Pre-Apprenticeship Courses A pre-apprenticeship course is a stepping stone to get into the industry
of your choice. It provides a blend of theory and hands on experience in
a simulated workplace environment. Pre-apprenticeship courses may be
undertaken part-time while you are still at school (as part of VET in
Schools) or after you have completed school.
Pre-apprenticeships are also a great way to gain experience and skills
while at school or after you have completed school. Apprenticeships and
traineeships are an ideal way to combine training and employment.
Completion of a Pre-Apprenticeship Course will help to:
Prepare you for the working environment in the selected industry.
Give you some basic skills or improve your existing skills.
Pave the way for the learning you will get as part of your
apprenticeship.
Students who transition successfully into full-time trade apprenticeships have usually started training while at secondary school through VET in Schools or a structured work placement or school-based apprenticeship, or a combination of all three. Pre-apprenticeships are also a great way to gain experience and skills while at school or after you have completed school.
Competition for full-time trade apprenticeships is strong. Those who
seek them are usually well prepared and started their training and skills
development at school or through a pre-apprenticeship.
