Year 11: Te Tunu Kai
Hei mahi kōrero (speaking task)Write a script for a TV show in te reo Māori. Ka tunu kai koe! You could cook a parehe (Pizza) or pihikete/ keke (biscuits/ cake). Kōwhiritia tētahi momo kai pai ki a koe (choose a type of food/ recipe that you like).
You are on a cooking show on Māori TV, you may complete this on your own or in pairs you will demonstrate to us how to follow a recipe that involves several steps, not just heating up a can of baked beans!
This is a Te Reo cooking show for children aged 10-16 years, so your instructions and actions need to be clear and entertaining. The cooking part could be a dialogue between 2 people, if working in a pairs you both must take turns speaking. Or you can be speaking directly to the camera.
Use the sentence structures in this workbook, and other structures we have covered in class. Take your time to write a script, and practice it. Then you are ready to cook! Ask someone in your whānau to record the video for you. If you are able to edit parts of the video later, that would be great. Kia ū ki te reo Māori! You will speak in te reo Māori. Kātahi, ka kai koutou ko tō whānau! Then, you and your whānau can eat your kai! Mauri ora! Bon appetite!
Tuatahi : Decide what you would like to cook. Tuarua: Tuhia tētahi rārangi kai. (write an ingredients list). Do you have these ingredients at home? Or do you need to ask your whānau if you can buy some.
Tuatoru: Kimihia ēnei kupu tūmahi/ Find these verbs (refer to verb list)
GrateSprinkleChopSpread outMixFryWashRip/ tearAddCookWarm upPourstir
Tuawha: Work through the tasks in workbook. Before you begin writing your script.
Tuarima: Begin writing your script, and practice it out loud.
Tuaono: Send a draft copy through to your kaiako, so they can give you feedback.
Tuawhitu: Hangaia te ataata! Rapua te ataata! Film it! Aim to do this without reading words, kōrero mai!
