Technologies that
• are emerging
• are within the industrial sector (excluding transport & agriculture)
• could gain relevant market share (are promising)
• are both process integrated or end-of-pipe technology
• are relevant for air emissions in EU25 + CH + N in 2005-2020
• less specific emissions (see next slide),
• lower energy demand,
• less raw material consumptive,
• less cost-intensive

Tasks and Scope of Project
Tasks:
• identification of main emitting sectors pollutant-wise in EU25 now and in future
• identification and techno-economic characterisation of promising emerging technologies that are relevant to air emissions in these sectors
• assessment of the impact of these technologies on air emissions in EU25 until 2030
• identification of main drivers and barriers for diffusion of these technologies
Scope:
• identification of promising new technologies for integration into RAINS model and preparation of techno-economic data for these technologies
• information exchange for and from revision of BREF documents
• identification of main drivers and barriers for diffusion of these technologies in order to optimize their promotion, e.g. via research programs or policy measures

Framework
Clean Air for Europe (CAFE) programme: develop a long-term, strategic and integrated policy
• “Assessment of the Air Emissions Impact of Emerging Technologies” project: similar to EGTEI but for technologies in 2005-2020
• EGTEI project (UNECE): review and provide techno- economic data for emission control measures used in RAINS model
