Modernisierung / Austausch von Anwendungen mit dem Ziel erhöhter Automation
IT Transformation
• Langfristig wartbare Software
• Hoher Aufwand für Prozessanalyse, Implementierung, Integration der Umsysteme und Migration der Daten• Hohe Investionskosten• Lange Projektlaufzeit (mehrere Jahre) mit hohem Umsetzungs-Risiko

Geschäftsprozesse steuern und automatisierenBusiness Process Management
• Business Process Management (BPM) ist ein Ansatz für die Analyse, Verbesserung und Steuerung von operativen Geschäftsprozessen
• Bestehende Systeme werden über Service-Schnittstellenintegriert
• Für welche Prozesse geeignet?• End-to-End Prozesse
• Hohes Mengengerüst
• Systemübergreifend
• Zahlreiche Schnittstellen und Zuständigkeiten
• Mit welchen Zielen?• Effizienz
• Automatisierung
• Qualität
• Standards
• Flexibilität
• Transparenz
• Hoher Integrationsaufwand (Bereitstellung Schnittstellen)• Hoher interner IT-Ressourcenbedarf• Relativ lange Umsetzungszyklen (Monate – Jahre)• Relativ späte Amortisation

• Prozesse werden (geringfügig) angepasst, Know How wird an Externe übertragen
• Für welche Prozesse geeignet?• Standard -Support-Prozesse (HR,
Finance, Accounting,…)

Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

EOAR – Our methodology for selecting the right processes
Can you robotize the process? For the success of RPA the selection of suitable business processes is crucial - the more criteria is met, the more promising RPA is

Lessons Learned
§ RPA promises a new and better world but the real potential is sometimes hard for people to grasp
Ø Aim for quick results, capture successes and look for ambassadors in the organization
Automation multiplies inefficiencies
§ Automating processes with RPA can typically be done very quickly but oftentimes results in a 1:1 representation of the current world (and their inefficiencies
Ø Stabilize and optimize your processes prior to applying RPA
RPA is not the silver bullet
§ RPA is an efficiency driver and allows for an easy automation, yet there may be more adequate tools and methodologies than RPA
Ø Make sure to use the EOAR approach and only use RPA where sensible
Black/white only looks good on photos
§ Although there are simple criteria to identify suitable processes for RPA it may show that automating all possible variance is just not economically feasible
Ø Go for 80:20 and use high-skilled employees to handle exceptions
Business first….but consider IT!
§ RPA is flexible and easy to use. As such easily remediates the typical “IT bottleneck”. Still, IT is vital, e.g. for Infra, Security, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Ø Early involve IT but aim for RPA initiatives driven by the business areas
Seeing is believing
• Prozesse erst optimieren, dann automatisieren
