전자업계시장조사전문기관 IMS리서치(www.imsresearch.com)는글로벌 LED 조명용반도체시장이 2016년에 30억달러규모로성장할것이라는분석을내놓았다.
IMS리서치는 ‘LED조명용파워부품의기회’라는제목의보고서에서보다효율적인조명에대한수요급증과백열전구사용을금지하는각정부의법제정과맞물려 LED 조명시장이빠르게성장하고있다면서이로인해현재 2016년에는약 190억개의전력반도체가사용돼그시장규모가무려 30억달러규모에이를것으로보인다고예상했다.
이중에서도가장크게성장할것으로예상되는 LED 대체조명용전력반도체시장은 2016년에 20억달러규모까지성장할것으로보여진다. 다양한디자인들과새로운스펙들으로인해점점커져가는조명시장은파워반도체제조업체들의매출성장을위한촉매제가되고있다.
이보고서의공동저자이자시니어애널리스트인라이언샌더슨(Ryan Sanderson)은 “LED 조명에적용되는복잡한전자구조가전통적인조명솔루션을사용하던기존업체들에게는새로운도전이되고있다. 대부분의 LED 조명설계가파워전자분야의엔지니어링지식을요구하지만아직은기존업체들이이러한기술을보유하고있지않은현실이다”며 “AC-DC 및 DC-DC 컨트롤러및저전력MOSFET를기반으로한 LED 조명시장은 2016년까지약 10.5억달러규모로성장할것”이라고덧붙였다.
한편보고서는또 전력반도체제조업체들에게희소식일가로등과산업용조명등을포함한 60W급이상의조명기구시장에대해주목했다. 전체적으로볼때이러한조명기기용파워시장의규모는2016년까지 10억달러이상으로커질것이라는예상이다. 이중에서도특히 MOSFET 및정류기등LED 조명기기와파워서플라이업체들을대상으로하는분야의매출이두드러질것으로보인다.

LED 조명램프구동용 PMIC의필요성 : 전해콘덴서의수명문제
기술개발배경
전해콘덴서는열에약하기때문에전원장치수명을단축시킴(온도가 10도상승할때마다전해콘덴서의수명이 50%씩 줄어듬) . 특히 LED조명기구내부온도는가볍게 70도를넘어가는경우가많고, 그경우연속으로 10,000시간정도밖에사용할수없음.
