. These fragments of time elapse continuously, and may compress or extend vertically due to speed.

【研究動機】

法國哲學家保羅維希留曾說：「在速度與虛擬的世界中，真假莫辨，人獸難分，沒有永恆，只有意外。」而所謂的意外來自於科技與媒

體的超載，如果我們將意外放置在科學的命題底下正是著名的薛丁格的實驗：他會觀察到一隻活貓或一隻死貓，兩者之間的變異，更是

當代社會中人與身體感的一種絕對與超速，身體會怎麼變異？我們又如何觀看。

【研究內容】

對二十一紀元的我們來說，身體經驗已被過度的訊息所轟炸，換之帶來了破碎化和無法組織的建構系統，所以我們試著重新思考。實行

了影像擠壓的封閉場所與水裡不衡定的實驗，試著討論身體的可能，達到另種輕盈感知與晃動的樣貌。

【研究方法】

我們在力學變動所的研究車裡，以兩種身體，用影像擠壓在表面的螢幕裡：以片段與隨機的方式，與城市對話。利用 GPS 測速加上三軸

加速度感測器判斷車子的行進狀態：行進、加速、震動、靜止，進而切換播放不同的影片。

[Motivation]Paul Viril io, a French Philosopher, once said in Speed and Politics: “In a world of speed and simulation, it is hard to tell real from fake, human from animal. Nothing is eternal; only accident happens.” The accident is a result from the ever speeding development of technology and information overload. If we seek the similarity of the accident in science, we’d find the famous Schrödinger's cat. Technology reveals the unstable nature of our world. Together with the rapid pace of modern life, the world now put our body and mind in an unprecedented situation. How we react? And how we see the world?

[Research Content]In the 21st century, our minds are bombarded with too much information. To adapt to this change, we live with fracture and abandon the idea of Grande system, being unable to construct. Inspired by the situation, we performed an experiment with a trapped body. We put the body in a tiny, enclosed space or in the water, trying to represent, depict, and simulate the state of mind. We attempt to explore the possibility of body and visual image.

[Methods]We placed moving images on the vehicle. With GPS and acceleration sensor, the player automatically changes the clip according to the state of the car, creating a situation to communicate with the city.

【研究動機】

在由堅硬至柔軟的各種化合物所組成的都市裡，這個巨大的集合體到底是鋼筋水泥、人類情感，或是金錢物質的堆疊。經過反覆觀察，

身為研究員的我們了解到不管如何拆解與分析，都無法研究出完整的都市是如何構成的，而需要具備什麼樣的條件才稱得上完整的都市

呢？

【研究內容】

以當事者觀點檢討自身與都市的關係，探究都市裡無形的鏈結為何。

【研究方法】

我們在倚賴為生的科學裡，提供物理現象與數據呈現在儀器中，利用不斷行徑的實驗室掃描台北以及各種構成都市面貌的最低需求——

人與建築，同時間觀者能夠讀取儀器上的資料結果，反映並檢視內心與之的關係。

[ Motivation ]A city is a combination of various hard and soft compounds, l ike steel and concrete, and human emotions and stacks of money and materials.In the end, which of these aggregates the rest pieces into an assembly?After repeated observation, we learned that no matter how we break-down and analyze the city, the answer of how a complete city is formed is still undefined. So, what are the conditions that determine a real complete city?

[ Research Content ]The content is to review from the perspective of the people involved about their own relationship with the city, and explore the invisible connection.

[ Methods ]Due to our reliance on technology and science, we provide an instrument with physical phenomenon and statistics that is applied on a constantly moving laboratory. It scans Taipei city and its components: human and architectures.Meanwhile, viewers will be able to read information from the results revealed by the instrument, which reflects the minds, and examines the relationship therewith.

【研究動機】

置身於網路與現實世界裡，虛擬與真實之間所造成的差異時常令人困惑，往往人們感受到差別時，只身處於一方。若我們能共處於雙方

之中，兩者的交會究竟能帶給我們什麼樣的感受？

【研究內容】

我們研究並蒐集網路空間中各個城市的人文地景，再現為曾在這片土地上奔跑的動物（台灣雲豹），使不同的時空交織產生對話。最後

將在場與不在場的事物同步展現於城市街頭，讓歷史、虛擬與現實世界交會。

【研究方法】

研究員利用 GPS 感應器定位，接收行動車行徑的區域路段，使用程式計算即時變換影像，影像由各個地區關鍵字在網路上搜尋到的圖像

組合，拼貼成的長型街道，反映出該地區的獨特性與這座城市在市民心目中的面貌。在移動的行動車螢幕上，顯示出流動的碎形粒子，

粒子結合成為跑動的動物——台灣已滅絕的代表特有種——台灣雲豹。透過此研究計畫，讓雲豹再次奔跑在這塊土地上，如同我們忽視

的那些歷史痕跡，歷史雖然已成為過去，但它的痕跡仍然會留存在人們記憶所創造的虛擬城市之中。

[ Motivation ]Living in the world of Internet and reality, we are always confused about the difference between virtuality and reality. If we can live in both sides at the same time, how do they react to each other and what kind of impact will happen to us?

[ Research Content ]We col lect the information and pictures about the culture of Taipei City on the Internet, presenting virtual i ty and real i ty in the city synchronously and forming connection with each other. We take Formosan clouded leopard as a media linked to our studies of the present and the past, hoping to create a conversation among virtuality, reality and our history.

[ Methods ]Using the impression that the citizens have towards Taipei city as searching key words, we build a virtual city by Internet images and install it on the stage truck. Combined with a GPS location system, the stage truck displays different images on different places. The images will turn into the shape of a Formosan clouded leopard, an extinct species in Taiwan. We digitalize the creature and make it reappear on the streets in Taipei City.

聲響實驗一 Noise Performance I

延續前作主題「水」，利用程式與感測器，使水面變成一演奏界面。此次

表演將肢體介入的成分提高，更加即興地產生聲響的互動。除此以外，視

覺的意像上，藉由自身體倘流而下的紅色顏料，作為暗喻女性疼痛的表徵。

Based on my earlier artwork, “Flow Inside”, this performance focuses on the interaction between movements of my body and the water sound installation. With controlled programs and sensors, the surface of water transforms into an interface as instrument playing.The visual is a real-time projection image. The red pigment dropping in water and the red paint flowing down from my body represent the female’s pain. It’s cruel but quiet.

這段表演由兩個部分組成，前段用 Looping 的方式堆疊各式電吉他與雜訊的聲響，配上由聲音

互動的閃爍畫面，最後累積成一個隨機、狂躁的狀態；後段則回到有著某種無奈感的吉他旋律，

搭配經由吉他拾音器轉化並調變的電影台詞，悼念著創作上逝去的單純，而畫面也隨著聲音的情

緒緩緩地堆疊著各種稍縱即逝的幾何圖形。

聲響實驗二 Noise Performance II

This performance consists of two parts. In the first part, various sounds from guitar and noise are piled up by looping and companies, and played with flashing video controlled by sonic interaction. Finally, the video presents a random and manic status.For the sake of mourning the lost pureness of creating, the second part is presented with a hopeless melody, followed by a distorted film monologues transformed by guitar pickups. The video follows the emotion of the sound, showing transient geometric figures piling up slowly.
