St. John the Baptist Parish 140 Pinaglabanan Street, San Juan City
BANAL NA SANTATLO – K (Kawikaan 8: 22-31; Roma 5: 1-5;
Juan 16: 12-15)
ni Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo
PAKSA: SA BANAL NA SANTATLO,
MAYROONG PAGTUTULUNGAN AT
PAGBIBIGAYAN
Sa Banal na Santatlo ay
mayroongpagtutulungan.
Natutunghayan ito sa Unang
Pagbasa (Kawikaan 8: 22-31) at sa
IkalawangPagbasa (Roma 5: 1-5).Sa
Unang Pagbasa, sinasagisag ng
Karunungan si Hesus, ang Diyos
Anak. Kaya, patungkol sa Diyos Ama
at Diyos Anak noong likhain ang
mundo, ganito ang sinasabi sa Unang
Pagbasa: “Nang ilagay niya ang
hangganan nitong dagat, nang
patibayan nitong mundong ay ilagay
at itatag, ako’y lagi niyang kasama
-2-
at katulong sa gawain.”Maliwanag
na sa paglikha ng mundo, mayroong
pagtutulungan sa Diyos Ama at Diyos
Anak.
Sa Ikalawang Pagbasa, ang
pagtutulungang ito ay hindi lamang
sa pagitan ng Diyos Ama at Diyos
Anak, kundi pati na rin sa Diyos
Espiritu Santo. Sinasabi sa Ikalawang
Pagbasa, “Sa pamamagitan ng
aniya’y (Panginoong Hesukristo)
tinatamasa natin ang kagandahang
loobng Diyos, at lubos tayong
nagagalak sa ating pag-asa na
makakasama sa kanyang
kaluwalhatian. Hindi tayo mabibigo
sa ating pag-asa, sapagkat ang pag-
ibig ng Diyos ay ibinuhos sa ating
mga puso sa pamamagitan ng
Espiritu Santo.
Sa mga salitang ito mula sa
IkalawangPagbasa,ating natungha-
yan ang pagtutulungan sa pagitan
ng Diyos Anak at Diyos Ama, at sa
pagitan ng Diyos Ama, at Diyos
Espiritu Santo. Ang Diyos Anak ay
tinulungan ang Diyos Ama na
matamasa ang katauhan ang
kanyang kagandahang loob. Ang
Diyos Ama ay tinulungan ng Diyos
Espiritu Santo na mabuhos sa
sangkatauhan ang kanyang pag-
ibig.
Sa Banal na Santatlo ay mayroon
hindi lamang ng pagtutulungan kundi
mayroon din pagbibigayan. Ito ay
matutunghayan sa Ebanghelyo (Juan
16:12-15). Bagama’t ang Diyos Ama,
Diyos Anak, at Diyos Espiritu Santo ay
nagkakaiba, sila ay iisa at
nagkakaisa sapagkat sila ay may
pagbibigayan sa isa’t isa.Unang-una,
mayroon pagbibigayan sapagitan ng
Diyos Anak at Diyos Espiritu Santo. Sa
Ebanghelyo, sinabi ng ating
Panginoon sa kanyang mga alagad,
“Marami pa akong sasabihin sa inyo,
ngunit hindi pa ninyo kayang
unawain ngayon. Pagdating ng
Espiritu ng katotohanan, tutulungan
niya kayo upang maunawaan ninyo
ang buong katotohanan. ”Hindi
sinolo ng Panginoon ang pagsasabi
ng katotohanan. Pinagbigyan niya
ang Espiritu Santo para makatulong
din sa kanyang mga alagad para
maunawaan ang buong
katotohanan. Kaya maliwanag na
mayroong pagbibigayan sa pagitan
ng Diyos Anak at Diyos Espiritu.
Ikalawa, mayroong pagbibigayan
sapagitan ng Diyos Ama at Diyos
Anak. Sa Ebanghelyo, sinabi ng
Panginoon, “Ang lahat ng sa Ama ay
akin.” Hindi makapagsasabi ang
Panginoong Hesus na ang lahat ng sa
Ama ay sa kanya kung ang Diyos
Ama ay hindi mapagbigay sa kanya.
-3-
Ama. Kung hindi mapagbigay ang
Diyos Ama hindi maipapahayag ng
Diyos Espiritu Santo ang buong
katotohanan. Kaya maliwanag na
mayroong pagbibigayan sa pagitan
ng Diyos Ama at Diyos Espiritu Santo.
Ito ang diwa ng pagbibigayan na
ating nakikita sa Diyos Ama, Diyos
Anak, at Diyos Espiritu Santo.
MGA KAPATID, KUNG TAYO AY
MAPAGBIGAY, MAYROONG PAGBIBI-
GAYAN SA ISA’T ISA AT KUNG TAYO
AY MAY PAGTUTULUNGAN SA ISA’T
ISA, ITO AY NANGANGAHULUGAN NA
ISINASABUHAY NATIN ANG DIWA NG
IISANG DIYOS, ANAK AT ESPIRITU
SANTO.
AT KUNG ISINASABUHAY NATIN ANG
DIWA NG PAGBIBIGAYAN AT
PAGTUTULUNGAN NA NAKIKITA NATIN
SA IISANG DIYOS AMA, ANAK AT
ESPIRITU SANTO MAYROONG KABU-
LUHAN ANG ATING PAGDIRIWANG
NG KANILANG DAKILANG KAPISTA-
HAN DAHIL BUHAY NA BUHAY SA ATIN
ANG IISANG DIYOS AMA, ANAK AT
ESPIRITU SANTO.

The Anticipated Sunday Mass held at
Little Baguio Terraces on Saturday,
May 14, 2016 was celebrated by
Msgr. Nestor Cerbo, the Parish Priest
of St. John the Baptist Parish (SJBP).
The Little Baguio Terraces Anticipated
Mass had been needing volunteers
with music talent. Lately, it has been
blessed with volunteers, Crisman
Buela and Milan Sansait, who are now
members of the Choir. Crisman, a
resident of Little Baguio Terraces,
plays violin while Milan is studying in
CEU taking up dentistry but loves
music. They both belong to CEU
Chorale. Aaron Estrada who is from St.
John the Baptist has been practicing
with them. At first, he accompanied
the mass songs using the keyboard
but lately he has been using guitar
because the keyboard is not
available anymore.

St. John the Baptist Parish (SJBP) Staff
Meeting was held on Saturday, May
14, 2016, at 5:00 P.M., at Parish Office
Meeting Room.
The Staff Meeting was a follow-up on
the BEC Meeting held the previous
Wednesday, May 11, 2016. During the
meeting, Msgr. Nestor Cerbo, SJBP
Parish Priest, discussed the Code of
Discipline for Parish Personnel.
-6-
He pointed out the Code of Discipline
is actually the Good Manners and
Right Conduct that the Parish
Personnel should have in dealing with
their Superiors and Fellow Personnel.
The said Good Manners and Right
Conduct are vital in maintaining
good relationship with one another.
With Good Manners and Right
Conduct, the Parish Personnel will
make their workplace enjoyable
place to work and above all a place
where they give witness to Gospel
values and above all to Christ. In
other words, when the parishioners
come to be helped in their needs,
they encounter Christ in each of the
Parish Personnel, whether he or she is
a Secretary , or a Cashier, or a
Bookkeeper, or a Janitor, or a
Security Guard, or Adoration Chapel
Watcher or a Priest.

On May 15, 2016 Pentecost Sunday,
BEC Pasadena together with the
Barangay council, its sponsors and
the people in the barangay
celebrated the Fiesta of its Patroness,
Nuestra Senora de Salvacion or Our
Lady of Salvation. Msgr. Nestor Cerbo,
the Parish Priest of St. John the Baptist
Parish, was the mass presider. The
said mass started at 8:00 A.M. in
Barangay Pasadena Plaza.
In his homily, Msgr. Cerbo related
what Sis. Pina Gonzales, Pasadena
BSL told him about Nuestra Señora de
Salvacion, one of the titles of Mama
Mary. She became the patron saint of
BEC Pasadena when long time ago a
strong rain came and the water level
in the river rose and consequently
submerging the houses in the
barangay. However, the residents
were greatly surprised to see that the
chapel where the image of Our Lady
of Salvation was enshrined was not
submerged by the flood in spite of the
fact that it was of the same level as
the houses.
Truly, Mama Mary, Our Lady of
Salvation showed that if we pray
through her intercession, we can be
saved in times of calamities and
-7-
danger. When the people heard this
story, they agreed with what BSL of
Pasadena said. From then on, the
residents always prayed to Our Lady
of Salvation in times of storms and
every time they prayed to her, the
storm did not leave too much
damage on the people.
Taking this into mind, Msgr. Cerbo
exhorted the mass goers to be
thankful to Nuestra Señora de
Salvacion and one way to give
thanks to her is by being faithful to our
commitments or promises. Ang ating
mga pangako ay hindi dapat
napapako kundi lagi natin inaako. All
of us who have commitment to the
Lord to keep holy the Lord’s day can
thank him by going to mass every
Sunday. The married couples who
have promised to love each other
can thank the Lord by being faithful to
that promise to the end, etc.
After the fiesta mass there was a
blessing of motorcycles and religious
items. The Hermana invited Msgr.
Cerbo, the BEC Pasadena choir and
all those who served in the mass to
have breakfast fellowhip. Because of
the Fiesta mass, the people who
attended the mass remembered how
Nuestra Señora de Salvacion saved
the barangay and will always be
thankful to the Mother of our Savior
Jesus Christ. --By: Herwin Fortuno

The 9:30 A.M. Pentecost Sunday Mass
at St. John the Baptist Parish (SJBP) on
May 15, 2016 began with the
entrance procession of the twelve
BEC of the Parish: BEC Balong Bato;
BEC Batis; BEC Corazon de Jesus; BEC
Isabelita; BEC Pasadena; BEC Pedro
Cruz; BEC Progreso; BEC Rivera; BEC
Salapan; BEC San Perfecto; BEC St.
Joseph; and BEC Tibagan.
The processional entrance of the BEC
at the start of the Pentecost Sunday
Mass has been the traditional way of
celebrating the birthday of the
Church in SJBP.
In his homily, Msgr. Nestor Cerbo,
SJBP Parish Priest, suggested a more
meaningful celebration of the
Birthday of the Church on Pentecost
Sunday. It is through the birth of a
new cell or two in each of the twelve
BEC in SJBP. Msgr. Cerbo said, “I look
forward to the next year’s celebration
of the Birthday of the Church on
Pentecost Sunday with the birth of
-8-
one or two cells in each of the twelve
BEC in SJBP.”
That was enormous challenge to all
the BEC but with Holy Spirit, nothing is
impossible!

The Annual Parish Staff Outing of St.
John the Baptist Parish (SJBP) took
place at Palm Beach, Laiya, San
Juan, Batangas.
The Parish Staff was joined by the SJBP
Catechists, first time ever in the history
of Parish Staff Outing. The Finance
Council also joined as in the past.
The outing was free wheeling. The
Parish Staff, the Catechists and the
Finance Council members were free
to enjoy the facilities of the Palm
Beach Resort on their preferred time.
They swam on the beach, they had a
dip in the pool, they had a water
massage at the jacuzzi; they played
beach volleyball; they had snorkeling
experience; they spent more time on
bed resting; they read the books they
had long wanted to read and most of
all enjoyed the delectable meals and
snacks.

With this annual rest and recreation,
the Parish Staff, the Catechists and
the Finance Council were in a way
charged again to serve the Lord and
his people in St. John the Baptist

Naging masungit man ang panahon,
natuloy pa rin ang ika-7 at huling
bahagi ng BEC Orientation na
ginanap sa loob ng parokya noong
Mayo 18, 2016.
Sa panimula ng panayam ni Bro.
Tatang Mendoza, sandali niyang
binalikan at pinag-ugnay-ugnay ang
anim na nagdaang paksa, hanggang
sa makarating sa panghuling paksa
ng gabing iyon, “Ang Pamumuno,
Pamamahala, at Pagbubuklod ng
mga BEC.”
Paulit-ulit din niyang binigyang diin
ang pagsusuma ng kahulugan ng
BEC bilang “mga Maliliit na Pulutong
ng Organisadong Pamilyang
Magkakapitbahay na nagsisikap
magsabuhay ng Pagiging
Simbahan.” Nais niyang tumanim sa
-13-
isip ng bawat isa ang kahulugan na
ito, gayun din ang misyon ng mga
BEC bilang Asin, Ilaw, at Lebadura sa
kapitbahayan, pamayanan, parokya,
at lipunan.
Sa pagtatapos ng panayam ng
gabing iyon, pinasalamatan ng ating
Kura Paroko, Msgr. Nestor Cerbo si
Bro. Tatang Mendoza sa kanyang
pagbabahagi ng kaalaman ukol sa
BEC. Nagkaroon din ng mini-
graduation kung saan
ginantimpalaan ang mga cell groups
na nakakuha ng pinka-mataas na
attendance. Nagkaroon din ng
karampatang gantimpala ang mga
cell groups na nakakuha ng
pinakamatataas na marka sa mga
pagsusulit.
Nawa ang mga karagdagang
kaalaman na natutunan ng bawat isa
ay tunay na maging kasangkapan
para sa tuluy-tuloy na pagyabong ng
pinagpanibagong simbahan – ANG
BEC sa ating parokya!
