Basicideas
Fromaveryearlyagechildrenmakesounds,murmur,sing,movearoundanddanceinaverynaturalway.Theycommunicateintheir“musiclanguage”whichcanberegardedaspre-verbalcommunication.Astheygetolder,theydeveloptheirmothertongueusingthesepre-verbalmusicalelements.
Brainresearchinrecentyearshasconfirmedadeepandprofoundrelationshipbetweenmusicandlanguagelearning.Also,researchindicatesthatsmallchildrenarepre-disposedtolearningforeignlanguages.Moreover,listening,perceiving,imitating,andcreatingarebasicskillsinbothlanguageandmusic.
ThegoaloftheComeniusProject“EuropeanMusicPort-folio:ACreativeWayintoLanguages”istointegratemus-icalactivitiesinprimaryforeignlanguageeducation.Thislearningapproachcanreducelanguagebarriersandhelpsocialintegration.Itcanalsonurtureself-confidenceandself-expressionandimproveinterculturalunderstanding.
TheprojectwilldevelopaEuropeanMusicPortfoliotosupportearlyforeignlanguagelearning.However,astrongemphasisisplacedonthefactthatintegratingmusicandforeignlanguagelearningisbasedonanunderstandingofintegratedlearninginallsubjects.
Aimsoftheproject
TheEuropeanMusicPortfolioProject:benefitsyounglearners,primaryteachersandteachertrainers;trainsandsupportsprimaryteachersintheirforeignlanguageteachingskillsthroughmusicandmusicalactivities;supportsmusicallearningandtraining;motivatespupilstolearnlanguagesandmusicalskills;enhancescontinuingprofessionaldevelopmentandinitialprimaryteachertraininginteachertraininginstitutions;providestheopportunityforteachersfromdifferentcountriestolearnaboutotherEuropeancultures;
