O&M points of attention: KAUST experience KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) has been set-up by Saudi Aramco and it is located in Jeddah. KAUST installed a 10 kW PV test plant in Jeddah using crystalline modules + a 2.0 MW off-grid on its rooftop, using crystalline modules by XXX. First results on the PV test plant. -Dust impact on production: - 8/-15% per month -3 months without cleaning the dust: -30/-40% production vs regularly cleaned panels - 1 year without cleaning the dust, panels installed bifacial E/W with tilt=90°: no reduction on production - 2 months without cleaning the dust: 30% of panels’ surface covered (12.5 g/cm2/month) - Dust storms may reduce production up to 60% -Frameless is better -High cleaning costs: 55 k$/y for their 2 MW PV plant (i.e. 22 k€/MW/y)
