I am a Taiwanese and I have lived in Taiwan for 20 years.I grown up in a little country, and moved to Taipei City when I got into the college.

My experience with different lifestyle showed me the difference in the wants and needs of people from various societies.It also stimulate my curiosity to widen my horizon and enrich inner of my design.My education in SCID helped me build a strong foundation in sketch-ing and computer abilities, but also helped me understand how to be a industrial designer.

01職人 . 執人Medical Cart Design

Choosing a career,and hoping to thoroughly understand the needs of them through researh, and design a project.

PROFESSION CHOOSINGI choocing nurse as my topic, after visited them, I discovered that they working under huge pressure, and started to think how to improve their working efficiency.

I think the most directly way is improve their working tools, so I decided to redesign a medical carts.

Q : How many times do you work daily?A : 8-10 hours

Q : Do you have some Physical conditions caused by this profession?A : Endocrine dyscrasia, Sleep problems, huge pressure......

Q : Do you need to moving heavy objects while working?A : Not very often, but medical carts are diffi-cult to moving caused by their huge volume.

Q : Do you think some working tools should be redesign?A : Syringes, medical carts......

Problem

Because the need of carrying lots of medical equipment, so medical carts need lots of space.

It happens frequently that it’s hard to push the cart in the hospital next to the sickbed because of the big size of the cart. At this moment, nurses will have to prepare all the tools needed one by one to start working.

Classification

There are several medical behaviors , nurses need specific tools when they doing different medical behav-iors.

The first thing is classifying imple-ments according different medical practices.

Portable toolboxes

It’s more convenient for nurses to get all the necessary tools when a cart cannot be pushed beside the sickbed by designing a drawer containing several toolboxes which can be taken out and become a tool set in a module way.

Process/ About how to combine cart and tool boxes ,think-ing where the tool boxes should be placed ,and convenience of taking and storing them.

/ Finally decided to put the toolboxes in a drawer, so they can be taken more con-veniently.

Choosing a book, and hoping to understand its gist then applying on the product.

I tried to apply the concept from the book on watches, design a watch with eastern style.

In'ei Raisan is an essay on Japanese aesthetics by the Japanese author and novelist Jun'ichirō Taniza-ki that was originally published in 1933.

Gist

The differences of beauty explaining between west and east, Westerners ad-vocating bright, but Asians pay atten-tion to the shadow aesthetics.

The definition of shadow is not com-pletely dark, but finding the existence of beauty between bright and shadow.

INSPIRATION

Go to bed with the lamb , and rise with the lark.

MOTIVATION

Time is the basic unit of personal and social life , the concept of time is that the objective time construct-ed subjectively by the individual and society.

TargetHoping to bring diffireent logic of time to users, and experiencing sense of time which ancient people have, and then develop a different attitude towards life.

CONCEPT

Watches are developed by western people in the era of the indus-trial revolution, if thinking the timer by eastern logic, the concept of time of eastern people is that the time may not be a precise bound-aries, but feeling time by a “phenomenon”, and daily routine of tra-ditional Chinese agriculture society is influenced by sunrise and sunset, is an attitude in harmony with nature.

What I want to do is creating a new way to interpret time.Showing time with a phenome-non, to express the concept of time.And the method is to adjust the promotion of black and white colors which symbolize day and night to represent the change of time.
