The test-house radiographic section housestwo 4x4 metre chambers equipped tohandle both X and Gamma-Ray
radiography. The facility provides a high-quality inspection service covering a widerange of components, from electronic chipsto heavy-wall castings up to 3 thick.
Material Measurements has an established
reputation for providing a consistently highstandard of service in the non-destructivetesting of cast components.

Together with a full library ofreference radiographs and anin-depth knowledge of allrelevant national andinternational specifications,
Material Measurementsprovides definitive standardsof service which can includethe preparation of quality-
assurance recommendationsand procedures for inclusion inour clients own productionprocesses.radiography for
critical applications
Our radiographic chambers areequipped with 160kV dual-focus,
constant potential X-ray units whichenable very high levels of sensitivityto be obtained and provide the meansto examine small components such as
integrated circuits and miniaturised semiconductors. Beingable to work on this scale has enabled us to provide aservice to the electrical and electronic manufacturingindustries that has proved very successful in identifying
and resolving pre-production and manufacturing defects, thus saving time and resources.
Material Measurements has accrued expert knowledge throughits frequent involvement in large-scale radiographicexaminations for all sectors of industry but in particularaviation, with which it shares a close working relationship. The
companys expertise has been used in many different ways, from forensic testing of criminal evidence to analysis ofcomponents for air-crash investigators.

Our forward-looking investment in X-ray equipment and technology has placed us atthe forefront of radiographic testing and analysis. This has particular relevance to
aerospace manufacturing where new materials and production processes require thatwe keep pace with the demandsimposed by progress within theindustry. Our inspectionfacilities can handle a wide
range of components and sub-assemblies and we are proud ofour association with thedevelopment of some of the
worlds most successful civiland military aircraft.

Although the radiographic inspection of final machined components is seldomrequired we have been involved with the detection of braze material trapped withincomposite assemblies in such diverse applications as the cooling systems of space-
flight vehicles to machined forgings used by a number of leading motor-racing teams.
By a gradual process ofrecommendation, our reputationin the manufacturing industry hasspread to other walks of life andwe are now acknowledged as oneof the leading exponents of
special-effect radiography foradvertising and marketinggraphics.
We are also becoming well-known amongst the keepers ofthe nations heritage as a result ofthe growing demand for our kid-
glove service to museums and artgalleries wishing to probe theinnermost secrets of theirpriceless treasures.
