How to Get on a Bus by IC Cards

1. Get on the bus from the entrance. 2. Tap the card reader on the right side at the entrance with your IC card and
confirm the beep sound.
3. Push any button near youwhen the bus is approaching to
your bus stop.
4. Tap the card reader near the driver and confirm the beep sound. You can’t top-up your card in the bus. Use ticket machines at JR or Nankai stations.
Major IC Cards (Suica, ICOCA, PiTaPa, PASMO etc.) are Accepted.
(No need to take a ticket as bus stop you get on is recorded into
your IC card automatically.)
How to Get on a Bus by CashEntranceExit
1. Get on the bus from the entrance. 2. Take a ticket from the machine. Your fare will be determined by the number on the ticket
3. Push any button near youwhen the bus is approaching to
your bus stop.
4. Find your fare from the table in the front, and put the exact amount of fare and your
ticket into the box next to the driver.

Tips to Use Buses• Ask the bus driver to inform you when the bus arrives at KURRI or your destination. Japanese sentences
included in the last page of this pdf may help you since bus drivers generally don’t speak English.
• Many KURRI staff members (researchers, students etc.) also use the same buses to commute. They are sure to help you.
• The ticket may not be issued at the starting bus stop as the highest fare is always applied to the passengers from the starting bus stop.
• Prepare small changes prior to getting on the bus. There is a money changer near the driver, but it accepts only1000 yen bill, not larger bills (5000 yen, 10000 yen).
• IC cards accepted at local buses are: ICOCA, PiTaPa, Suica, PASMO, Kitaca, icsca, mamaca, TOICA, nimoca, SUGOCA, はやかけん, なっち
• You can’t top-up your IC card in local buses. Use the ticket machines at train stations of JR and Nankai railways.
• JR pass and credit cards are not accepted at local buses around Osaka.
