MOJO MAGAZINE• MOJO magazine appeals to consumers

that like rock music• We can see this due to the cover stars

being the rock band The Black Keys, as well as other artists such as the Pixies and Jeff Beck being featured

• The colour cohesion of blue and pink with black creates a contrast, however the magazine is not targeted at a specific gender

• The free gift would possibly appeal to students, as they typically don’t have a lot of money to spare on things such as CDs

TOP OF THE POPS MAGAZINE

• This magazine appeals to a young teenage audience

• Due to the cover stars being male pop group One Direction as well as featuring other male stars (5 Seconds of Summer and The Vamps), it is assumed the magazine is aimed at girls

• Pink, yellow and blue are the main colours which adds to the ‘girly’ feel

Q MAGAZINE

• Q magazine appeals to a wide variety of people

• This issue features The Smiths as their main image, appealing to an older audience, as well as the 1975 who are a newer band that possibly attract younger consumers, and Lily Allen who may appeal to females more

• As this magazine has a wide circulation we know that many people read this

NME MAGAZINE• NME is a rock music magazine, so

appeals to people interested in rock music

• The foreground image is of the Arctic Monkeys, a popular rock band, and the magazine also features Blur and Johnny Marr who may appeal to a slightly older audience

• The colour cohesion of black and white with red appeals to both male and female audiences and stand out so is eye-catching

VIBE MAGAZINE

• Vibe is a hip-hop magazine that appeals to a young audience

• Nicki Minaj is the foreground image and therefore may appeal more to a female audience, especially as she aims to be an icon for female empowerment

• By also featuring male artists like Drake and Kanye West, male audiences would be attracted too

XXL MAGAZINE• XXL is a rap/hip-hop music magazine,

heavily appealing to a younger audience• Lil Wayne would attract male readers, but

as his music uses many expletives he does not appeal to very young teenagers

• Featuring other artists like Kid Ink, Busta Rhymes, Soulja Boy and Waka Flocka Flame also attracts a wider audience

• The simple colour cohesion could appeal to a male or female audience, however as the magazine primarily features males it is likely to attract males
