Pilot Project 2016 Front office – Back office
Planning for the future
www.snd.gu.se
Pilot Project 2016 • Aims
– Identify an efficient model to reach a larger coverage of research data nationally.
– Provide universities with the basis for establishing a Front Office (library, archives, IT etc.), and a basis for resource allocation/budgeting.
– Prepare for the 2017-application to the Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) based on researchers need.
• Pilot the model with research groups at 5-10 universities. • Mixture of higher educational institutions of different sizes, a
variety of academic disciplines.
Distributed system with local front offices to support to the researchers. Back office at SND to support the universities. Joint trusted repository and search portal.

2. The researcher curates the data
Support from FO. SND gives back office support
1. FO trains and issues ”driving licenses” for data curation and data management plans
3. FO reviews metadata, allocates DOI and creates dataset for next stage
4. Trusted repository at Swestore
administered by SND. User friendly
formats
4. Persistent format in the local archive
