Εφτασε το δεύτερο τεύχος!!!!Η διανομή του πρώτου τεύχους έγινε σε όλο το νησί με μια μικρή καθυστέρηση στην πόλη της Λευκάδος την Παρασκεύη.Υπήρχε αναστάτωση στον πεζόδρομο και την παραλία!Είναι φοβερή η διαφορά που μπορεί να δεί κανείς σε ένα μλερος στο διάστημα μιας εβδομάδας.Ελπίζω ότι όλα τα μαγαζιά δούλεψαν απο τους Ελληνες επισκέπτες καθώς ο καταπληκτικός καιρός βοήθησε στο να γίνει μια καλή αρχή για ένα κερδοφόρο καλοκαίρι.Λέγεται ότι θα έρθουν αρκετοί επισκέπτες και κάνουμε τον σταυρό μας ότι έτσι θα είναι.

Μετά απο την Λευκάδα ήταν στην Λυγιά,Νικιάνα,Περιγιάλι,Νυδρί,Βκυχό,Γένι,Παλαιοκατούνα,Κατοχώρι,Σύβοτα,Βασσιλική,Καριά,Βαυκερή,Αγιος Νικήτας,Εγκλουβή και Κάθισμα..κτλ.Το θέαμα που αντίκρισα οδηγώντας γύρω απο το νησί ήταν μοναδικό παρόλο που μερικά σημεία του δρόμου χρειάζονται επισκευή.

Ευχαριστώ όλους όσους βοήθησαν στην διανομή,αλλιώς μπορεί και να ήμουν ακόμη εκεί.Εάν κάποιος απο εσάς που μένει σε κάποιο απομακρισμένο μέρος του νησιού θα ήθελε να προμηθευτεί την εφημερίδα τότε θα ήταν καλό να με ενημερώσει.___________________________________________________

Onto the second issue! The fi rst one was distributed all over the island after being delayed slightly in Lefk as on Friday. The pedestrian street and the sea front were buzzing! It was amaz-ing to see the diff erence that one week can make on a place. I hope all of the shops made the most of the visiting Greeks, the amazing weather and have had a nice little start to what will hopefully be a prosperous summer. The word is that lots of people are coming and fi ngers crossed they are.

After Lefk ada it was onto Lygia, Nikiana, Perigiali, Nidri, Vlicho, Geni, Paleokatouna, Katahori, Sivota, Vassiliki, Karia, Vafk eri, Agios Nikitas, Englouvi and Kathisma etc. The views I saw on the way round our beautiful island were stunning although some of the roads are in dire need of work.

Q. Just launched, go to start engine and it doesn’t work. A few simple things to check before phoning for assistance.

A. First check if the engine battery is turned on and charged. Does the engine spin over and not start or does it not turn at all? If you have the ability test the power going to the starter motor with a volt meter, to make sure it actually has power. If the engine is not turning at all, see if you can turn it by hand using a tool on the crankshaft. If it does not turn by hand you will need assistance. Otherwise if it spins freely and you have power to the starter motor, it probably needs the fuel system bleed-ing. Bear in mind every type of diesel engine has a slightly diff erent method of bleeding, so you should ask a mechanic to show you how to bleed your specifi c engine. Q. You get back after the winter and you fi nd disaster has struck your boat... The fridge (keeping those all important items cold) has stopped working. A. The fi rst thing is to fi nd and check your fridge compressor is running. As they are normally very quiet when running you made need to put your hand on the compressor to feel it is vibrating. Also check the paper label on the side of the compressor to see what refrigeration gas has been used. If it is a newer fridge it will have R-134a which can be serviced. Older fridges will have R-12 gas which is now illegal and unserviceable. If your fridge is running but your cool plate is not getting cold you will require a technician to come and recharge the refrigeration gas. It is a good idea to have your fridge professionally checked and serviced once a season at least. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q. Μόλις έγινε η καθέλκυση,προσπάθω να ξεκινήσω αλλά η μηχανή δεν παίρνει μπρός.Μερικά πράγματα που πρέπει να τσεκάρετε πρίν τηλεφωνήσετε για βοήθεια.

A. Πρώτα τσεκάρετε εάν η μπαταρία είναι ανοιχτή ή φορτισμένη.Μήπως η μηχανή προσπαθεί να πάρει μπρός ή δεν ξεκινάει καθόλου?Εάν έχετε την ικανότητα να τσεκάρετε την ισχύ με ενα βολτόμετρο,για να βεβαιωθείτε ότι τουλάχιστον έχει ρεύμα.Εάν η μηχανή δεν γυρνάει καθόλου,δες εάν μπορείς να το γυρίσεις με το χέρι σου χρησιμοποιώντας κάποιο εργαλείο.Εάν δεν γυρνάει με το χέρι τότε θα χρειαστείς βοήθεια.Ειδάλλως εάν στριφογυρίζει ελεύθερα και εσύ ρεύμα στην μηχανή εκκίνησης,τότε ενδεχομένως χάνει καύσιμα.Φέρε στο νού σου κάθε τύπο μηχανής diesel όπου ίσως να έχει μια μικρή διαφορά στον τρόπο που τραβάει υγρά,οπότε τότε πρέπει να ρωτήσεις έναν μηχανικό να σου δείξει τι πρέπει να κάνεις για την συγκεκριμένη μηχανή.

Q. Γυρνάς ύστερα απο εναν ολόκληρο χειμώνα και διαπιστώνεις ότι τό σκάφος σου έχει πάθει ζημιά απο την κακοκαιρία....Το ψυγείο(όπου κρατούντε όλα τα σημαντικά αντικείμενα κρύα)έχει σταματήσει να λειτουργεί.

A.Πρώτα πρέπει να κοιτάξεις τον συμπιεστή του ψυγείου σου να δείς εάν δουλεύει.Καθώς λειτουργούν αθόρυβα θα πρέπει να βάλεις το χέρι σου πάνω στον συμπιεστή για να δείς εάν δονείται.Επίσης κοίτα στο ταμπελάκι του συμπιεστή προκειμένου να δείς τι υγρό ψύξης χρησιμοποιείται.Εάν είναι καινούργιο τότε θα έχει R-134a στο οποίο μπορεί να γίνει σέρβις.Τα παλαιότερα ψυγεία έχουν R-12 το οποίο υγραέριο είναι πλέον παράνομο και δεν γίνεται πλέον σέρβις.Εάν το ψυγείο δουλεύει αλλά δεν ψύχεται τότε θα χρειαστεί κάποιος τεχνικός όπου θα επαναφορτίσει το υγρό ψύξης.Είναι καλό να γίνεται σέρβις στο ψυγείο σας μια φορά την σεζόν απο επαγγελματία.

In The Land Of Zeus & The Windsurf GodsSituated within a large bay on the southern tip of Lefk ada, Vasiliki has developed from a humble fi shing village to a mecca for windsurfers thanks to its famous thermal winds known locally as ‘Eric’.

I am not here to windsurf today however, but to sample the delights of an evening out with my friends and to see if Vasiliki lives up to its reputation as a party town for the blonde and the beautiful!

The pretty harbour front is clustered with tavernas , bars and cafes, their tables and chairs virtually toe dipping distance from the water. Although it is only May the early evening air is balmy, and it is easy to see Vasilikis charm as fi shing boats and charter yachts bob along together on the harbour wall.

Before dinner a group of us wander along the small shopping street which is lined with souvenir & surf wear shops. Although the normal touristy stuff is off ered for sale, there are some lovely boutique shops amongst them and Brendas Jewellery in particular stands out with its gorgeous array of aff ordable handmade jewellery.

We have already decided to eat at Penguins tavern, right on the harbour front. The gregarious owner Mary is welcoming and accommo-dates our large group on one long table. For simplicity we settle on a selection of mezes (Greek salad, a selection of dips and saganaki) with a shared main course which transpires to be large plates of grilled meat with chips. The food is very simple but the wine and beer are kept fl owing and our fi nal bill of less than 15 euros per head is fantastic value.

In good spirits we head to the infamous ‘Zeus’ bar for a post dinner tipple or 2. The season and the evening is yet young, so the bars are quiet, but the music is loud! Some of the group choose to sit outside for a more relaxed evening while the rest head inside and are soon lured by jugs of ‘Blue Juice’ not entirely sure what is in this psychedelic cocktail, but it goes down well and there are soon bodies doing interesting things on the dance fl oor.

And so a good night was had by all! Vasiliki is certainly geared towards the younger windsurf crowd, but if you are not young or surfy don’t let this image put you off visiting this charming, vibrant village. The atmosphere can be magical in the evening and if you don’t fancy danc-ing on the bar until all hours there are plenty of waterside cafes catering to the more chilled approach. Or for a daytime visit, the harbour is very peaceful for a lunchtime stop with front seats to the entertainment as the the windsurf gods do their stuff on the water.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Τοποθετημένη στην νότια πλευρά του νησιού ,Η Βασσιλική απο ένα μικρό ψαροχώρι μεταμορφώθηκε σε μέκκα των windsurfer λόγω των θερμαντικών ανέμων της όπου είναι γνωστοί ως “Eric”.

Ωστόσο,εγώ δεν είμαι εδώ σήμερα για να κάνω windsurf,αλλά για να απολαύσω ένα απόγευμα με τους φίλους μου και για να διαπιστώσω εάν ισχύουν οι φήμες,ότι δηλαδή η Βασσιλική είναι το ιδανικό μέρος για πάρτυ με τις Ξανθιές και τις Ομορφες!!!

Η όμορφη παραλία έχει κατακλυστεί απο ταβέρνες,μπαρ και καφετέριες,όπου τα τραπέζια τους και οι καρέκλες τους είναι σε απόσταση αναπνοής απο την θάλασσα.Ωστόσο είναι

μόλις Μάιος και τα απογεύματα είναι λίγο ψυχρά,είνια πολύ ωραία να βλέπεις την γοητεία της Βασιλικής με τα ψαροκάικα και τα ιστιοπλοικά να κινούνται μαζί πάνω κάτω στο λιμάνι.

Πριν απο το δείπνο περιπλανηθήκαμε στον πεζόδρομο με τα μικρά μαγαζάκια με τα σουβενίρς και τον εξοπλισμό για σέρφερς.Παρόλο που τα συνηθισμένα τουριστικά προιόντα είναι προς πώληση,υπάρχουν κάποιες πανέμορφες μπουτικ ανάμεσα σε αυτές και της Μπρέντας.Τα κοσμήματα στέκονται πολύ όμορφα τοποθετημένα και σε πολύ καλές τιμές.

Εχουμε ήδη αποφασίσει να φάμε στην ταβέρνα πιγκουίνος,δεξιά μπροστά στο λιμάνι.η κοινωνικότατη ιδιοκτήτρια κυρία Μαίρη καλωσορίζει το μεγάλο μας γκρούπ και μας τοποθετεί σε ένα μακρόστενο τραπέζι.Για απλότητα επιλέγουμε μια ποικλία απο μεζέδες(χωριάτικη,μια ποικιλία απο σάλτσες,και σαγανάκι)με ένα ενιαίο κυρίως πιάτο με ψητά κρέατα και πατάτες τηγανιτές.Το φαγητό είναι πολύ απλό αλλά το κρασί και η μπύρα ρέουν άφθονα και ο τελικός λογαριασμός είναι κάτι λιγότερο απο δεκαπέντα ευρώ το άτομο,η οπία τιμή είναι καταπληκτική.

Με πολύ καλή διάθεση κατευθυνόμαστε για το μπαρ’ΖΕΥΣ’για ένα ποτάκι ίσως και δύο.Η σεζόν και τα απογεύματα είναι ακόμη ήρεμα και έτσι μπορείς να ακούσεις δυνατή μουσική!!Μερικοί απο το γκρούπ επέλεξαν να καθήσουν έξω όσο οι υπόλοιποι απολάμβαναν μεσα ένα άκρως ψυχεδελικό κοκτέιλ ονόματι ‘blue juice’,όπου πίνοταν πολύ ευχάριστα, και πολύ σύντομα τα κορμιά μας άρχισαν να λικνίζονται στους ρυθμούς της μουσικής.

Ολοι απόλαυσαν την υπέροχη αυτή βραδιά!!!Η Βασιλική συνήθως κατακλύζεται απο νεους που λατρεύουν το windsurf ωστόσο ακόμη και αυτοί που δεν είναι αθλητικοί τύποι έχουν την δυνατότητα να περάσουν πολύ όμορφα.Η ατμόσφαιρα είναι μαγική τα απογεύματα και έαν δεν ενδιαφέρεσαι να διασκεδάσεις σε κάποιο απο τα μπαράκια τότε μπορείς να διαλέξεις κάποιο απο τα καφέ όπου προσφέρουν μια πολλή ζεστή ατμόσφαιρα.Κατά την διάρκεια της ημέρας ωστόσο μπορείς να διαλέξεις κάποια απο τις παραδοσιακές ταβέρνες στην παραλία για καλό φαγητό απολαμβάνοντας τους σερφερ να κανουν πολυ καλά την δουλειά τους!!!!
