Observa(on Sign-‐up Pre-‐Service Teachers
1. Observa-on sign-‐up is on a first come, first serve basis.
2. Observa-on dates will be available for two 4-‐week -me periods. • Phase I: October 3-‐October 28 • Phase II: November 7-‐December 2
3. There are 144 available observa-on dates for UA students to visit the field.
4. You must sign-‐up using the Google Spreadsheet linked on the Ning.
Details
• You can check out an SD memory card from Zook 435 or use your own camera.
• Dress professionally and appropriately. Remember, you are represen-ng the University of Akron College of Educa-on.
• Arrive at the school 10 minutes prior to the observa-on to allow -me to sign-‐in at the office and get direc-ons to the classroom.
• Make sure you know the name of the teacher you are there to observe so you can communicate effec-vely with office personnel.
Observa-on Guidelines -‐ Before
• You should bring an SD card or your own camera to record video. Ask the teacher for the digital camera once you arrive.
• Videotape only the Shared eBook Reading session.
• Leave the camera with the classroom teacher, but remember to bring the SD card back to campus with you.
Observa-on Guidelines -‐ During
• Review the Video Capture and Transfer tutorial document to see how to move your video to a local machine.
• You can check out a SD Card Reader from Zook 435 to transfer your video.
• Return the SD card and card reader to Zook 435 once the transfer is complete.

• Visit the Pre-‐Service Teachers Group on the NING and access the Observa(on Sign-‐Up discussion
• Review the Google Map of DigiTXT School Sites
• Access the Google Spreadsheet to view available observa-on -mes and Sign-‐Up.
• Prior to your observa-on, review the Video Capture and Transfer tutorial document posted on the NING.
