I shall now recite the Nåsiàha-kavaca, formerlyspoken by Prahläda Mahäräja. It is most pious, vanquishes all kinds of impediments, and provides
one all protection.
It bestows upon one all opulences and can give oneelevation to the heavenly planets or liberation. Oneshould meditate on Lord Nåsiàhadeva, Lord of theuniverse, seated upon a golden throne.
His mouth is wide open, and He has three eyes. He isas radiant as the autumn moon. His left side isembraced by mother Lakñmédevé, and His form is theshelter of all opulences, both material and spiritual.
The Lord has four arms, and His limbs are very soft. Heis decorated with beautiful golden earrings. Hispowerful chest is resplendent like the lotus flower, and His arms are decorated with jewel-studdedornaments.
He is dressed in a spotless yellow garment, whichexactly resembles molten gold. He is the originalcause of existence, beyond the mundane sphere. He is the crowning glory of the demigods such asIndra, the king of heaven. He is bedecked withrubies which are blazingly effulgent.
His feet are very attractive, and He is armed withvarious weapons such as the conch, chakra, andother divine weapons. He is always filled with great
joy. Garuòa constantly offers Him humble prayerswith great reverence.
Having seated Lord Nåsiàhadeva upon the lotus ofone's heart, one should recite the following mantra:May Lord Nåsiàhadeva, who protects all theplanetary systems, please protect my head.
Although the Lord is all-pervading, He hid Himselfwithin a pillar. May He please protect my speechand the results of all my activities. May LordNåsiàhadeva, whose eyes are the sun, and fire, please protect my eyes.

This Kavaca-mantra is theking of all mantras. Oneattains by it what would beattained by anointing oneselfwith ashes and chanting allother mantras.
Having marked ones bodywith tilaka, taking acamanawith water, and reciting thismantra three times, one willfind that the fear of allinauspicious planets isremoved.
That person who recites this
mantra, while meditatingupon Lord Nåsiàhadeva, hasall of his diseases vanquished, including those of theabdomen.
Lord Nåsiàhadeva roarsloudly and causes others to
roar. With His multitudes ofarms He tears the demonsasunder and kills them in thisway. He is always seeking outand tormenting thedemoniac descendants ofDiti, both on this earth planetand in the higher planets, and He throws them downand scatters them. He crieswith great anger as Hedestroys the demons in alldirections, yet with Hisunlimited hands He sustains, protects, and nourishes theentire cosmic manifestation. Ioffer my respectfulobeisances to the Lord, whohas assumed the form of atranscendental lion.
Thus ends the Nåsiàha-
kavaca as it is described byPrahläda Mahäräja in theBrahmäëòa Puräëa.
