Country TraditionIn 1989, Billy moved to Nashville to follow his dream of being a well-known country singer. He came at a time when traditional country music was undergoing major changes. In the fall of 1990, he signed a record deal with MCA through a production company in California. Billy’s debut album, “Too Country” was released in the spring of 1992. This album was well received but the timing seemed to be wrong. Many country artists were recording music that was a combination of pop and country. This change in traditional country music caused Billy to be released from his contract a year later.Billy continued to play his brand of traditional country music. He played at dance halls and nightclubs for a few years, but finally decided to take a break from music. Almost 25 years later, Billy began writing traditional country songs once again. He feels this new collection of songs is the best he’s ever written.
