Summary: Axel picked up the parchment and tried to arrange the

letters. So that they formed Latin words but he still couldn't make any sense of it. While he was sitting in front of the window, he saw the back and the front of the parchment. Suddenly he saw

some Latin words which he knew. These words were meant "a crater of the Earth". In this way he had broken the secret code and managed to understand all of it.

الحروف يرتب أن وحاول الورقه أكسيل أمسك زال ما ولكنه التينيه كلمات الحروف كونت ولذلك

أكسيل كان لها. وبينما معنى اى فهم يستطيع ال األماميه الجهه و الخلفيه رأى النافذه، أمام جالس

الكلمات بعض رأى انه المفاجأه فكانت للورقه الكلمات هذه يعرفها. كانت كان التى الالتينيه

أكسيل فك الطريقه األرض" وبهذه "فوهة تعنىبأكملها. الرساله يفهم ان واستطاع الشفره

Axel wanted to hide that he broke the secret message from his uncle because he thought that if his uncle read the parchment, he would do what its writer did. Axel was afraid to tell his uncle this matter because professor would want to take Axel with him. They would never return to Hamburg. So Axel decided to stop his uncle from reading the parchment.

الشفره فك انه عمه على اخفاء أكسيل أراد بذلك عمه علم اذا انه إعتقد النه السريه للرساله

كاتب فعله بما يقوم أن الممكن من ، الورقه وقرأ أكسيل الورقه. فكان هذا بشأن عمه إلخبار خائفا

يأخذ أن الممكن من كان البروفيسور ألن األمر يعودون ال سوف انهم أكسيل معه. إعتقد أكسيل

منع أكسيل قرر لذلك ، هامبورج الى أخرى مرهالورقه. قراءة عن عمه

Axel wanted to burn the parchment, but the door opened and his uncle appeared while he was just going to burn it. There was

no lunch or breakfast and Axel was very hungry. So he decided to tell his uncle about his discovery, and he could stop his uncle from making such a dangerous thing.

Axel told his uncle that the secret message said "Go down into the crater of Sneffels which the shadow of Scartaris touches before July. Then you'll reach to the centre of the Earth. I have done this. Arne

Saknussemm".

After his uncle knew that, he decided to pack his box and told axel to back his box also. Professor brought the Atlas and showed Axel the places Arne had written about in the map of Iceland. They saw the Sneffels which was a huge mountain nearly two thousands meters high. Axel tried to tell his uncle that the journey would be very dangerous, but he wouldn't listen.

When Axel told his uncle that this mountain is a volcano, and they would die of the heat of its centre. His uncle replied that Sneffels was an extinct volcano, it hadn't erupted since 1229, now it was quite cold. It had several craters, only one led to the Earth. The mountain Scartaris casts its shadow over this crater at the end of June. Finally, professor told Axel that they should go there and see for themselves, and they left to Iceland the day after tomorrow.

عن عباره الجبل هذا بأن عمه أكسيل أخبر عندما هذا مركز حرارة من يموتون سوف انهم و بركان

الجبل Axel and his uncle prepared for their journey

and they took guns, tools and scientific instruments. Martha, their cook was surprised when she knew that they were going down to the Centre of the Earth. She thought that the professor was mad. When Martha asked Axel about their journey, he pointed down towards the Centre of the Earth. But Martha thought they were going to the cellar.

وأخذوا برحلتهم للقيام وعمه أكسيل أعد كانت علميه. ولكن وأجهزه وأدوات بنادق معهم علمت عندما مندهشه لهم، الخاصه الطباخه مارثا، األرض. مركز الى األسفل الى ذاهبين أنهم

مجنون. وعندما البروفيسور أن مارثا إعتقدت أكسيل أشار رحلتهم عن أكسيل مارثا سألت انهم مارثا إعتقدت ولكن األرض، مركز الى أسفل

المخزن. الى ذاهبون

They set off on their journey and traveled by the steamer to Copenhagen, and from there they sailed north to Iceland. In Copenhagen, they met a Danish scientist who gave them letters of introduction to the most important men in Iceland. One of them was Dr Fridrickson.

الى بالباخره وسافروا رحلتهم فى إنطلقوا أبحروا هناك ومن كوبنهاجن أيسلندا. الى شماال

أعطاهم دانماركى عالم قابلوا كوبنهاجن فى فى أهميه الرجال أكثر الى توصيه خطاباتفريدريكسون. الدكتور منهم كان أيسلندا،

The sea was very rough and professor was seasick for most of the voyage. They arrived in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland but the professor didn't want to explore Reykjavik and said that the most interesting part of Iceland was under the ground.

هائج البحر كان مصاب البروفيسور وكان جدا عاصمة الى الرحله. وصلوا معظم البحر بدوار

البروفيسور يريد لم ولكن"Reykjavik" أيسلندا أيسلندا من شيق جزء أكثر أن وقال إستكشافها

األرض. تحت هو They went to Dr Fridrickson who was a very

helpful man. Professor told him that he was interested in exploring Iceland's geology. Dr Fridrickson gave them information about Sneffels. He arranged for a guide called Hans to take them to Sneffels. They liked Hans who was a big man who moved slowly and didn't say much.

فريدريكسون الدتكور الى وعمه أكسيل ذهب متعاونه شخصيه كان التى معهم. أخبره جدا

جيولوجية بإستكشاف مهتم أنه البرفيسور معلومات فريدريكسون دكتور أيسلندا. أعطاهم

هانس يدعى مرشد لهم ورتب" Sneffels" عن هانس أحبوا وعمه . أكسيل"Sneffels" الى ليأخذهم

ببطء يتحرك كبير رجل عن عباره كان الذىقليال. ويتحدث

Hans led them out of Reykjavik and passed through the countryside. The Icelanders were always pleased to see them, they gave them the best food and drink and they refused professor's offers of money. After three more days they reached the base of Sneffels. Because of Axel's fears, he had a terrible dream. He dreamed that he was inside a volcano. There was a great explosion and he was shot up out the volcano like a rocket.

"Reykjavik" مدينة خارج الى هانس قادهم أيسلندا جزيرة سكان الريف. كان خالل وعبروا

وقدموا وعمه أكسيل لرؤية السرور غاية فى دائما رفضوا ولكنهم والمشروبات األطعمه أفضل لهم

ثالثة البروفيسور. بعد عليهم عرضها التى النقود وبسب" Sneffels" قاعدة الى وصلوا أخرى أيام

كان مزعج حلم نومه أثناء شاهد أكسيل، مخاوف إنفجار هناك بركانوكان داخل كان أنه عن عباره البركان خارج الى قذف أكسيل أن عنه نتج عظيم

الصاروخ. مثل They climbed Sneffels in the next day and

reached the top of the mountain. They camped at the edge of the crater. They were more than one thousand five hundred metres above sea level. The three men "professor – Axel – Hans" entered the crater of Sneffels which was shaped like an ice-cream cone. The opening was more than A kilometer wide and it was about six hundred metres deep. They used ropes and were standing at the bottom of the crater.

ووصلوا"Sneffels" تسلقوا التالى اليوم وفى فوهة حافة على عسكروا ذلك وبعد الجبل قمة الى

فوق متر1500 ارتفاع على فكانوا البركان فوهة رجال الثالثة البحر. دخلوا سطح مستوى مثلجات عن عباره شكله كان التى البركان

كيلو من أكثر الفتحه عرض الشكل. كان مخروطية الحبال متر. استخدموا600 حوالى وعمقها متر

الفوهه. أسفل فى واستراحوا وجلسوا At the bottom there were three chimneys.

Each of these was about thirty metres wide. They started to explore them, and then professor shouted pointing to a large rock with some marks on it. The marks were letters and they spelled the name of Arne Saknussemm.

أسفل فى جبليه شقوق ثالثة هناك كان متر30 حوالى عرضه كان منهم كل البركان،

صرخ ذلك الشقوق. بعد هذة تفجير فبدؤا بعض عليها كبيره صخره الى يشير وهو البرفيسور

Arne"اسم تكون حروف كانت التى العالماتSaknussemm ".

They had to discover which of the three chimneys Arne had descended. It was the chimney which the shadow of Scartaris touched at the end of June, but there was no shadow today because there was no sun. It was June 25th so, they had to wait until the end of June.

الثالثة من أى يكتشفوا أن عليهم يجب كان الذى هو الجبلى الشق ارن. هذا فيها نزل شقوق

Summary: The three men followed the eastern

passage for three days. They were so tired because the path was going up not down. Also the rocks were different. They were walking through younger rocks, where plants and animals were preserved in the rocks.

Axel showed his uncle the shell of an insect preserved in the rock which he picked up, then the professor said that they made a mistake and took the wrong path. They continued to follow the eastern passage and passed through walls of cool. Bit after two days they came to a blank wall. They had to go back to the crossroads and take the western passage.

داخل محتجزه كانت حشره أكسيل التقط انهم البروفيسور قال حينئذ لعمه، وأراها الصخور فى فإستمروا الخطأ الممر فى وساروا أخطأوا

خالل وعبروا الشرقى الممر فى المسير إتباع وصلوا يومين مرور بعد الفحم. ولكن من حوائط

عليهم يلزم كان لذلك نمفذبه، ال حيث حائط الى الرجوع الممر فى والسير الطرق مفترق الى خلفاالغربى.

After three days, they reached the crossroads. Axel was tired and very thirsty. He had finished the water in his bottle and felt to the ground. But after professor gave him drops of water to make him better, Axel said they had to go back. Professor promised him that if they didn't find water in the western passage, they would go back together.

أيام ثالثة مرور بعد الطرق مفترق الى وصلوا أكسيل وعطشان. إستنفذ متعب أكسيل كان حيث على وسقط زجاجته فى معه كان الذى الماء

The passage led down through older rocks. Axel heard a noise which was a noise of running water. Somewhere on the other side of the wall of rock there was an underground river. Hans had made a large hole in the wall by using a pickaxe for an hour. A strong jet of water burst out of the wall of the rock. It was so strong that it knocked Hans down. Hans cried out in pain because the water was almost boiling. The open air made it cool down and the three men drank. It tasted better than any water they had ever tasted before.

الممر كان قديمه صخور عبر ألسفل نازال الضوضاء هذه فكانت ضوضاء صوت أكسيل وسمع

ما مكان فى هناك وكان جاريه، لمياه صوت هى

تحت نهر الصخرى الحائط من األخرى الناحيه فى فى كبير ثقب هانس (جوفى) فصنع األرض ساعه. فانفجرت لمدة البلطه بإستخدام الحائط صنعه التى الثقب من القوه شديدة مياه نافورة األرض. صرخ على إلقاؤه فى وتسببت هانس حرارتها تصل كانت المياه ألن األلم من هانس جعل الطلق الهواء ولكن الغليان درجة الى تقريبا مذاق رجال. كان الثالثة فشرب بروده أكثر المياه

قبل. من تذوقوها مياه أى من أفضل المياه هذه The underground river would run beside

them as they descended. It would show them the quickest way down. This made Axel more eager to continue the journey. Professor told Axel one day that they were two hundred kiometres west of their starting point or they were under the Atlantic Ocean. Axel felt a pain in his ear because of the increased air pressure. Professor asked him to breathe quickly to relieve the pressure.

The three men walked in silence. Axel was in front of Hans and the professor carrying the

torch. Axel turned to speak to his uncle but he didn't find him or Hans. He was alone. He waited for a quarter of an hour, but there was no sign of them.

following the river, but the rocks were dry. He walked upwards for half an hour, but he hit a rock wall and fell down. The torch dropped and was broken. Axel lay in a complete darkness. He ran back down the path waving his arms and shouting like a mad man. He ran against the rocks and cut himself. At last he fell on the floor and fainted.
