Hombre en Orlando abrefuego, matando a unapersona e hiriendo a 5

ORLANDO, Florida – Un pistolero abrió fuego en las oficinas de lacompañía de ingeniería de donde fue despedido hace dos años, matandoa una persona e hiriendo a cinco más.

Jason Rodríguez, de 40 años de edad, acudió el 6 de no-viembre al edificio de oficinas Legion Place, de 16 pisos dealto, donde se ubica la compañía Reynolds Smith & Hill,una empresa de ingeniería de la que fue despedido en juniode 2007 por su desempeño.

De acuerdo a testigos, una vez dentro de las oficinas deReynolds Smith & Hill, sacó una pistola y disparó contraun empleado en el área de recepción, matándolo. Despuésprosiguió al área común de la oficina, donde hirió a otroscinco empleados.

Rodríguez fue arrestado tres horas después del incidenteen casa de su madre.

Las autoridades no han dicho cómo escapó Rodríguez deledificio de oficinas ni el motivo para realizar esta acción.

Al momento de ser arrestado, Rodríguez se disculpó conlos oficiales y dijo que estaba pasando por un mal momento.

De acuerdo a las autoridades, Rodríguez se encuentra enuna mala situación financiera, con deudas de alrededor de90 mil dólares, recientemente se declaró en bancarrota ydijo no tener dinero para visitar a su hijo, quien vive a mediahora de Orlando.

Al ser presentado ante el juez, Rodríguez fue acusado de asesinato enpriemr grado y le asignaron un defensor de oficio.

Robet Wesley, el defensor de oficio asignado por la corte, dijo que Ro-dríguez era una persona muy enferma mentalmente, pero declinó dar másdetalles sobre su condición. Solamente agregó que estaba detenido enuna celda sin muebles y que sería sometido a una evaluación de saludmental.

ORLANDO, Florida – A gunman opened fire in the offices of hisformer employer, where he was fired from over two years ago, killing

one person and injuring five.Jason Rodriguez, 40, entered the 16-story

Legion Place office building Nov. 6, carry-ing a weapon. He went to the offices ofReynolds Smith & Hill, an engineering firmwhere he worked until he was fired in June2007 for his poor performance. Once therehe fired his weapon killing and employee inthe reception area. He then continued to thecommon area of the office, where he injuredfive other employees.

Rodriguez was arrested by authoritiesthree hours later at his mother’s home. Offi-cers are not giving details about Rodriguez’escape from the building, and the motivesbehind his actions.

When he was arrested Rodriguez apolo-gized to the officers, saying he was goingthrough a bad time.

According to authorities, Rodriguez isover $90,000 in debt, recently filed for

bankruptcy and didn’t have money to visit his son, who lives half anhour away.

Rodriguez has been charged with first degree murder and has beenassigned a public defender.

Robert Wesley, the public defender assigned by the court, said Ro-driguez was very mentally ill person, but declined to give more detailsabout his client, only stating that he is being held in a cell that doesnot have furniture and will undergo a mental health evaluation.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Anthony Sowell, quien la semana pasadafuera acusado de homicidio, violación y secuestro, ahora está siendoinvestigado para ver si es responsable por crímenes que sucedieronmientras él se encontraba en el ejército.

Sowell fue arrestado a finales de octubre, después de que una mujerpresentara una denuncia de que había sido violada en la casa de estehombre. Al investigar, los policías descubrieron 11 cadáveres ocultosen la vivienda.

Sowell, de 50 años de edad, fue presentado ante un juez el 4 de no-viembre. Él fue acusado de cinco cargos de homicidio premeditadopor la muerte de cinco víctimas cuya muerte fue determinada comoestrangulamiento.

Ohio rapist investigatedfor crimes in otherstates, overseas

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Anthony Sowell, who faces multiplehomicide, rape and kidnapping charges, is now being investigated byauthorities to see if he may be responsible for crimes that happenedwhile he was in the military.

Sowell was arrested in late October, after a woman called the policeto report that he had been raped at Sowell’s house. When the author-ities went to the house, they discovered 11 bodies hidden in the prop-erty.

Sowell, 50, had a hearing Nov. 4. At the hearing he was told he hadbeen charged with five counts of premeditated homicide in the deathsof five women who died of strangulation.

He also faces charges of rape, aggravated assault and kidnappingin an incident that happened Sept. 22.

The State’s Attorney’s office said that if he is found guilty he couldface the death penalty.

This case is still under investigation ,but now the FBI has joinedthe case.

The agency informed Cleveland police that they will be checkingany leads from the Sowell case, who was in active service with theMarines from 1978 to 1985. During his service he was stationed inJapan, California and the Carolinas.

Behavioral specialists with the FBI are developing a profile of thekillins to determine if there are any cases that need to be opened orreopened someplace else.

East Cleveland is looking into three unsolved murders, registeredin 1988 and 1989, when Sowell was out of the Marines and beforehe was sent to jail for attempted rape.

All of Sowell’s victims are black.

“Children need to see role models”

Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Cristina (Flores) Delgado recognizedthe lack of ethnicity among the teaching staff of her school. Determined that youngstudents should be exposed to teachers of all kinds of different backgrounds, shedecided to become a teacher herself.

It was while she was finishing her bachelor’s degree at Cen-tral Missouri State University, that she made the phone call toher brother that would bring her to Aurora. He was studyingto be a teacher himself, at Northern Illinois University.

“I told him I wanted to teach in a city with a diverse popu-lation,” she recalled. “He suggested Aurora. I had never evenheard of Aurora.”

In 1971, Cristina began to leave her mark on the West AuroraSchool District, when she was hired to teach at Nancy HillSchool. She taught fourth grade there, before accepting a po-sition at Nicholson School in Montgomery, then at McCleeryand Goodwin schools.

Cristina said, “What I tried to do was to make each child feelspecial. It was important for me to establish a rapport. I wantedstudents to be able to relate to me.”

Respect played an important part in building that rapport,said Cristina.

Interestingly enough, Cristina recalls making her own informal study of diversityin the schools in the ’70s. She only found three teachers: herself, her brother,Lorenzo Flores, who was teaching special education at McCleery; and her sister,Carmen Flores, who was teaching at Washington Middle School.

Lorenzo went on to get his doctorate and is now a professor. Carmen has sincemoved to Seattle. Cristina retired in 1999 due to a family illness. She lives in Oak-brook.

“There’s no greater calling than teaching”

Growing up in Chicago in a blue-collar family, Lorenzo Flores says he decided tobecome a teacher after seeing Flowers for Algernon. The film, which chronicles theexperiences of a man with an IQ of 68 who temporarily gains intelligence, inspiredLorenzo to pursue a career in special education. “That movie motivated me,” he said.

“I wanted to help those who could help themselves the least.”Lorenzo attended Northern Illinois University, graduating

with a double major, in Elementary Education and Special Ed-ucation.

After graduation, he taught at Little John Elementary Schoolin DeKalb, as well as in Chicago’s public schools. In 1974,Lorenzo’s sister, Cristina, told him about an opening at Mc-Cleery Elementary School on Aurora’s West side. He was im-pressed with the school and the administrator, and accepted aposition as a special education teacher.

For the three years Lorenzo was at McCleery, much of hiswork focused on students who were bussed in from Westwood.“They were mostly at-risk minority students,” said Lorenzo.“I grew up in the inner city, so we could relate. And speaking

Spanish helped me bridge any type of distance.”After leaving McCleery, Lorenzo returned to Chicago, where he worked as an assis-

tant principal, then principal in Chicago schools. He also continued in his studies, re-ceiving a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Chicago StateUniversity; and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Northern Illinous Uni-versity.

Today, Lorenzo is a professor at Governors State University, teaching classes in ed-ucational administration. He also teaches at Chicago State University.

Lorenzo believes “there’s no greater calling than teaching” and credits his parentsfor teaching him the value of education. “They encouraged us to get an education sowe could compete for better jobs,” he said.

En 1971 Cristina empezó a dejar su huella en el Distrito Escolardel Oeste de Aurora, donde fue contratada para dar clases en la Es-cuela Primaria Nancy Hill. Ella enseñó cuarto año antes de aceptarun puesto en la Escuela Nicholson en Montgomery, luego en las es-cuelas McCleery y Goodwin.

Cristina dijo que “lo que yo quise hacer fue hacerle sentir a cadaniño que era especial. Era importante para mí establecer una rela-ción. Quería que los estudiantes se identificaran conmigo”.

El respeto tuvo un gran papel en establecer esta relación, dijoCristina.

Cristina recuerda que ella hizo su propio estudio informal sobre la diversidad en lasescuelas en los años 70. Policías heridos en choque de patrullasREDACCIÓN UNA VOZ

AURORA – Dos oficiales de policía de Aurora resultaron con heridas leves, después de que sus patrullaschocaran al acudir a un llamado por robo.

El incidente sucedió alrededor de las 11:55 p.m. del 4 de noviembre en la esquina de las calles HighlandAvenue y Spruce Street, cuando ambos patrulleros respondían a una llamada por robo.

La oficial Alexandra Martyn, de 26 años de edad, iba en dirección norte por la Highland Avenue, con lasirena y las luces de su patrulla activadas, cuando fue impactada por el vehículo encubierto del oficial AdamWebb, de 32 años, quien también tenía la sirena y las luces de su auto activadas.

El impacto hizo que el vehículo de Martyn golpeara contra un poste.Ambos oficiales fueron trasladados al hospital para recibir atención médica. Martyn recibió tratamiento por

heridas en sus rodillas y en la mano derecha y fue dada de alta, mientras que Webb recibió tratamiento pordolor de espalda y cuello y también fue dado de alta. Ambos vehículos sufrieron daños considerables.

La policía ha iniciado una investigación interna para determinar si se quebrantaron algunos procedimientosantes de que sucediera el choque.

AURORA – The Aurora Housing Authority announced this weekthat the Jericho Circle public housing project will be demolished,probably next summer, and all residents will be relocated.

Jericho Circle is a public housing project in Aurora’s west sideowned by the Aurora Housing Authority and provides affordablehousing to families.

For a long time Jericho Circle residents have complained about dis-repair in the units and people have the idea that crime is higher in thisarea.

Earlier this year the housing authority commissioned a study to findout the long-term viability of the housing units. The study found that,while safe, the buildings have some structural deficiencies that wouldneed lots of repairs. Three different companies came to the conclusionthat it was more cost-effective to demolish the current complex andbuild a new one than rehabbing the existing structures.

Residents still will have some time at Jericho before moving out.The housing authority first has to apply for a permit to demolish

the existing buildings. They plan to file the application next monthand the process could take up to six months. If approved, demolitionis expected to start next summer.

Once the demolition permit is issued, residents will be notified oftheir relocation. Residents can choose between transferring to otherAurora Housing Authority units or receiving housing vouchers thatwill help pay rent expenses wherever landlords accept them.

The vouchers will be available to residents in good standing thatremain in their apartment until they are notified of the demolition, paytheir rent on time and keep their unit in good condition. Those whoare in the process of being evicted or are caught performing criminalacts in Aurora Housing Authority property will not be considered el-igible to receive vouchers.

Once all residents are relocated, the demolition of all existing units,parking lots and community center will begin.

The current structures will be replaced with a new mixed incomehousing development.

The new buildings are expected to go up sometime in 2012.

Jericho Circle es una unidad ha-bitacional que pertenece a la Auto-ridad de Vivienda de Aurora yproporciona vivienda subsidiada afamilias en el oeste de la ciudad.

Las familias que residen en estaunidad habitacional se han quejadode la mala condición en que se en-cuentran las viviendas, además deque se tiene la idea de que el cri-men es alto en este lugar.

Debido a las quejas de residentes

actuales, la autoridad de viviendaencargó un estudio del complejohabitacional, para determinar quése podía hacer a largo plazo con losedificios. El estudio arrojó quehabía deficiencias en la construc-ción del complejo y, a pesar de quelas viviendas fueron consideradasseguras para seguirse habitando,necesitarían muchas reparaciones.En este sentido tres compañíasevaluadoras dijeron que era másefectivo demoler el complejo habi-tacional y reemplazarlo con unonuevo.

Sin embargo, los residentes notendrán que cambiarse de inme-diato.

La autoridad de vivienda tieneplaneado solicitar un permiso parala demolición de Jericho Circle el

mes próximo, pero como estos per-misos se tardan un promedio deseis meses en ser aprobados, la au-toridad de vivienda cree que la de-molición se llevará a cabo elpróximo verano.

Una vez que el permiso de de-molición sea aprobado, los resi-dentes serán reubicados. Losresidentes tendrán la opción decambiarse a otra vivienda públicao de recibir un cupón para recibirayuda con el pago de la renta encualquier lugar que acepte los cu-pones de ayuda.

Los cupones estarán disponiblespara los residentes que sigan en suvivienda actual hasta que se auto-rice el permiso de demolición, quepaguen su renta a tiempo y man-tengan la unidad en buenas condi-ciones.

Las personas en proceso de serdesalojadas o que sean detenidasrealizando actividades criminalesdentro de la propiedad de JerichoCircle no serán consideradas paraestos cupones.

Una vez que todos los residenteshayan sido reubicados, empezarála demolición de los edificios, es-tacionamientos y centro comunita-rio.

Las estructuras actuales serán re-emplazadas por un nuevo com-plejo en que se incluirán viviendaspara personas de diferentes nivelesde ingresos. Se espera que la cons-trucción del nuevo complejo habi-tacional empiece en el año 2012.

AURORA – Two Aurora police officers sufferedminor injuries when their squad cars collided whileon their way to a robbery call.

The incident happened at about 11:55 p.m. Nov. 4at the corner of Highland Avenue and Spruce Street.

Officer Alexandra Martyn, 26, was heading northon Highland Avenue in her marked squad with thelights and the siren on, when she was struck by an un-marked police car driven by Adam Webb, 32. His car

also had the lights and the siren on. The impact pushedofficer Martyn’s vehicle against a utility pole.

Martyn and Webber were taken to the hospital,where they received treatment for their injuries. Mar-tyn was treated for injuries to her right hand and bothknees, while Webber received treatment for back andneck pain.

Both cars were severely damaged.The police department has launched an internal in-

vestigation to determine if any procedures were vio-lated previous to the crash.

Los veteranos de guerra que requieren cuidado médico y viven en lossuburbios del oeste recibieron un regalo adelantado por el Día de los Ve-teranos: la apertura de la nueva clínica de Salud en North Aurora.

La clínica, que abrió sus puertas en octubre, cuenta con consultoriosmédicos y áreas para ofrecer clases y grupos de apoyo, además de tresconsultorios en los que pacientes pueden realizar consultas remotas conmédicos en el Hospital de Veteranos Hines en Maywood, Illinois.

También cuenta con un sistema en Internet que permite a pacientescon enfermedades crónicas registrar sus niveles de glucosa, peso y pre-sión arterial sin tener que ir a la clínica a hacerlo. Esta información esmonitoreada por enfermeras.

Esta clínica también será la sede de varios grupos compuestos de unmédico, una enfermera y un trabajador social, quienes harán visitas a do-micilio a pacientes que no pueden salir de sus casas.

War veterans who live in the western suburbs and require medical carereceived an early Veteran’s Day present: the opening of a new healthclinic in North Aurora.

The clinic, which started operations in October, features exam rooms,areas for classes and support groups and three rooms where patients canhave remote consultations with doctors at the Veteran AdministrationHospital in Maywood.

The clinic also features an online system that allows patients to recordtheir glucose levels, weight and blood pressure instead of going to theclinic to do the same. This information is then monitored by nurses.

In the near future the clinic will add home visitation teams, formed bya doctor, a nurse and a social worker, who will visit patients who cannotleave their homes.

AURORA – Un niño de tres años de edad está encondición crítica en el hospital, después de que apa-rentemente cayó en la alberca de su casa la tarde del8 de noviembre.

Alrededor de las 12:10 p.m. la policía de Aurorarespondió a una llamada en la cuadra 200 de Hamps-hire Avenue para ayudar a los paramédicos con un re-porte de un ahogamiento. Al llegar encontraron avarios familiares y vecinos tratando de dar resucita-ción cardiopulmonar al niño en un lado de una alberca.

Aparentemente el niño estaba afuera mientras supadre trabajaba en el jardín. El padre pensó que elniño había entrado a la casa, pero después de 10 ó 15minutos tanto el padre como la madre empezaron abuscarlo después de no encontrarlo adentro. La madreencontró al niño flotando en la alberca.

At about 12:10 p.m., Aurora Police responded to ahome in the 200 block of Hampshire Avenue on a callto assist paramedics with a reported drowning. Uponarrival, they found several family members andneighbors attempting CPR on the youngster outsideof an above ground pool.

It appears that the boy was outside with his fatherwho was working in the yard. The father believedthe youngster had gone into the home and after about10-15 minutes, both he and his wife began to lookfor the boy after learning he was not inside. Theboy’s mother eventually found him floating in theswimming pool.

ELGIN – A 41 year-old woman has become thesecond fatal victim of the H1N1 virus in KaneCounty. The county’s health department reportedthat the woman died Nov. 2 and she had other un-derlying medical conditions.

The health department didn’t reveal the victim’sidentity. The first death caused by H1N1 in KaneCounty was a man who died in May.

“Unfortunately, the H1N1 flu has a history of af-fecting those with underlying conditions,” KaneCounty Health Department executive director PaulKuehnert said.

“While we work to schedule more appointmentsto administer the vaccine to our residents, we arereminding everyone to take steps to prevent theflu, such as covering your cough, washing yourhands frequently and staying home if you aresick.”

The health department stopped giving out ap-pointments to apply the vaccine the first week in No-vember because the county’s supply of the vaccinehad been depleted.

Kane County Health Department executive direc-

tor Paul Kuehnert said that this last shipment of5,000 vaccines will allow the county to schedule ap-pointments through December. He also said thatwhen other shipments arrive they will schedule vac-cination clinics for children who need booster dosesand will be able to send some of those vaccines toprivate health care providers, who then will be ableto vaccinate their patients that are most at-risk.

FORT HOOD, Texas – Un tiro-teo dentro de la base militar FortHood en Texas, registrado el 5 denoviembre, dejó como saldo 13personas muertas y 29 heridas,entre ellas el pistolero responsable.

El tiroteo empezó alrededor dela 1:30 p.m., en el área denomi-nada Centro de Alistamiento deSoldados o Soldier Readiness Cen-ter, donde los soldados que van aser enviados a la guerra o que re-gresan del campo de batalla reci-ben evaluaciones médicas.Alrededor de 300 soldados se en-contraban formados para recibirvacunas y exámenes de la vista,mientras en un área cercana esta-ban otros soldados en trajes de gra-duación para asistir a unaceremonia especial.

El pistolero, identificado comoel mayor Nidal Malik Hasan, es unpsiquiatra de la armada que dabatratamiento emocional a los solda-dos que regresaban de la guerra.De acuerdo a algunos reportes,Hasan estaba en proceso de ser en-viado a la zona de guerra en elmedio oriente cuando se dio el ti-roteo.

Algunos soldados reportaronque el pistolero gritó “AllahuAkbar”, una frase en árabe que sig-nifica “Dios es Grande”, antes deempezar a disparar.

FORT HOOD, Texas – A shooting inside theFort Hood military base in Texas, left 13 peopledead and 29 injured, among them the suspectshooter. The incident took place Nov. 5.

The shooting started around 1:30 p.m. in the areaknown as Soldier Readiness Center, where soldierswho are getting ready to be deployed or who are re-turning from deployment receive health screenings.About 300 soldiers were in line to receive shots andeye exams, while in a nearby area other soldierswearing graduation gowns were getting ready for agraduation ceremony.

The shooter, identified as Major Nidal MalikHasan, is an army psychiatrist who gave counselingto soldiers returning from war. According to somereports, Hasan was in the process of being deployedto the Middle East when the shooting happened.

Some soldiers who were at the scene said that theshooter had yelled “Allahu Akbar”, an Arabicphrase that means “God is Great” before the shoot-ing began.

Hasan, a 29 year-old practicing Muslim, workedfor six years at the Walter Reed Army Medical Cen-ter, where he studied psychiatry. In July of this yearhe was transferred to Fort Hood.

Hasan was injured when a civilian police officer,Kimberly Munley, who had been injured by him,was able to shoot him four times.

Soon after the shooting there were reports statingthat the shooter had been killed in the incident. Lateron it was notified that Hasan had been transferred

to a military hospital in San Antonio where he wasbeing treated for his injuries.

About six months ago Hasan attracted the atten-tion of authorities because some online postingscompared the suicide bombers with soldiers who layon top of grenades to save their comrades. Investi-gators haven’t been able to determine if these mes-sages were posted by Hasan.

The investigation of this case has discovered thatHasan attended the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center inFalls Church, Virginia at a time when Anwar alAwlaki was the spiritual leader of the center. AlAwlaki is a radical Muslim leader.

The funeral services for Hasan’s mother were heldat the center on May 31, 2001. At that time Awlakiwas a preacher at the center and two of the 911 hi-jackers were also attending the center.

The Falls Church mosque is one of the largestcongregations on the East Coast and thousands ofpeople attend services and prayers there each week.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey said Nov.8 that it’s important for the county not to get caughtup in speculation about Hasan’s Muslim faith, andhe has instructed his commanders to be on the look-out for anti-Muslim reaction to the killings at theTexas post.

Casey also said that until now it seems Hasanacted alone, even when in the beginning there werespeculations about two accomplices.

Fort Hood is the Army’s largest post in theUnited States. It’s home to about 52,000 troops andit’s located half way between Austin and Waco inTexas.

Ford Motor Company announced that they will begin including thefirst inflatable seat belts in their vehicles beginning in2010.

The technology combines features of traditional seatbelts and airbags to provide an added level of crashsafety protection for rear seat occupants.

The advanced restraint system is designed to help re-duce head, neck and chest injuries for rear seat passen-gers, often children and older passengers who can bemore vulnerable to such injuries.

These inflatable seat belts will be available on thenew generation Ford Explorer, which will go into pro-duction next year and over time they will be offered inall the Ford vehicles around the world.

In the event of a frontal or side crash, the inflatablebelt’s increased diameter more effectively holds the oc-cupant in the appropriate seating position, helping toreduce the risk of injury.

Master Sgt. Isaiah Vega of the IllinoisState Police told the Chicago tribune thathanging anything on the rear-view mirror

could be a dangerous, if not deadly error.However, civil rights advocates say this

law is being used as an excuse to stop driv-ers and do a more invasive search.

In an interview with the Chicago Trib-une, Timothy O’Neill, professor at the JohnMarshall Law School, said that since 1996the number of people pulled over for trivialoffenses has increased.

In Illinois the majority of drivers pulledover are minorities.

Defense lawyers have said that oftentimespeople pulled over for having items danglingfrom the rear-view mirror turn out to be driv-ing without a license or without insurance.

The event was held at the Na-tional Museum of Anthropologyand History and was attended byJoseph Blatter, President of FIFA.

Eleven personalities who repre-sent the warrior spirit in differentways, took to the stage, followedby a brief bio and the presentationof an award.

The Fire needed to win by at least to goals inorder to move to the conference final. John Thor-rington scored the first goal of the game from in-side the penalty area in the 35th minute, eveningthe global score. The second goal, scored byBlanco, came six minutes before the end of thegame, sending the sellout crowd into a mass cel-ebration. Chicago Fire will host the Real Salt LakeNov. 14 at 8 p.m. for the Eastern ConferenceChampionship.

Everybody was surprised by the news that Luis Fonsi and Adamari Lopez are separa-ted, because the love between them seemed indestructible.

The couple made the announcement Nov. 8, saying thatthey are going through “a rough time” as a couple.

“After considering it, we have made the decision ofgoing our separate ways,” the couple said in a joint pressrelease.

“This is a situation that we have been working on forquite some time and we understand that at this time this isthe best we can do. Just like it has been from the day wemet, everything has been peaceful and we are looking forour well-being and that of our families,” the press releasesaid.

Fonsi was a great source of support for Lopez, who bat-tled breast cancer. However, according to some rumors, thesinger left the home he shared with Adamari.

The split apparently happened after a magazine publis-hed that he had had an affair with Lilia Luciano, a host inthe TV program Escandalo TV.

The document is dated Aug. 8, 2008 and wasused by Arambula in the process to open a spa withher brother.

He also in-formed that they are putting to-gether all the necessary medicalrecords to support their case andmade a call to the accused to payfor all the damage they havecaused his client and other vic-tims.

“To this date we don’t have afinal tally of all the financial dam-age that has been caused to Ale-jandra Guzman, besides theemotional damage. We are work-ing on it,” he said.

MÉXICO, D.F. – Alejandra Guzmán presentó su denuncia formalcontra Valentina de Albornoz y Jeremías Flores Felipe, a quienes se-ñala como responsables del tratamiento de cosmetología que puso suvida en peligro. La denuncia se realizó el 11 de noviembre.

En una conferencia de prensa realizada después de presentar la de-nuncia, la cantante pidió a la gente que denuncie este tipo de situa-ciones que han provocado amputaciones y muerte.

También dijo que además de los daños físicos, este problema la hamarcado emocionalmente.

“A parte de daños físicos, son emocionales. Yo creo que eso notiene precio porque me doy cuenta que todavía no puedo bailar, deque tenga todavía esa recuperación muy lenta, eso es lo que me hacedar cuenta de que tengo mucha suerte, pero imagínense a la gente, alos que hay allá afuera, amputada de muchas partes de su cuerpo, omuerta”, manifestó la intérprete visiblemente conmovida.

Mientras tanto Carlos Requena, abogado de Guzmán, dijo queambos imputados fueron las personas que convencieron a la cantantede aplicarse el tratamiento estético.

También informó que se está recopilando toda la información mé-dica necesaria para sustentar su caso e hizo un llamado a los acusadospara que reparen el daño hecho a su cliente y a otras víctimas.

“A la fecha no se cuenta con un monto exacto por concepto de losdaños económicos y perjuicios que le han sido, y están siendo, oca-sionados a Alejandra Guzmán, con independencia de los daños emo-cionales. Estamos trabajando en ello”, indicó el abogado.
