After being briefed by the marketing manager of Canon NL and their marketing agency PHD Network (part of the Omnicom Media Group), T&P came up with a promotional action for the new IXUS 510 camera on Facebook. The promotional campaign had to be done using a Facebook application and it had to express the most important USP’s of the IXUS 510 HS camera, which were the advanced zoom capability, the stylish look and it's superior intelligence. Further concrete goals of Canon were having more people like the page and creating more engagement with the target audience.

Strategy

T&P developed Facebook application for a sweepstake that required the target audience to make a zoom picture of their favourite fashion item, thus promoting the zoom quality and the way (target audience) the camera is positioned. The application contained a so called ‘fangate’ so you had to rst like the Canon page in order to participate in the competition. A professional Canon jury selected the ten best pictures, after which a second voting round was started to create even more exposure and engagement. The whole promotion was supported with a Facebook advertising campaign.
