Load reduced operationLoad reduced operation provides extra security at complexsites, where narrow sectors with extreme gusts and otherabnormal wind conditions can occur. Load reduced operationenables the turbine to automatically protect itsel againstneedless wear, which can damage the turbine and shorten theservice li e o some components.

Main component preheatingThe cooling system in the V112-3.0 MW is also used orpreheating, which prevents condensation. Primary componentssuch as the generator, the gearbox, the converter and theblade hydraulic system are heated rom inside by means o hotwater in the cooling systems when the turbine restarts a ter aproduction stop in cold climates.

Automatic lubricationAutomatic lubrication o the pitch system, the hub, the yawsystem, the main sha t and the generator boosts reliabilitywhile reducing the requency o service calls.

A giant stride in aerodynamicsVestas is amous or designing and producing some o theworld’s lightest and most e ective blades – blades that deliverthe greatest possible output while causing the least possibleloads to the turbine.With the groundbreaking 54.6-metre blades on the V112-3.0MW, Vestas has taken another giant stride in aerodynamics.Although these blades have the same width as our 44-metreblades, they sweep an area that is 55% greater to deliverconsiderably higher output.Finally, the blades are designed to be less sensitive to dirt,resulting in better per ormance at sites a ected by salt, insects
