Overview (Sales Points) On-site images Ichinoseki is known as the
Town of Mochi, and long ago, every household had a mortar and
mallet or pestle for pounding the mochi. For a pestle, a
“Senbongine,” or a long pestle which can be held by several people,
is used. There are also mallets and pestles which children can use,
and mochi dough pounding is a popular attraction at children’s
group meetings and local events. After the mochi is pounded, you
can eat it with 5 different kinds of syrup on it.

coordinator with extensive knowledge of lacquer and lacquerware in
the local scene guides participants through the undeveloped urban
woodlands where trees to make lacquer are grown. And, while
interacting with the craftsmen at a workshop who make the
lacquerware, participants try their hand at making lacquerware. For
lunch, participants savor regional cuisine at a local restaurant

Overview (Sales Points) On-site images Vegetables growing under the
snow are harvested near Lake Inawashiro in Aizu. The harvested
vegetables are cabbage and carrots, and they are dug up from about
50cm under the snowfields which the area looks out onto. The pale
green cabbage and orange carrots reveal themselves and then are
sampled in the local area. They are surprisingly sweet, and once
you’ve tasted them, you’ll want more. After harvesting the
vegetables, you can enjoy eating them and local cuisine in a
structure built utilizing the remains of a local schoolhouse. The
area is famous for its omochi pounded rice cakes and we strongly
encourage you to try them. In addition, the area which is near
Inawashiro is well known for its heavy snowfall and, especially
from early to mid-March, the packed snow becomes hard enabling you
to stroll along the snowfields (depending on the condition of the
weather and other factors). Strolling along the snowfields which
sprawl out over the flatlands here is very refreshing. We highly
recommend taking a stroll along the snowfields, following the
tracks left by the wild animals, something which you cannot do
during the green season.

workshop and seminar on yakuzen (medicinal cooking) and Chinese
medicine, approx. 1 hr. is allotted for the meal.
Min. no. participants: 10; Max. 30 (Please consult us.)
Overview (Sales Points) On-site images It is said that the
nutritional value of vegetables on the market today has decreased
compared to about 50 years ago. But, amid this, what have not
changed are the countryside food ingredients (wildflowers, edible
wild plants, and mushrooms) being raised in the Mother Nature
environment of the Northern Alps. Among the countryside ingredients
still found only in the undeveloped woodland areas growing on the
edges between the untouched great outdoors and the cities and towns
are large quantities of medicinal herbs used as ingredients for
traditional Chinese medicine. This is a program which brings
together the handiwork for the Hakuba-grown vegetables and
countryside ingredients, which are said to have high nutritional
value due to the different in temperatures between morning and
evening, and the health of everybody’s body and soul. Workshops
& Seminars Making of yakuzen medicinal tea using Hakuba edible
flowers of the Hakuba foothills and herbal medicine ingredients for
traditional Chinese medicine. A check of one’s physical conditions
based on Chinese medicine and advice regarding meals and
traditional Chinese geared towards individual physical conditions,
as well as a moxibustion therapy experience. A workshop to examine
one’s physical conditions and disposition based on the Theory of
Yin-Yang and the Five Elements. Etc. For each season, there will
be: •Hands-on harvesting experience of locally-grown countryside
ingredients •Making of floral water using Hakuba-grown
spicebush
and other activities (separate charges apply) French de Yakuzen
•Adapt and arrange as French cuisine cooking prepared based on
theories about the
winter-time practice of eating meat of animals such as boar and
deer to ward off cold as it pertains to yakuzen medicinal cooking
and as part of traditional Chinese medicine. •Introduced will be
common mugwort, day lily, common purslane, Asian plantain and
other medicinal herbs (herbal medicine) growing wild in the Hakuba
foothills of the Shinshu Northern Alps. French cuisine is prepared
by the chef, Masanori Hara. The seminar instructor is Mineri
Yamamoto. She is a locally-born pharmacist who is also an
international specialist on traditional Chinese medicine accredited
by the Chinese government and works in a traditional Chinese
medicine pharmacy. Setsuko Kitazawa, a coordinator of countryside
ingredients qualified as a “junior vegetable sommelier,” will
present healthy teas made with countryside ingredients and edible
flowers according to the season and other items as well as act as a
cooking advisor.

can use a sunken fireplace to enjoy local food produced using the
hot springs, in an eco-friendly old private house which also warms
the floors with the hot springs’ heat
First, after enjoying an aperitif (Osborne Sherry) in a snow hut,
you change locations to a sunken fireplace warmed by the floors
heated by the hot springs. Then you sit around the fireplace and
enjoy charcoal-grilled food made from local ingredients utilizing
the hot springs. Available as beverages are specially-selected
local Japanese saké and wine as well as non-alcoholic drinks. Foot
baths and face baths are also available, which you can enjoy
experiencing anytime you wish. Since long ago, old private houses
in the snow country have had sunken fireplaces which are used as a
place for cooking, eating, discussing, and as a stove for warming
and drying. A characteristic of the fireplace is that there are

Overview (Sales Points) On-site images With as much as 5m of snow
in a single winter, Tokamachi is in a heavy snow region with one of
the heaviest snowfalls in the world. Why don’t you experience ways
of enjoying the snow and life in the region which are unique to the
snow country? On this tour, you can enjoy playing in the snow with
a snowmobile on an expansive field completely rented out for this
purpose, something which you can only do because this is an area
with heavy snowfall. You can also trek over the snow in the
undeveloped woodlands in snowshoes and collect maple syrup, as well
as partake in “café time” activities baking pancakes on the snow.
In addition, you will be able to make snow country food together
with mothers in the area, go barhopping together with a local guide
to out-of- the-way pubs, and enjoy traditional snow country cuisine
as well as local saké and beer. You will definitely be able to
enjoy the authentic snow country culture to its fullest in this
beautiful winter wonderland! This is a private tour with a single

Overview (Sales Points) On-site images This is the premium version
of Maze E-Bike Tour. Same as the regular one, the tour concept is
exploring the hidden part of Takayama area by cool electric bikes
to see and understand the authentic rural Japan. There are 2 key
differences from the standard tour. First, it is one group only for
a day. Second, lunch is Kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese
meal) and farm experience included. You pick some fruit or
vegetable and catch stream fish with local people, and the local
ryokan makes the beautiful Japanese meal with the ingredients. No
exaggeration to say, it must be the most memorable moment of your
trip in Japan. Please do not miss the opportunity!

Overview (Sales Points) On-site images This is the half version of
Maze E-Bike Tour. Starting at the Hida- Hagiwara station, we will
directly head for the scenic valley village: Maze Village, which is
certified as one of the most beautiful villages in Japan. Same as
the full day tour, we need to go up the mountain road but please do
not worry. We use Panasonic’s electric bikes. If you are capable of
normal ones, it is also easy to handle e-bikes. The village has a
lot of unspoiled views such as forests, rice fields and the crystal
river called Maze River: the highlight of tour. 2 options are
available, starting from 9:00am and 1:30pm. If you visit Takayama
or Gero to see the beauty of nature in the rural Japan, this tour
