Abstract

Purpose: This study was done to apply a PBL modulefor students' practice in maternity nursing. M ethod:Two PBL module scenarios were made for clinicalcases in antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartumnursing care. A total of 70 senior nursing students ofS university were enrolled in this module for theirscheduled 3 weeks of practice. A structuredquestionnaire and subjective statements were collectedfor evaluation. Result: The students' perceptions ofPBL were found to be effective in encouragingmotivation and interest in studying, absorbing practicalknowledge better, and learning through interaction withtutors. They became more confident, active, andpositive throughout the PBL experiences while a lackof time for learning was a limitation. Conclusion:PBL is considered a method that can strengthennursing students' abilities to adjust to clinical situationsin maternity areas. It is recommended to expand PBLin nursing practice courses and develop various

scenarios and qualified tutors.
