• Contract for the stay at the centre in conjunction with payment of allowance
• Flexible hours for payment of allowance for different groups
Conflict escalating measures
• Cash payment procedure
• Disciplinary reduction / withdrawal of allowance
• Low allowance, also between Eastern and Western Europe
• Allowance not in line with inflation
• Asylum seekers stay away from pocket money payment / claim their right later
• Prolonged stay at the asylum centre - no pocket money
• No pocket money for minors in the family
• Financial and other support from family members and friends residing in the country
• Higher level of allowance for families than for single persons

• Never exceeding the capacity with more than 105 %
• Short stay in the reception centre
• Easy negotiations with tenders
• Positive disposition of “old” residents when welcoming new ones

• Overcrowded facilities
• Anticipation of being moving to another location
• Intolerance between nationalities sharing rooms / common facilities during temporary accommodation arrangements

1. Training courses on conflict management on all levels2. Conflict management policies, procedures3. Intercultural mentors among staff helping to find a job, sign up for a language classes4. No walkie-talkies (signal value: we do not expect troubles)5. Non-violent approach 6. Sanctions and rewards 7. Involvement in social and cultural life of the local community 8. Systematic meetings between diff. staff groups dealing with asylum seekers with special behavior, mental illness etc. , updating one
another on current status / development9. Asylum seekers cook for themselves 10. Staff and asylum seekers eat together in the canteen 11. Large number of NGOs present at the centers12. 1. Lack of training courses on conflict management and violent behavior 2. No food differentiation wit regards to diff. ethnic and religious groups 3. Poor conditions in detention centers 4. No guidelines for dealing with conflict 5. More focus on general registration and procedures that staff care6. Staff members are alone in taking care of themselves 7. Lack of security officers to perform risk analyses 8. No stress relief arrangement for the staff 9. Lack of harmonized asylum reception standards , diversity in procedures10. Poor level of information 11. Problems with local community12. Lack of effective support / cooperation / procedures for moving out to the local community after granted permission

Step 1: Form three contextual groups of 8, split up in subgroups of 4 Step 2: In subgroups discuss and agree upon 1 contextual case (10 min)
Step 3: Go back to the ”mother” group, present your cases and ”vote” for one of them (5 min)
Step 4: Work with the case by applying ”co-creation” (30 min)

Step 1: Form groups of 6 includning ”host” and ”guest” countries
Step 2: Find a volunteer who would present his/her home organisation
