OBJECTIVES Enhance the capacities of disaster vulnerable communities to

respond to and cope with disasters

Improve grassroots, community based institutions, who are the first respondents to any disasters

Develop replicable models of preparedness

Support national government in development of appropriate policy models in DRR and Response

ADVOCACY • Formalization of working relationships with key stakeholders• Designing the Mass Media Campaign• Harmonization of the Training Module• Invited to do the HFA Reporting for the Government• Refining the CRA guidelines and adapting the same• Recognition of CRA by the Government and funding of the

proposals by CDMP• SoD toolkit as per the request of the government

Advocacy Contd…• Mass Casualty Management: Comprehensive Guideline on Mass

Casualty Management; incorporation of MCM into nursing curriculum;

• Urban Volunteers: Ensuring that Urban Volunteers are a part of the National Volunteer Scheme

• Labor Intensive Industries (Garment Industries): Strengthening Contingency Planning in Industries

Field Level Implementation• Formalization of working relationships with key stakeholders• CRA and RRAP completed in all the program areas and shared with

UDMC and GoB• Special interactive session with the most vulnerable community

with the help of technical partners• Bimonthly meeting with community, religious leaders etc• Screening of persons with disabilities and elderly people

CAPACITY BUILDING• Standardization of the training module and reference materials • Building the capacity of the team and partner organization on

DRR; ECHO policies and financial procedures; • Developing a set of trainers on CRA, URA, School Safety, M&E,

PME (community, teachers, partner organizations, UDMC etc)• Participation in the E single form training organized by FAST

Project• Capacity building of the volunteers (rural and urban) on S&R and

FA

Replication

• NARRI partners have long term commitment for most of the areas where DIPECHO is being implemented.

• Different Programs within the NARRI partners and local implementing partners follow the CRA and RRAP.

• Negotiation with CDMP for funding some of the community initiatives from the RRAP

• M&E systems/tools developed under the DIPECHO program is used by some of the organizations to monitor their other programs

CHALLENGES FOR THE CONSORTIUM• Working through a consortium approach for the first time: Not

many good practices, ground rules• Visibility of the consortium• Pace of the program some times affected: standardization,

negotiation, consensus
