CONTENTFirst, I will give a brief introduction about my presentation. The app I want to share is The Paper, whose Chinese name is 澎湃新闻 . I will give three sections to talk about the app.

PART ONE IntroductionIn this part, I will give you a brief introduction about what The Paper is and how it looks like.

1The Paper is a news app developed in 2014, focusing on political news, which welcomes different views and pays more attention to give object comments and answer readers’ questions. There are six main parts in this app—Politics, Business, Insight, Life, Interview and My paper. (As what is shown by right→ ）Also, In different parts, it has more detailed sections to give specific knowledge and information.

Politics NewsThere are 22 sections (as shown by the circle→)in this part, which indicates the most important part in The Paper is about the politics. There are different focuses within these 22 sections. Let’s have a look at some examples.

This section is specially about Chinese combat corruption. In this section, you can find all combat corruption news made by The Paper.

In this section, it will show government officials transferring news within different provinces and cities.

As we all know that Shanghai, Zhejiang Province and Jiangsu Province are an economical combination in China. This section is news located in this area.

In this section, there are news about Taiwan and Hong Kong, including social news, criminal news, military affairs and etc.

Business News

News about the free trade area,

providing different business

information.

Business news and potential making

money areas by

professionals.

Information about finance

reform, not only about China, but

also other countries.

There are 8 different sections in this part, including news about the stock market, the free trade area, companies, the finance reform and so on. See examples :

News about property market,

giving information about government

policies.

Insight

In the “dead person” section, you can see lots of stories about the person who passed away in recent days. Also, there can be some radios to introduce more about the person.( see left ）

This part includes 10 sections as shown right → In this part, The Paper gives some ideas and comments about news and social phenomenon. And, its content most are about arts, such as history, culture, research, books and speeches. What is special is that it also do an figure writing about the recently dead famous persons.

Geography section: more about world arts information.

TV series section: interviewing actors .

This part includes 9 sections about entertainment and life information, including fitness knowledge, geography photos, lifestyles, sports news and etc.

Life

Fitness section: introduce fitness knowledge.

PART TWO FeaturesIn this chapter, I will introduce main features of The Paper, those make The Paper more attractive and useful to users.

2I will talk about the left two parts about this APP, what I think these two are features of the APP.

As My Paper part, you can make your own subscriptions of all sections, which is totally like subscribing individual news to entertain yourself.It is very easy to subscribe news, you just need to press the “+”button and find what you want to add.

My Paper

Interview is the most featured part in The Paper, and there are 8 areas (see left) you can have interviews, with those famous or professional persons in typical field. It shows the interaction of new media.

PART THREE My ThoughtsI will give reasons about why I think this APP is good to online and mobile journalism in this chapter.

3The reason why I choose The Paper to introduce is very simple.

First, it is an mobile journalism APP, which provides news for us in a systematic way. Within different categories, we can easily find what we need.

Secondly, its interview function indicates the interaction between readers and reporters, which may give us some more interviewing resources when doing reports.

Thirdly, it has more object views and different points from various angles, which I suppose is important to journalists.
