'Specialising in the rescue and rehabilitation of wild moorland ponies from Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
All ponies receive the veterinary treatment and care that they require to get back to full health.
I think I should start my small President bit with a quick introduction! So….hello my name is David Langton and I am absolutely delighted to have accepted the offer to become President. It is both an honour and a privilege. I am looking forward to socialising with many club members, supporters and helpers in the coming years.
I have been lucky enough to have grown up a very short distance from Langton Park at the Rock Inn, Yelverton. I spent time here learning to ride push bikes (and motor bikes) as a young sprog, joined the youth ranks and enjoyed cricket under coach ‘Kev’ who I can still hear reminding me to ‘pitch the ball up’!
As I got older I spent a lot of time at the ground during my GCSE and AS Level study leave. It always seemed to be sunny in these breaks and going to the nets was a much better place to be rather than studying for exams!! One of my memories was of Len the groundsman. Just after having past my driving test and being the proud owner of a midnight blue Rover Metro, myself and a couple of friends decided to take a small break from revision and pop to the nets. Being the middle of the week the ground was deserted except for my car and Len in his small tractor going about his work. Despite the size of the Langton Park, Len somehow contrived to drive into the back of my solitary car! Both devastated and finding it highly amusing I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! I still to this day don’t know how he managed it!
I would like to wish luck and enjoyment to all teams for the coming season, in particular the juniors on who the future of the club depends.
As we look forward to the new season I would like to remember two famous cricketers. The first Phillip Hughes who was tragically struck by a cricket ball playing the game he loved. It is a reminder that all sport can be dangerous. But more importantly I think it showed the deep rooted camaraderie and mutual respect that cricketers have for each other, and is important for the continuity of clubs such as our own. It is a lesson to enjoy the game of cricket, win, lose or draw. But obviously to enjoy the pressure of trying to win, being an Aussie, Hughes epitomised this!! The second is Ritchie Benaud. To sign off I would like to steal one of his famous quotes:

Players will only be selected for matches or be allowed to take part in group coaching sessions if they are a paid member of the club AND have submitted a Player Profile Form.
To apply to become a member please fill out and return the ‘YBCC Colts Membership Form’ together with the ‘YBCC Colts Player Profile Form’ and enclose the relevant fee.
Team SelectionThe relevant age group Managers are responsible for the selection of the Academy teams. Selection will be based on a number of factors including, skill/ability, experience, attitude & behaviour along with discussions with the members of the Coaching Team. The Managers will seek to select a competitive, balanced team for each particular fixture. The squad sizes in each age group may also dictate that some players will play less games than others. At the U11 age group the ‘pairs’ format means that all players will bat & bowl. At the U13 & U15 age groups however, the nature of cricket means that in certain games some players may not bat or bowl.
Please inform the relevant manager of your child’s availability for matches.
Team Coaching SessionsGroup Coaching Sessions for the 2015 season will cost £40 for Under 9’s & 7’s and £50 for Under 11’s, 13’s and 15’s (does not include membership)
