From the Pastor / Del Párroco
Queridos feligreses,
go y la libertad religiosa.
tro mundo.
Bendiciones de Pascua!
-Padre. Miguel
Dear Parishioners,
On Good Friday, as the Passion of Saint John was pro-
claimed, from the Cross Jesus said to the beloved
disciple, “here is your mother,” and to his mother,
“here is your son;” thus giving us the model of mis-
sionary disciple: that we care for one another. As we
journeyed through this Lenten Season, to Holy Week,
Good Friday; we have sought to become aware of our
own shortcomings, selfishness, and sinfulness. Not
so that we say, “I can’t change,” but rather, “because
of what Jesus did to change the world, I also can do.”
Jesus suffering and death changed the world. He
showed us the way: through giving of ourselves. May
the joy of Easter compel each one of us to look more
deeply at how we live the passion of Jesus in our daily
lives.
I believe an example of this kind of living is seen by
teen-agers throughout the country. A group of young
people who can’t vote, yet they are shaping a whole
new conversation about the reality of gun violence in
our country. They are calling for more sensible laws
concerning guns, particularly who should be privi-
leged to buy and carry them. They are thoughtful,
well spoken, and passionate about their beliefs. And
they are calling our government to represent them
and their views. I encourage all people to be more
‘passionate’ in a cause, a ministry.
I invite you to review our Archbishop’s pastoral letter,
We are One in Christ. He offers us a list of issues that
concern “the wellbeing of the person and the human
family, from the perspective of Christian Anthropology
and Catholic Social Doctrine -which I think serves as
springboard for each of us. These issues include:
abortion, plight of immigrants and refugees, racism,
the opioid crisis, gun violence, religious freedom. I
would add to these poverty, the imprisonment of mi-
norities, human trafficking, sexual abuse, environ-
mental concerns (global warming), animal abuse, the
extinction of species of animals, plants, etc. as hu-
mankind does as it wills to the planet. Not one of us
can take on each issue facing us, but as the body of
Christ, I believe that each person can become in one
concern facing us human beings and as Catholic
Christians. This is my point: live life with passion.
This is what makes life worth living. This is what we
celebrate at Easter: a man who lived life with passion
and through his passion, brought new life to our
world.
Easter Blessings!

Next week, our parish will take up a collection for the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa. While the Church in Africa is growing, many still lack access
to basic resources and pastoral care and are chal-lenged by high rates of poverty and unemployment, illiteracy, and poor education. The Solidarity Fund supports pastoral projects that strengthen their faith and foster lasting peace and reconciliation on a con-tinent often marked by division and tension.
La próxima semana, nuestra
parroquia llevará a cabo una

chos todavía no tienen acceso a recursos y a cuida-
