Cybercrime

Last week, Mona was contacted by her credit card company. She was surprised to find out that her credit card was used to buy things that cost over $2,000 – things she didn’t buy! Actually, Mona was the victim of cybercrime. Someone had gained access to her email account and found out her credit card number. Then the criminal did a lot of shopping using Mona’s name and personal information.

Mona reacted quick to protect her privacy. Her credit card was cancelled immediately, and the event was reported to the relevant credit office. After that, Mona logged in to all her online accounts, including her social media and online banking accounts. The passwords were changed for each one. Finally, the incident was reported to her friends and family. Mona asked them to tell her if they noticed any strange activity from her accounts.
